Actually, I just realised that I know someone who is a Future Mrs Boden. I don't know why I didn't think of her earlier ...

Her name is Kate.
She works in Financial Services (but is actually incredibly rubbish, so will probably go part-time, become a SAHM as soon as the opportunity arises).
Her other shops of choice are Jigsaw, Laura Ashley, sometimes Monsoon, would NEVER be seen anywhere near Topshop: it's indecent.
Her hobbies include singing in a choir.
She has blonde hair and is slim.
Her boyfriend (future Mr Boden) is training to be an officer in the army. They'll probably get married at a cricket club.

MaggieBeauLeo · 24/09/2009 15:45

very witty you all are.

Top marks to "doing drugs in a hotchpotch top" and I partic. like the cynical assessment of Jonnie's view of the perfect woman! Intelligent but runs a good house! lol.

I shouldn't even know about Boden. I wouldnt if it weren't for MN. NObody in Ireland has heard of it. If i wore a cloudspotter to pick up the children on the school run, somebody would be sure to say, "is that from a child's range?!"

MaggieBeauLeo · 24/09/2009 15:49

I almost bought my son a thomas the tank engine hoodie the other day... in a moment of screw the middle-class lotayuz kind of way. but it was 13 euro, so not a point worth making i decided, not at that price..

I do find that obsession with 'no tv characters' quite self-consciously uptight. Wouldn't usually buy them, but if I were given Fifi pjs for my dc1, I wouldn't start a thread about it!

DillyTantay · 24/09/2009 16:01

oh she has deffo snorted coke

Grisette · 24/09/2009 16:06

I think boden is very good quality, but a lot of it is very twee.

tulpe · 24/09/2009 16:07

oh yes, Dilly. Of course, coke.

And she gets pissed on chardonnay/rose/shiraz (delete according to time of year) with her other mum friends on a friday afternoon on the pretence of getting the kids together to play.

She was rather put out by an article in the Observer earlier this year that feeding your kids pasta & pesto for supper was no healthier than feeding them fishfingers and chips

Ruby.....because I do it too

HerHonesty · 24/09/2009 16:18

not sure about the coke thing actually. more of wino i reckon. would secretly love to be snorting coke but life isnt quite that exciting...

MaggieBeauLeo · 24/09/2009 16:25

I agree herhonesty. I think she aspires to live in a halladjoining where you have to pay £10 for a book of parking permits.

Bleh · 24/09/2009 16:30

I also agree with herhonesty. Much more likely to have once taken a toke on a spliff (but not inhaled!) at a party in a country house when at Uni.

TokenFemale · 24/09/2009 16:35

Def not coke.

But maybe sometimes has a crafty fag after dropping the kids off at school.

Then sprays herself with Chanel Chance to disguise the smell

MarshaBrady · 24/09/2009 16:36

I'd say no to all drugs, even a crafty smoke tbh.

Perhaps a sneaky chocolate muffin in the bathroom away from the children.

KingRolo · 24/09/2009 16:42

Oh, I think Mrs Boden would have been a definite 'just say no' kind of girl who maybe, secretly, aspired to be thought of as the kind of girl who might have had a toke on a spliff at a party.

higgle · 24/09/2009 16:45

Not quite on target but on an island in the Indian Ocean last week I met a representative of the World Wildlife Trust - she was German and didn't converse much. Her only comment to me in 4 days was "my top is Boden and your dress is Boden" this Boden lady is the sort who likes to wear a roll up and crinkle dress umpteen days in a row to save on packing. (50+, overweight and harassed)

Prunerz · 24/09/2009 16:49

I don't own any Boden.
Every time I've said to someone 'ooh that's nice' they say 'Boden'. But I still can't bring myself to buy any
I have just bought a pair of sofas though.

PutDown · 24/09/2009 16:55

HerHonesty · 24/09/2009 16:56

but didnt really like the dope, it just made her fall asleep.
and giggles hysterically, nervously when she walks into a room where clearly there has been something illegal going on.

OrmIrian · 24/09/2009 17:08

She had too long skinny legs.
She had too long straight hair.
She has a too long straight nose.
In fact she looks like an overbred race horse.

She bakes but doesn't eat.

OrmIrian · 24/09/2009 17:09

Matilda

bodeniites · 24/09/2009 17:15

a Scottish Mrs Boden she lives in Morningside, Edinburgh as that is where the only Waitrose is,she has 2 boys called Roary and Hamish who go to a private school as day pupils, she wont admit Glasgow is better for shopping, she has trouble with her pelvic floor but will only order tena lady online and never joins in the mums race at school

ShowOfHandsInEpistolaryForm · 24/09/2009 17:32

Boden Woman spends bank holiday Monday at a local heritage windmill, her children dressed in clashing stripes and spots, coupled with crocs, her husband forced into linens and sandals. She is desperately directing William and Sophia in the maypole dancing with a slightly too loud voice and her husband is wishing he was in the pub. She is looking happily forward to the next season's fashions, he is looking sadly back at their days at Durham when she still gave out blow jobs without the promise of a new fun teadress.

aarghhelp · 24/09/2009 17:37

I have bought lots of Boden for my going back to work wardrobe cos I lost a lot of weight and needed some new clothes. Doctor (not GP). Don't have much time to shop in real life. Also want stuff that is a) smart b) but feminine and not offputting for patients (am thinking of charity shopping my one pinstripe suit c) machine washable d) doesn't need to be ironed .

Got most of it up to 75% off in the sale though. No dog. Live in country. Nearest shop is Waitrose. We are really a bit hippie-ish.

Really good thing IMO about Boden is the measurements. It really helps to work out what is likely to fit.

And no, I quite possibly wouldn't have seen the attraction of eg gilets and puffa coats and generally wanting to look mildly stylish in a very practical way before I became a mum.

scampadoodle · 24/09/2009 18:29

The Boden children have Scottish names despite the only scottish connection being a great great great great great grandfather who owned a Highland estate but actually lived in London.

There are 5 Boden children so that Mr & Mrs Boden can subtly demonstrate that they are wealthy (they can afford 5 sets of school fees)

They live in South West London and have a second home in Southwold.

francagoestohollywood · 24/09/2009 18:38

"Oh, I think Mrs Boden would have been a definite 'just say no' kind of girl who maybe, secretly, aspired to be thought of as the kind of girl who might have had a toke on a spliff at a party"
