I think I like your description best LaurieFairycake!

2msmum · 25/09/2009 18:50

I quite like some Boden, as (help turning into my mother its well made) but it does make me smile when I see the catalogue posed in oh so lovely nice leafy well heeled places like kensington and chelsea (or near the second country homes of people who live in places like this) when everyday I drive past the huge metal Boden warehouse on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Leicester. Still great finish on the seams!

bodeniites · 25/09/2009 18:56

if the short fat etc, post had been put on Primark woman it would have been tutted at as cruel double standards a go go

SweetEm · 25/09/2009 19:15

Boden woman can't possibly be short - their skirts and trousers are too long for us shorties!

Eve4Walle · 25/09/2009 19:18

TBH, I'm a little bit fed up with the Boden-bshing going on at the moment.

We all have choices, and it's the differences in style which make us all individuals. So what if wearing Boden makes you aspirational? So what if wearing Primark makes you tight? Who really cares? Too many people here it seems.

FWIW, I don't think there is a Boden woman or a Primark woman, and to suggest that there is is just being nasty and stereotypical.

Her, as I said earlier, I can't see what's wrong with saying I don't wish to look like everyone else.

Next isn't epscially cheap, and there was no snottiness intended. You took it that I was being arsey and nasty when I'm not at all.

HerHonesty · 26/09/2009 06:20

ruby how true.... thats why its so astonishingly accurate. shame some cant see the funny sid of it.

Eve4Walle · 26/09/2009 06:54

Yes, because we are all so happy with beiunbg labelled aren't we?

CNyle · 26/09/2009 12:28

eve have you got up at 6am to argue about boden?

lady

Eve4Walle · 26/09/2009 15:32

Nah, I was up that early because my darling babies woke at that time.

I get out plenty thanks.

HerHonesty · 26/09/2009 19:19

come on eve it all just in jest. relax.

CybilLiberty · 26/09/2009 19:22

I have 2 pairs of awful Boden wedges in my pongy shoe cupboard which are soon going to the tip . That's the only Boden I've ever owned, or intend to own

CNyle · 26/09/2009 19:27

what shoes or boots?

MorrisZapp · 26/09/2009 20:11

Boden catalogue: barf.

Boden clothes: yes please.

They're just clothes. Made out of fabric with arms and legs. Apart from the applique and the hotchpotch, you'd have to have an expert eye to spot it.

I don't 'wear Boden' any more than I 'wear Next' or 'wear Primark'.

But like most women, I love clothes, I love shopping and I buy clothes from heaps of different places.

And I do live in Morningside, but I don't have kids - far less in private education

CybilLiberty · 26/09/2009 20:14

shoe wedges, one red polka dot (what was I thinking) one lumpen brown and cream stripe. They depress me everytime I open my shoe cupboard

EachPeachPearMum · 26/09/2009 23:58

This thread is genius! Thank you...

mollyroger · 27/09/2009 14:57

I shop at Oxfam, Save the children, Shelter, Boden, George, Hobbs, Monsoon, Fat Face, Gap, M&S, Sainsnurys, Matalan, Warehouse.....

I really want a wicker basket and panniers for my bike - that's quite Boden

roundwindow · 27/09/2009 15:11

G&T: I love your bonfire night scenario, so apt. Whenever I see these sort of spreads in Sainsbury's magazine and the like I'm always filled with pathos at the plight of stressed mums up and down the line whose soiree really didn't live up to expectations.

'Fingerless gloved hands cupping a steming mug of hot chocolate'..... thats such a great summming up of mag cliche land. LOL

Bleh · 27/09/2009 15:30

Oh man, I love that Isle of Boden thing, especially Johnie's attempt at multiculturalism "Favourite things to do on a Sunday ... 10. Go to church/synagogue/mosque/chapel". Someone should tell him the main days for synagogues and mosques are not Sundays. Oh Johnnie.

GentleOtter · 27/09/2009 16:36

Johnny likes ' sunset over the smoking shed'...

We ask ourselves -

is he on crack?

is he doing fish?

wtf is a smoking shed?

I can't buy a cardi until I know these things.

HerHonesty · 27/09/2009 17:28

ha never read that isle of boden thing. ahhh the irony in "people trying really hard"

john peel at a johnnie boden dinner party....now there's a thought!
