bodeniites · 24/09/2009 13:41

believe it or not some of us are fat and actually suit Boden shock horror i love the bird skirt and i would love it stretching across my size 18 arse cant afford at the moment though

Bleh · 24/09/2009 13:41

Okay, let me try.

Mrs Boden Lady went to a nice gel's school, then studied History of Art/Geography/Social Anthropology at Bristol/Durham/St Andrews/Edinburgh.
She met Mr Boden through mutual friends from school/he's her DB's friend from school.
Naturally, she does some shopping at Waitrose, but also gets veg from Abel & Cole and other food from Organic Farmers Markets. They used to holiday in Brittany, but since the downturn have decided to "staycation" and go to Norfolk instead. She has lots of Cath Kidston tea towels.
She works part time, has 3/4 kids, Mr Boden Man works in the City as an accountant/middle management and they live in Surrey. They have two dogs, Mitsy and Orlando, who are labs.

Bleh · 24/09/2009 13:43

In the meantime, Mr Boden man is shagging his secretary, Sharon, who is a pneumatic blonde from Essex, and who "gets" him in a way Mrs Boden can't. She will never find out about the torrid affair, nor would she have one, though she does think her spinning/Body Pump instructor is rather "dishy".

DillyTantay · 24/09/2009 13:46

Mr boden has 9 points on his licence and regularly uses the phrase " cant oyu go and catch some real criminals"

Oh Bodeniites! i hope i did not offend. Apologies if i did. I also LOVE the bird skirt. That would look ace on any size. I too want it so. The ocean fun skirt though, I personally would not chance that in a size 10. I think it would make me look worse not better! It is a strange skirt. i don't think it would flatter many. I expect there will be several on the sale.

Bleh · 24/09/2009 13:48

Actually, I think Mrs Boden is very similar to Mrs White Company (used to work there, encountered a lot). There was quite a range, from young aspiring urbanites to very, very wealthy, to utter nutters (like the woman who made me compare identical blue cushion covers for 15 minutes, as she believed one was slightly greener than the other. LUNATIC).

squeaver · 24/09/2009 13:49

lololol at this thread.

I reckon Mr Boden does a lot of fishing and cricket and pretends to know about football and rugby.

squeaver · 24/09/2009 13:50

He doesn't have much to say for himself (because he's actually a bit stupid) and she is always making excuses for him.

chattermouse · 24/09/2009 13:51

BTW Bodeniites, jut looked and the bird skirt is sold out in an 18 long and won't be back in stock. Be quick i guess if you want the 18 regular. Get that credit card out quickly....

bodeniites · 24/09/2009 13:51

chattemouse of course you did not offend i love your Boden chat that skirt IS awful and in all honesty i wish i was a size 10/12 but i just cant seem to shift it sob i think i love Boden coats so much as they cover it all up and make me feel cheerful

francagoestohollywood · 24/09/2009 13:52

I think I might have actually met a real life Johnnie Boden himself in one of those posh family friendly hotels. He was lecturing his offspring (age 4 and 6 at a glance) about the English Empire at the dinner table. Ah the good old times Johnnie!

chattermouse · 24/09/2009 13:56

Bodeniites - I love the coats too. Was it you who wanted the rainbow one? It is lovely in Navy i think. I don't need it to be a sahm though..... The cloudspotter is so gorge though. Some mornings I actually hope for rain!

WreckOfTheHesperus · 24/09/2009 14:02

I confess that I am Boden woman (only plain stuff - none of your sassy/ flippy applique / fun stuff here)

Sees Boden as reliable and good quality for work, if a little dull and predictable. Certainly not aspirational; friends are a lot more stylish, and she thinks that she could probably do a lot better than wearing Boden if she took the time....

...but she works full time, doesn't want to spend a fortune on a load of suits that need dry-cleaning all the time, and has a toddler who she doesn't want to drag round shops during their precious weekends together.

So she can't be arsed to shop except online, and doesn't always send things back if they only look a little bit dodgy

Lifestyle? Bugger lifestyle

KingRolo · 24/09/2009 14:05

"These skirts are as vibrant as ever, but even more considered this season. I?m particularly taken by the birds, which were first discovered perching in a bolt of vintage fabric. We?ve made them our own by rendering them in hotchpotch. Expect birdwatchers to be puzzled by this previously unrecorded species."

What the dizzy fuck?

Mrs Boden is surely someone who understands this incomprehensible twiddle-twaddle.

bodeniites · 24/09/2009 14:07

yes it was me Chattermouse i love the Navy too King Rolo when things like that are written down on a thread like this it does make me cringe

chattermouse · 24/09/2009 14:08

But you can't deny that those birds are cute rolo! They would match with just about any top too.....

AnotherBloodySugaBabe · 24/09/2009 14:10

Mr Boden comes home and smiles in gratitude at his wife's bulk order of autumn clothes on his behalf, while inwardly thinking 'Fuck, I'm going to get the piss ripped out of me when my friends see me wearing an "Artisan's" jacket and jaunty striped scarf...'

KingRolo · 24/09/2009 14:24

Love this review of the ditsy print shirt, "My husband can't wait to wear it on our forthcoming cruise where nearly all the fellas parade the prom with their usual boring shirts."

Riiight.

AnotherBloodySugaBabe · 24/09/2009 14:25

ROTFL!

People who go on cruises. Wearing Boden

HerHonesty · 24/09/2009 14:33

do people really think boden is good quality or value for money?

rofl at mr boden's artisan jacket.

now have to confess i didnt put boden and cruising together..

TokenFemale · 24/09/2009 15:03

OH MY EYES!!

I clicked on Chattermouse's link to the Fun Skirt"

That is not a skirt - it's a curtain

MakemineaGandT · 24/09/2009 15:21

Mrs Boden would love to have a Brora throw artfully draped over the arm of her sofa (actually, make that a pair of sofas looking at each other across a coffee table laden with lifestyle mags and Big Books of Artsy Photographs. In real life she has just the one sofa with a throw she found in the Debenhams sale folded over the arm....

She has a chocolate lab with a slightly pretentious name - perhaps a Roman goddess name or something with a Scottish/Welsh/Irish connection

She used to work in accountancy/law/finance and pretends she misses it a little but gave it all up for the children. In fact she couldn't wait to leave and pregnancy gave her the perfect excuse to jack all that malarky in. She says airily that she'd like to do something "a little more creative" once the youngest starts school......

MakemineaGandT · 24/09/2009 15:26

Mrs Boden doesn't let her children have lunchboxes with TV programme characters on them - yuk.

She dresses her children in cutesy white frilly nighties with collars (Sophia/Isabella) and blue-checked brushed cotton PJ's (Oliver/Freddie). They'd really prefer something emblazoned with Hello Kitty or Lazytown but that would be naf.
