Boden USA sale starts first and stock plummets!!!

I noticed that the USA sale had started today and was told by someone on the phone that their stock came from a seperate warehouse and the UK would be completely unaffected. However...I had been watching a few items (they were in my basket) and the gold brogue pumps were available in gold in most sizes last night and now they are totally sold out and when you check the stock it's the same on both sites.

I just can't beliebe Boden start the US sale first, what about their loyal British customers??!!

the bird fun skirt, as far as i was aware it has been soldout in nearly every size for past few weeks, well it was everytime i tried to order it for somone.

i wont get a pay rise for this but ive become quite fond of my boden customers and i felt after hearing a few things on here i just had to set a few things straight regarding some questions.

i can understand your disgruntled feelings, but as i said in my previous post, there are pretty fair reasons as to why...

oh yeah nearly forgot, unless i am wrong (which i could be so dont quote me on this) but US don't have clearance 'town hall' sales like we do over here.

ChatterClausIsComingToTown · 12/12/2009 01:15

Yeah, I bought my birds skirt weeks ago.

Oh well Johnnie (for I shall spell your name correctly!). Chatting has been therapeutic and as such I will doubtless see you and yours again next season.

Night, Night.

OK bodenboy - if you are still there! These 'town hall sales' - how do people get to know about them? I have always heard about three months after the event AND they always seem to be down south and never in the frozen north where I live. So do tell - and just to make you feel better I have spent a HUGE anount today - well, huge for me. My lovely parents are buying me a dress and a handbag in the sale for Xmas but I had to get them myself as they are computer illiterate and so whilst I was on I just HAD to have a couple of T shirts and an item or two for DD. So I must be worthy of a tip off here!

neverjamtoday · 12/12/2009 01:21

Sorry - 'amount' not 'anount' - it's the Friday night glass (or two) of wine!

BodenBoy · 12/12/2009 01:26

if you want to know about the town hall sales all you need do is call the call center and the person who answers your call will tell you absolutely every town hall sale that is scheduled for next year.

now admittedly they are 'mostly' down south, but there are quite a few up north too.
one thing to remember the advisor will tell you every town hall sale that is 'scheduled' so they are subject to change, we are advised to tell customers that to call a week or so before to confirm the actual dates and times.

hope this helps

bodenboy - if indeed you are a bodenboy , speaking from a designers point of view (i am a textile designer) it is not hard at all (for me, anyway ) to predict what will sell well in the range, and therefore need additional stock, and what will not.

based on the boden design teams choice of fabric alone, it is quite obvious which shite stuff won't sell, ie anything in a fabric resembling vomit, and the stuff that will, ie anything slightly less hotch-potchy/tasteful.

BodenBoy · 12/12/2009 01:58

as much as i'd love to converse about fabrics but alas i am only a call center operative, i know absolutely jackall about fabrics therwise id be getting paid a hell of alot more LOL

i am first in line for the customers so to speak or cannonfodder depending on the customer in question. if i was to find out about any fabrics i would need to actually talk to the designers and that could take some time.

and kate, to be fair to our design team, if we had 'shite stuff' (your words) we wouldn't make it, Boden is quite a reputable company who prides itself on customer service and top quality items.

now for a little nugget of truth about Boden that not many people grasp. Boden in comparison to our competitors such as Next and Gap we are a tiny tiny company. But if you read your financial times you will find that Boden is one of the largest growing companies in the UK even during this so called recession we have been having. Many companies have suffered negative growth over past 18 months where as Boden has experienced growth moving out into Germany, USA, Austria and soon France. Not bad for a small comapny.

This is also a reason as to why stock levels are low and run out, because we are still a relatively small company in the larger, grander picture of the retail fashion world.

neverjamtoday · 12/12/2009 01:59

Thanks - I am going to believe that you are who you say you are and pester the poor people at the call centre from now on! Worried about the American spelling of 'center' tho'

BodenBoy · 12/12/2009 02:01

sorry, my spelling isnt top notch, my apologies.

see even my posts like call centre staff is majorly apologetic LOL

neverjamtoday · 12/12/2009 02:07

Apologies accepted - I just wondered, given the amont of paranoia here about customers in the USA, whether there was some kind of American conspiracy going on.

It's late - I am going to bed - to dream about my soon to arrive handbag! (Blimey I'm sad - nice as the handbag is, you understand).

neverjamtoday · 12/12/2009 02:09

Amount not amont - it's that last glass of chianti callapso that did it!

TheShowMustGoOn · 12/12/2009 02:15

hhhhahahhaaaa

Top notch trolling.

Trolling with 'jazzy print' and fancy stitching. Perfect for breakfast at the in laws.

I do wonder why anyone fell for it?

UKUSGAL · 16/12/2009 02:30

I lived in the UK for a few years. Also, back now in the US. The US customers do get the first go at the sale stuff and the UK customers get what is left over. This is true, true, true. I would have stuff sent to US family/friends so I would not lose out. Watched it happend on the summer sale as well. I feel lucky to be back in the US as I felt like all the UK ladies missing out now and was I ever mad!
