Wonder how quickly we'll fill this one?

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 17/03/2010 21:27

I fully intend to one day write the style pages!! all of them!!

tracey I like that dress and ime MJ stuff tends to be worth keeping - very wearable and versatile BUT I would guess that you'd need to have it altered as I am an XS in all his stuff (clearly not an XS in reality)

LOL Cyclops Hana!!! Another 3 times today.. we are now on to Icarus as well.

notyummy I think when they say 'flattering cut' they mean "oi all you scrawny beanpole types, this dress might actually make you look a bit womanly"

LetThemEatCake · 17/03/2010 21:30

actually I think I may go off and blog about that.

traceybath · 17/03/2010 21:34

I ordered the US size 2 but it would undoubtedly need taking up. Was £40 though so could turn out to be a total bargain. Had got a gorgeous Thomas Maier cashmere dress in my outnet basket but it had gone by the time I came to checkout annoyingly.

Am currently looking at next - I tell you m&s could learn something from them about making clothes look nice on websites. The model who looks like LTEC could make a paper bag look desirable.

LTEC - saw big poster in jigsaw regarding your DH's film that you star in - do you get to go to the premiere?

Now I imagine Hells and her DH do something frightfully glam in the fashion/media world.

Roman - is it your interview tomorrow - if so very best of luck!

hellsbelles · 17/03/2010 21:45

nothing glam at all Tracey - I promise.

LTEC - have they had the premiere yet? I will most certainly go to see it in support of Mr Cake and our fledgling superstar actress. And will dress as stylishly as possible for the occasion

Off to check LTECs blog

hellsbelles · 17/03/2010 21:48

is this boring? It looks like an 'easy to wear' dress for me.

traceybath · 17/03/2010 21:53

I like that dress a lot Hells. I love that whole drawstringy/drop waist thing since I have no real waist.

hellsbelles · 17/03/2010 22:17

I like drop waist Tracey cause I can eat more pudding

For the complete opposite what about this or am I just being swayed by the discount!

reallygrumpy · 17/03/2010 22:18

hells I've tried that dress on and it wasn't very flattering on me but those kind of drawstring, drop waist dresses just tend to make me look a bit lardier than I am and I look better in something a bit more fitted.

LetThemEatCake · 17/03/2010 22:48

I like that first one a lot hells - the second one is, er, less appealing. Rather a lot less, tbh

Loving all the links to dresses, but very that it'll be ages before I can wear any what with pregnancy and breastfeeding!

Can I get some opinions? I found last time that cardigans were my most useful purchases last time I breastfed, but this time around it'll be summer, and there is always a risk of cardigans looking frumpy. So what do you reckon to these lightweights cardis?

Please can i have some feedback on these shoes wise and stylish ladies...
www.my-wardrobe.com/steve-madden/fuschia-kerrin-suede-studded-shoe-438198

i found them last night when couldnt get back to sleep after 3 hours of dd night terrors..

i have 4 days till due date so don't know if overtired from last night or feeling bored, bored, bored of pregnancy and needing a splash of fun and frivolous.

Am unsure whether they are veering towards 'stripper shoe'..obviously not a day shoe..is that heel too shiney..also what colours to wear with..am thinking skinny white jeans but what else(i don't wear a huge amount of black)

perhaps im just liking the discount codes and gagging for a last hurrah purchase pre baby?

sorry apuski but brain has gone into denial(wink)re-bf/babyfriendly clothing at mo so am finding it too tricky to focus on cardigans!

Fleecy · 18/03/2010 10:32

Will catch up properly later but wanted to pop in and let you all know koodos.com have Aftershock dresses on sale today. There's a nice orange maxi dress on there - Oscar print it's called.

I have fallen for the halter-neck dress in the same print, 'tho not sure about the ruffly skirt. But it's so pretty!

traceybath · 18/03/2010 10:40

Morning All.

Am sorting out old clothes today as have found local shop which sells on childrens and ladies stuff so going to drop off a load on saturday.

Bods - I like those shoes but they may be verging a little on the stripper side

Apuski - I like the toast cardigan - some lovely colours and I found longline flattering whilst losing the baby weight.

Right - outnet dress should arrive today - God I love getting deliveries

vinauchocolat · 18/03/2010 11:38

LTEC love those hasbeens, good choice, less spendy than the choos and more wearable !

I have to have a small rave about these jeans. OK I know they are (gasp) jeggings or whatever but I ordered them in a size smaller than I usually am and they fit perfectly and make my post-baby behind look better than it has in about 10 years!! Love them

Pink bag arrived, it's very big- but will be good to throw lots of stuff in for work or could use as baby bag . Very soft leather, the lining is mad and multicoloured. It's not me at all, but that is its appeal. The only thing I'm not sure about is that the gold bits are very gold whereas I prefer a more muted tone but I am fussy.

this dress is rather expensive, but I have voucher code to use, and I don't have many work clothes that are not maternity.. not sure though, I am thinking it is possiby too long for me (I am sadly 5'3!)

vinauchocolat · 18/03/2010 11:41

If it were not for my current poverty and permanent shortness I would buy this dress I love it

vinauchocolat · 18/03/2010 11:44

apuski I am still BFing. I like the toast cardigan. I got some really nice lightweight linen-y cardigans from Jigsaw last year. I also, with DC1, used very lightweight scarves in the summer which I actually got from H&M, a large lightweight pashmina style thing would work well in the summer as you can just stick it over/around you when BFing in public, without needing lots of layers.

vinauchocolat · 18/03/2010 11:47

Oh and I also am in love with these shoes I don't like very shiny patent shoes and it seems that is all that's around at the moment. However I am resisting buying them as I do not know how the sizing is

vinauchocolat · 18/03/2010 11:49

Last 'sigh' moment, is it too close to summer to buy scarves? Love these

bunnymother · 18/03/2010 12:11

Vin - those CL shoes are divine, as are the Lily & Lionel scarves. Think that scarf will be great in summer as it never gets that hot in the UK. Or if it does, doesn't seem to last long.

What do you think about this Lily & Lionel necklace? I think its quite cool and fun, and DD can't rip it off my neck too easily. The other day she pulled out a little chunk of my hair and then started play with that. Am always urging "gentle, gentle", but to no avail...

bunnymother · 18/03/2010 12:17

Apuski - I quite like the Splendid cardi, not really the JL one. If you are looking for colours other than taupe or black (although you might not be!!), have you looked in Zara? They have some pretty, v light (actually a bit too sheer unless wearing white underneath) cardis. And Uniqlo have a lilac cotton cashmere long line cardi here. No idea how the Uniqlo looks in RL, though.

bodsmum · 18/03/2010 12:22

Thanks Tracey...you have saved me from my crazy ladyhormones so i will wait a few months before i step out shopping..or at least make sure I do some double checking prepurchases with you guys.Hope the outnet frock was a success in the flesh

vesela · 18/03/2010 12:56

Apuski, I like the Toast cardigan, but I came across an old thread on here with a link to the long linen cardi that said several people bought them the year before and they went twisted and misshapen after washing. (They are handwash - not sure how the MNers in question washed them...).

Toast might have sorted the issue over the last couple of years, if they do linen cardis every year, but it could be worth asking around a bit more.

ApuskiDusky · 18/03/2010 14:26

Thanks for the feeddback on the cardigans - I suspected the JL one might not be so popular! And vesela, good call on washing issues, I often forget to check . Will see if I can find any more info on the toast one. Bunnymother, thanks for the tip re Zara, I need to have a look, it's such a bloody trek to my nearest one though! Jigsaw is only 15 minutes walk away though, so I shall have a browse when I'm in town this weekend.

One more that is in new arrivals here. Yes? No?

MarshaBrady · 18/03/2010 14:28

I love THAT Splendid one Apuski!
