Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Hello all, very busy here as usual.

Duchess - we have bilbies, which are sort of rat-like but very cute. Well I think they're bilbies . Yesterday our playdate's mum spent rather a long time in the garden sweeping up possum poo at the request of the 5 year olds screaming "POO, POOOOOO! SWEEP IT UP!!! POO." I thought it was rather sweet .

Ureb - for DS. I had a thumbnail ripped out as a child and it wasn't entirely pleasant. Happy anniversary though , hope he's ok now.

Happy belated birthdays to all.

Hope life is getting less stressful WWW, that 11+ certainly seems to be a nightmare for all (and I remember preparing for 2 years for my 13+, which wasn't entirely relaxing).

Bootcamp-wise, I'm rather pleased that this thread reminded me to exfoliate. I bought an exfoliating glove instead of a $75 exfoliating potion and it's much, much more effective. I am now scale free and moisturised with some gorgeous Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and honey stuff I'd forgotten about.

I've been to the gym every day, doing 500 cals plus weights and am another 2kg down (4.4lb). Still look fat though . The sun has finally come out and so it's farewell to the patented low cal soup and hello to salads . On the plus side DSS is flying out in 6 weeks, so DP is also on the salads . We're really looking forward to seeing him, he'll be living with us now he's graduated (with a first, - am allowed to do this as he is not fruit of my own loins, merely the recipient of my xbox 360 nuturing).

arfishy · 25/09/2008 07:53

X-Posts there WWW. You have me all confused by being up.

foxinsocks · 25/09/2008 08:00

helloo just a quick visit - dh still away and work totally mad so have been dashing about. Am actually paying for youngest sister (some of you may remember her from my Christmas thread where she managed to miss her flight over here on Xmas Eve and she spent hours on the phone weeping while I spent £££ getting her to London by Christmas grrrrr) to come over here next week to help out because I am struggling with work and the kids and the nanny and fitting it all in without dh.

4 fatalities and counting on transport this week - Monday, a motorbike went under the wheels of a lorry on the Westway as I was driving in, Tuesday, suicide at Earlsfield (which totally screwed up my journey home, took almost 2.5 hrs grrr) and yesterday, a bike went under the wheels of a lorry on Kingsway near the office (dead instantly) and grid locked the whole area. ANd now this morning, another fatality on SWTrains at Ashtead. There's something odd about this week. Has left me feeling a bit shivers down the spine type thing.

birthday wishes to L&S.

Did someone mention winter vomiting bug ? Wrote us all off for a week last time so I'm hoping it misses us out.

hope you are all well...

Hey everyone, mumsnet is OFFLINE at 10pm tonight so a good chance to get a v early night here

Am typing this while stuffing in salad of baby spinach (natch), tomatoes, mozz, serrano ham and fresh anchovies (are these an option for you www? I love 'em). All - except anchovies - bought in Lidl (see eye-rolling ignorance thread )

Must admit to a peanut Kitkat yesterday (not just choc but N*stle choc, the shame of it).

Buboe is receding. No longer visible from distance of more than 50metres.

Happiness: not bad - work contract arrived yesterday offering a bit more money than I was expecting, so that is marvellous. Still crap wage considering, but might hold the wolf from the door for a bit. Also just received letter telling me I passed my training with Distinction. Which Is Nice. Still irritated at foot-dragging incompetence of NMC, though.

Water: tick
Slathering of unguents and oils: tick
Exercise: ummm...
No booze since Saturday
Bed: about 10.30 yesterday, result

FIS: hope there were no more travel-related disasters today. And at fingernail, ureb - hope ds is OK.

Nearly the weekend!

LOVE the video, just what I needed

Cammelia · 26/09/2008 22:01

Hi people. So, had big supper out with good friend last night, this morning another friend wonders if I can go out to lunch.

As I'm just the girl who can't say no, I feel very bootcamp-bad

It was all made so much worse by these two friends being the type who exercise a lot (like I used to) and the delicious meals we ahd won't even touch them.

Ah well, happiness quotient increased considerably, and it was lovely and sunny out today

arfishy · 26/09/2008 23:19

Groan. I'm off to another champagne and chocolate fountain breakfast. This is the worst time of the year to lose weight. I am going to be chained to the gym.

I am baking an interesting 3 ingredient fruit cake to take with me - 1kg mixed fruit, 600ml chocolate milk and 2 cups self raising flour. The rest are going on to the races so I thought it would help soak up the booze. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

Marina · 27/09/2008 09:33

That cake does sound intriguing!
Will be back later, have had ludicrously hectic "day off" due to ds' pal's brother breaking his wrist badly. So we had an extra guest to tea. All well-behaved, but chatty!
Must get back in bootcamp groove. Yesterday was not good due to constantly changing logistics
Good weekend all. I took enif's advice from another thread and although I could not track down Happy Days, I am now the proud owner of a bottle of Solgar 5-HTP instead. Watch out for a more mellow marina.
Oh, and Versdesociete will be along presently I think ladies

arfishy · 27/09/2008 13:11

The cake was amazing. Really moist and fruity. I am .

WideWebWitch · 27/09/2008 13:53

Terrible carb fest yesterday

2 pieces wholemeal toast, Marmite
prawn mayo sandwich
singapore noodles,
duck in pancakes, hoisin sauce
veg spring roll
prawn crackers
wine

so far today, 2 pain au chocolat

must get back on I&N wagon next week

OP posts:
Snaf · 27/09/2008 14:00

Step away from the pain au choc, www

I have been vvvv rubbish too, though, so can't talk. It started with pasta on Thurs night and went downhill from there. I bought ds a 6-pack of those little Kinder bars - and have so far eaten 4 of them. DS hasn't had a look-in. I am a bad mother and a carb bloater to boot. I think I am officially bingeing

Will be back on the wagon on Monday, but am out for dinner tonight and won't pretend that I'll conform...

unknownrebelbang · 27/09/2008 16:53

This is what I ate on Thursday night:

Appetisers
Creamy Pea & Cucumber Soup with Stilton Cheese Scone
Gateau of Alsager Oatcakes with Cheshire Air Dried Ham & Mrs Kirkham's Tasty Lancashire Cheese
Slow Roast Shoulder of Deemster House Farm Lamb stuffed with Minted Forcemeat with Parisienne Potatoes & Honeyed Jus
and a bite of DH's duck
with fresh Market Vegetables & Potato Garnis
1/2 portion of crumble and custard
1/2 portion of rum n raisin cheesecake
and some of DH's lemon meringue
A House Selection of Cheese served with Relish, Biscuits & Garnis
Tea & Petit Fours

But only 1/2 a glass of wine

And do you know what? It was blardy gorgeous!

I have, however, been very restrained since then...

unknownrebelbang · 27/09/2008 17:03

DS1 is okish. Plenty of painkillers taken, but he's managing. Thankfully he has his father's can-do attitude (when it suits) rather than my pitifulness .

unknownrebelbang · 27/09/2008 17:05

No confession from vers yet, I see?

Mumi · 27/09/2008 17:38

Back in late on this again but no news has been pretty good news.

Freshers' week and DS coming first got well in the way of eating and sleeping properly in the beginning as I expected, but making sure I'm drinking water while I'm out and knew my body would inevitably make me succumb to sleep, which it did last night - 9 hours! Also ordering a rice/slow cooker to sort out the eating part. Drank last weekend at that party but nothing else all week and on my own this weekend as well so will probably give it a miss.

Have been putting on fuller's earth as a face pack before cleansing with Clinique anti-blemish soap, toning with witch hazel, moisturising with after sun and washing as soon as I get home which is really doing the trick as my skin is the best it's been in years!

Had a lovely day yesterday with DS. His school had a teacher training day and his dad/my XP is abroad so I asked if he could come with me to university as we were only collecting timetables and having photographs taken for campus cards. My tutor said yes

Despite my prior instruction, DS did talk about sorting out his willy and bum on the train and in the photograph queue (think I've shrunk his pants in the dryer ) but he was an angel in the lab. We went on to the little putting green across the road and had a light lunch at Nando's, after we walked the old town walls and he rode on a mini fairground ride at the market before we caught the train back.

Having got up at 5.30 and been out 12 hours with lots of walking around town browsing the shops inbetween (and DS nearly falling asleep on the bus from the station home), we both got very early nights

Hugs to all, especially yoyo - fantastic news and to WWW - one week of a 4 hour a day commute alone made me crumble last night, let alone the next 3 years of it I've let myself in for! Glad the end's in sight for you

foxinsocks · 27/09/2008 20:24

batters - don't know about the cyclist on thurs though it wouldn't surprise me

went back to hosp to get results of endoscopy. All ok other than the inflammation but they are concerned that I am still losing weight and becoming more and more anaemic. Either I am 1. bleeding from somewhere like inside my bowel or 2. (more likely they think), I have some sort of small bowel condition that is causing me not to absorb the nutrients from food properly.

Thing is, I only get these symptoms in sort of relapses and I'm having one now so they wanted to do the scans straight away but dh is away, dd got ill and I had to stay at home and now next week, I have a murderous week at work so not sure what will happen. Will maybe try to have the scan next Friday. Have lost 4kg in around 4 weeks from doing nothing but it will all come back on once this is over (probably in a week's time!).

Hope everyone's jobs are ok. Realised today dh and I are in the situation now where both of us absolutely have to work full time to make ends meet. Not a great thing to realise!

TheDuchessOfNork · 27/09/2008 20:27

Hello all, hope you're enjoying this fine UK weather.

I have been swimming 3 days in a row and feel very stretched, not to mention virtuous. No opportunity to go running though.

Water & food good except the half of a large bag of Burts crisps I ate on Thursday night.

Have been getting to bed around midnight, which is an improvement but I'm aiming for 11.30pm.

No plans for tomorrow other than pottering in the garden.

WideWebWitch · 27/09/2008 21:36

God that menu sounds divine ureb!

FIS, please, I hope you don't mind my saying this but prioritise your health over work etc...

Mumi, yes, IU do 4.5 hrs a day and it's killing

I have indulged big time, it's lovely.
