Boden USA sale starts first and stock plummets!!!

I noticed that the USA sale had started today and was told by someone on the phone that their stock came from a seperate warehouse and the UK would be completely unaffected. However...I had been watching a few items (they were in my basket) and the gold brogue pumps were available in gold in most sizes last night and now they are totally sold out and when you check the stock it's the same on both sites.

I just can't beliebe Boden start the US sale first, what about their loyal British customers??!!

purplepeony maybe they do publish all your reviews but they don't publish mine - how can you defnitively say they publish all reviews? how would you klnow that? are you JB?

sleepysox · 09/12/2009 21:30

I just emailed Boden CS about the fact that the US sale starts before the Uk's and this is what they said:

Thank you for your email.

I am very sorry to hear of your disappointment. I am sorry to tell you that we are unable to start both sales on the same day, as we simply do not have the manpower or facilities in our warehouse to cope with such demand. Also, our US market is much smaller than the UK. Because the US market is so much smaller, there will still be plenty of stock left over by the time we start the UK sale. However, if we ran the sale in the UK first, there would be nothing left at all when we started the US sale.

Furthermore, by running our US sale first, it enables us to trial both our website and warehouse, on a small scale, to ensure we can cope with our larger UK sale. It also gives us enough time to fix any teething problems that we may encounter.

I am sorry for the confusion about the US warehouse. The US warehouse receives its own Mini Boden items, and any US customer returns also go to the US warehouse, but other items are still sent from the UK warehouse.

Once again, I am sorry for the disappointment caused and, if we can be of any more help, please let us know.

Yours sincerely

You see that's just totally different from the information I had in the e-mail below! 'Plenty of stock' - bollocks! Total bollocks!

pooka · 09/12/2009 21:47

Tis all crap! I am a v. loyal customer, or should I say I was a very loyal customer. Cannot help but feel rather shoddily treated....

rosieroseanna · 09/12/2009 21:59

I hope Johnnie Boden is reading this!!! To be honest I think most Boden stuff is quite revolting and too obviously trying to appeal to a certain type of person. I also hate the way Johnnie does videos etc on the site. That said I do like some of their knitwear.

Back to the reviews thing, I wrote a review for the glam evening cardigan which was the first review for it and went up immediately (it was a glowing one) I also wrote a review about the favourite cardi saying it bobbled terribly and that did not go up. A friend from work also wrote one saying the same thing that also didn't go up. I think they put some negative reviews up (ones they think won't affect sales but delete the rest) as there is not a singel review about that cardigan. They sent me replacements and each on did the same thing without having been washed. Rant over!

earthstar- no I am not JB-sorry! I did once send a very critical review which wasn't published so I just re wrote it and voila- it was there soon enough.

LynetteScavo · 09/12/2009 22:04

Disapointed, Johnny, disapointed!

lucykate · 09/12/2009 22:09

simply due to the size of america in comparison to the uk, i don't believe them when they say their american market is much smaller than the uk one, sounds like complete bollocks to me.

lucykate · 09/12/2009 22:15

actually, i reckon the american sale starts earlier because of the longer posting time to over there. it's winter stuff and party dresses, most people will be wanting their order before christmas, and most orders will be placed on the first day of the sale. makes sense, start the usa sale, give a week to get the bulk of the orders processed and on their way, then start the uk one after, shorter delivery time so the uk comes second.

tiredoftherain · 09/12/2009 22:15

There certainly seem to be a large proportion of American reviewers on their website. Can't believe the US market is that small.

Let's get Johnnie on Watchdog

ChatterClausIsComingToTown · 09/12/2009 22:17

You know what really irks me about all this?

Here, on this section of Mumsnet, we are all SO stylish and SO beautiful. God knows that we just don't deserve this from Boden.

I actually feel like Johnny has cast me aside and cheated on me with some 21 yr old size 6 American strumpet .

thisisyesterday · 09/12/2009 22:29

gosh, you know this has put me right off using Boden any more, and I have been really a rather (too) loyal customer!

they need to practise the sale in american frst???

like, cos they've never done one and don't klnow what it'll be like? what kind of bollocks is that?

"no, we don't send anything from the uk. oh yeh, except some stuff is sent from the uk"

lies lies lies.

def a boycott in order I think!!!

Inkpen · 09/12/2009 22:36

Hi - I agree that the reviews may be biased. I sent three (Mini Boden) this autumn - all polite and balanced, but they only published the one that was entirely positive and did not put up the other two that suggested, for example, that the sizes were less generous than they used to be. Too much of a coincidence ...

kittya · 09/12/2009 22:43

Its totally true. I said that a cashmere jumper was over priced - never got shown. The geometrical dress was like a sack and, maybe that was harsh but how I felt and needed to be said for those buyers that are over a size ten, that was the one I put in 3 times, never saw it. I said the little girls winter pumps were expensive at £23 for a pair of shoes that should have been in the Summer range. Never appeared.

Olivia101 · 09/12/2009 22:53

There should be a thread here about our Boden buys and what we really thought of them... or would that be too difficult to arrange?

kittya · 10/12/2009 00:02

Yes there should be an unbiased thread on here. Its terrible that the real truth doesnt get published. Maybe the American buyers are more forgiving? I cant believe that there are more American customers then over here but when you read the reviews, you would thinks so.

dooneygirl · 10/12/2009 00:25

I'm going to have to agree that even though we have a lot more people, we're a smaller market than you. I'm an American living in America, and other than on here, I've never heard of Boden. I asked people I knew around here if they'd ever bought anything from Boden after I heard it mentioned on here, because I wanted to know what kind of clothes they had, and I've never talked to anybody that has even heard of them.

Earthstar · 10/12/2009 06:42

How come so many more American reviews than British ones, how very peculiar and given the rest of the thread somewhat suspicious too....surely not more lies from jb?

GreatGooglyMoogly · 10/12/2009 07:05

We need a journalist to work undercover in Boden and report back .

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 10/12/2009 10:07

Well I'm going to spend the £400 I was going to spend in the boden sale at joules or toast instead. I'm sure Johnnie doesn't care, he has lots of other mugs yummy mummies who will buy up the whole sale tomorrow.

gingertoo · 10/12/2009 10:40

Just been on the Boden website to make my list for tomorrow and practically all of the baby stuff has gone

ASOS have got loads of Mini Boden stuff left though and some of it is already reduced (only by £3 or £4 but reduced nonetheless!)
Does anyone know whether ASOS have a 'sale start date' or do they just reduce odd things as and when?

Not impressed Johnnie B, not impressed...

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 10/12/2009 10:43

I wonder how much the discounts will be. There's not a lot of my 'must-have' stuff left but there's a little bit of 'buy if the price is right....'
However if there is not much I suppose that means they won't put the prices down by much either?

DisElfchanted3 · 10/12/2009 10:45

Wow, your all so pissed off!

Just get some clothes else where, its over priced shite anyways.

dexter73 · 10/12/2009 11:31

After getting so worked up how many of you are actually not going to buy anything tomorrow as a protest?

gingertoo · 10/12/2009 12:09

Protest??!
Never - I'm just going to grumble on here then dutifully log on in the morning and buy some of what's left
