Boden USA sale starts first and stock plummets!!!

I noticed that the USA sale had started today and was told by someone on the phone that their stock came from a seperate warehouse and the UK would be completely unaffected. However...I had been watching a few items (they were in my basket) and the gold brogue pumps were available in gold in most sizes last night and now they are totally sold out and when you check the stock it's the same on both sites.

I just can't beliebe Boden start the US sale first, what about their loyal British customers??!!

I did post this thread to Boden a few minutes ago and got the "standard" reply from Lee- same as posted by another MN.

cornsilklikeshumous · 09/12/2009 15:39

If I put stuff in my basket now will it automatically adjust itself as soon as the sale starts?

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 09/12/2009 15:49

yeah cornsilk, if there's anything left in it by then.

cornsilklikeshumous · 09/12/2009 15:57

thanks. Am working on fri so will order with my i-phone if I can

lucykate · 09/12/2009 16:30

"Unfortunately, as Boden USA and Boden UK are, in fact, separate entities, we do not have control of the offers they run or the timing of their sales"

they can't be that separate given they are both called boden, and have the same catalogue and website, and sell the same clothes

cornsilklikeshumous · 09/12/2009 16:34

lol lucy

ChatterClausIsComingToTown · 09/12/2009 16:39

What a carry on! All I know is that the few things remaining that i half liked (in an 8) have now sold out!! I wonder why.....

traceybath · 09/12/2009 16:42

Cornsilk - basket automatically emptied when sale starts.

You'll need to re-stock it when the sale starts.

ChatterClausIsComingToTown · 09/12/2009 16:50

What do we think has gone on then this season with the smaller sizes?

Did Boden hold much less stock of size 8's and 10's as compared to 12's and 14's? Or are Boden's customer base just mostly skinny hence those sizes being mostly sold out in the nice stuff? If the latter is correct then why is Boden attracting a skinny crowd? Most shops have lots of size 8's and size 16's left for the sale as most people wear a 12 or 14

cornsilklikeshumous · 09/12/2009 17:35

thanks tracey - will make a list and phone then

weepootle · 09/12/2009 18:34

Yep looks like they've definitely been rumbled- was far too much of a coincidence, I didn't believe for a minute they were completely seperate.

I'm disgusted with their handling of this whole thing- nobody likes being lied to. Next they'll be telling us that yes, they do ship to US from Leicester... but from a seperate room in the warehouse.

Come on Johnnie, explain this one.

rosieroseanna · 09/12/2009 18:40

Lame. The whole thing is a farce. They have treated their English customers very shoddily considering we were there before the USA customers!! No Offence meant ;) And then to lie to us...

LIES LIES LIES

That is even worse than favouring US customers above loyal Brits imo

AND I posted a review that they didn't upload to their website...saying that the girls boyfriend cardigan was AMAZING until it had been worn 4 times at which point it bobbled like crazy and looked like a rag forever after despite gently handwash with soapflakes

So you can't trust the reviews either as they obviously pick which ones to post. I had been complimentary about the design and critical about the quality.

kittya · 09/12/2009 19:03

Ive just emailed them and I think every body should.

Earthstar · 09/12/2009 19:04

I did email about the same thing after the summer sale, clearly it will be a waste of time and effort

purplepeony · 09/12/2009 19:07

EMAIL THEM- I HAVE!
IF NOTHING ELSE THEY WILL GET TOTALLY SICK OF HAVING TO RESPOND.

kittya · 09/12/2009 19:27

Its totally true if you say anything negative about their products they dont print them, even if you just say they are expensive for what they are (often true). Ive emailed and am just waiting to hear.

Earthstar · 09/12/2009 19:48

Oh I didn't know other people didn't get their reviews posted kittya...makes it a bit pointless having reviews if they only publish the best ones...the whole organisation is just tainted by dishonesty for me now...

kittya · 09/12/2009 19:53

and the default always gives the highest first so if you want to look for any that arent exactly glowing you have to search! Its a con, Ive rang them about it before. Once I wrote a review 3 times and just got sick of never seeing it so I stopped writing them.

purplepeony · 09/12/2009 20:09

they do publish all reviews- I have written several where i queried value for money as well as fit etc and they have always been there- but you have to look at Low to High when you read the reviews.

kittya · 09/12/2009 20:13

Honestly, I know they dont. Because if you write a review for the same thing, if they have put it up it wont let you write another one. I think just a selection of negatives get through. The other strange thing is that if you order the same thing again, in a different size or colour and have already written a review it wont let you then write another one saying whether you liked your second lot!! I noticed that when I wrote a not so glowing report for a pair of girls pumps but got nagged into buying them again in a different colour and they were much better but it wouldnt let me say!

Still waiting for a reply....

poguemahone · 09/12/2009 20:17

I live in the USA and the BodenUSA woman I spoke to 2-3 months ago said that they were in the process of setting up their American warehouse. All orders to date have been from the UK warehouse. I'll report back when this order arrives!

kittya · 09/12/2009 20:17

They dont. I know because if you try and write a review for something you have already sent one for it wont let you. So if you have written a negative and dont see it, try writing it again and if they have discarded it they will let write another one. Thats what happened to me 3 times. This works against them because if you buy something that wasnt that great and say so but then buy it in a different colour/size and its perfect, it wont let you send in another review!

tiredoftherain · 09/12/2009 20:51

I knew that Johnnie was too good to be true.. That's fecking irritating about the reviews, it makes the whole process a farce.

rookiemater · 09/12/2009 20:55

Gah ! The website is down, I was trying to get a list together so that DH can do a website shop for me on Friday as I will be at work.
