Thank you to the mumsnetter who mentionned this a few days ago! I looked it up and have done it a couple of times, and it is fantastic! It has made such an amazing difference to my skin in such a short time: it is much clearer, softer, with no dry patches, and some old stubborn blackheads are finally gone. And it is cheap! What's not to like!

Christina not using anything else now just wash with water in the morning and do ocm at night im just worried that maybe is because of the sebhoerric eczema. Could it be the fact that im using a oil? What should i do should i keep on with it to see if it does improve or stop immediatly.
Any one else using this regime with my condition?

I thought castor oil was the key thing due its healing potentials??
Perhaps i just need to give it longer as you say maybe it is all the grime coming out!(YUK) only been 4 days now.
Bludy skin conditions all i ask for i a clear complextion.

Just reviving this to say that I switched to Rice Bran oil after trying various combinations of olive oil, sunflower oil and castor oil, and the rice bran is the best so far, leaves skin lovely and soft.

I didn't get on with the caster oil at all so use rice bran oil on its own.

Got mine at Tesco, the brand name is Alfa One, about £1.70 for 500mls, so a bargain too.

I know this is an old thread but have an OCM query. I have been using this method for just two days (following the recommendation on the Looking Perky In January thread) and my skin already looks loads better. I am so pleased - my skin has been awful since I had the contraceptive implant put in last April and I have been in despair about it. I'm getting married in May and had got my GP to prescribe some horrible antibiotics to try and improve it for the wedding - it had got a bit better but I was still getting spots and had awful blackheads. However, I am halfway through a course of professional Dermalogica facials and am reluctant to stop them as I've paid in advance. Has anyone combined OCM with professional facials or will it mess my skin up? Thanks.

Poppity · 16/01/2010 13:06

I was just going to post about this too, since reading it on the same thread.

I am using peanut oil and a bit of rose water, as that is what I had lying around.

It says on the site that it should be done regularly but not too often, so what does everyone do on days they are not using this?

Also, I like to use a daily moisturiser with a sunscreen in it. The guidelines don't mention moisturising in the morning, and I wasn't sure if it's ok to do both?

I have been doing it for 3 days now, and my skin is actually a bit greasy(usually dry with slightly oily forehead), but it does say to expect that so I'm persevering. I will try adding some castor oil if it doesn't settle.

loveina, I don't know anything about combining it with facials, sorry. Hopefully someone well versed in this will turn up soon!

Are there any experts still watching this thread? Have been using ocm in the hope that it would deal with some blind whiteheads on my cheekbones....no change after 2 weeks. Am using castor and olive oil 20/80 and I really hoped it would be magical!

CarGirl · 22/08/2010 20:36

blind whiteheads may not be spots they may be those fatty solid deposit things IYSWIM

stainesmassif · 22/08/2010 20:40

No, please tell me how to make them go away!

anapaula31 · 23/08/2010 12:34

Thanks mammya- I will try to get it from tesco, in the winter my skin gets really dry Sad

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2010 22:52

Well I am going to do this for the first time tonight :)

sansucre · 02/10/2010 23:39

stainesmassif I think what you actually have a Milia. If they are, they should really be removed by a professional beautician.

loveinacoldclimate I think it's probably best you ask your facialist, she'll know about the OCM and she'll be able to advise accordingly.

poppity I'd suggest you start off using the oil combinations as recommended on the OCM website and if it's not achieving the results you'd like after a few weeks, then try substituting other oils.

I do OCM in the evening and in the morning, I just press a hot flannel over my face, followed by moisturiser as usual.

kikid · 02/10/2010 23:46

What does chistiana keep saying , that gets her messages withdrawn????

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2010 06:38

probably some sort of advertising
Well that was odd, is it normal to feel like you hvae a face full of grease? Or did I use too much?

DaisySteiner · 28/10/2010 17:15

Have just tried this with 10% castor oil and 90% almond oil. My skin didn't feel at all greasy afterwards, just nice and soft, although when I was stroking the dog just now he would not stop sniffing my face and then tried to lick it! Angry
