Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Oops my typing is testament to the volume of wine consum ed

unknownrebelbang · 19/09/2008 22:22

www, trust you are enjoying your evening.

mmmm, home made plum jam sounds delish.

Moonshine, don't be too - at least half of that is what I put on over the summer holiday, and the rest is no doubt down to stress! (which is a bit odd as I'm usually a comfort-eater.)

Anyhoo, got the results of the monitor back and I am now on medication. I'm resigned to the fact and don't feel too stressed about it.

Have a great weekend everyone.

unknownrebelbang · 19/09/2008 23:19

ooh forgot this little tale...

Bless me Father for I have sinned.

I did try my best to attend the school/church service this afternoon, but the buzzer obviously isn't working, so no one came to let me in (AND they started early cos I was definitely there on time!).

Anyhoo, J (a Grandad who was also locked out) took me to the pub instead....(and in fine bootcamp tradition, stuck to diet coke and walked back down to school, hehe).

Marina · 20/09/2008 09:03

Morning all! LOLOL at going to the pub instead of family service ureb...I wish our church had a buzzer for these occasions. Sorry about having to go on to medication though
A good day at bootcamp yesterday went badly downhill from 7.30pm...wine, blueberry tart (small though and full of only lightly cooked blueberries, so clock the antioxidants on that) and I did have grilled chicken and it is not my fault it turned up with a delicious and tenacious parmesan herb crust
High on happiness stakes though. Lovely evening with bad women . Sounds like saggars enjoyed herself too last night!
A rare day not immured in the office today so will get out and enjoy the sunshine. Ds is off to the Davis Cup finals and I think he will need plenty of sunscreen - maybe we can finally use some of the barely-touched quart pot we bought for our hols.
Am also at the sound of home made plum jam, and emphatically not at the horrendous slurry
Glad you are feeling more cheery today JJ
Now, anyone seen batters, or have her legs really, truly, dropped off due to over-use? Come in batters!

tigermoth · 20/09/2008 13:02

Good morning everyone. Hope all of us get out in the sunshine, summer is here at last!

Batters are you with us? (actually I hope you are asleep right now, as you deserve to be, sleeping the sleep of the virtuous).

jj, your day in Camden soundsjust the sort of day I like, too - applaud you for both running and cycling!

I am tidying up the loft, taking things up and bringing things down, so our bedrooms are gradually looking more empty and there is a growing pile of ds's baby stuff ready to go to the charity shop. I am 'gently glowing' with all the exertion.

Then off to the park I hope, and off to Camber Sands for a day at the seaside tomorrow.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/09/2008 18:10

lol at your pub visit ureb. Sorry about the meds. What have they put you on? Has dh been bust today ? - I mistakenly tried to go up Victoria Road this afternoon and was met by the banner waving racist twats BNP march. Twas grim.

Despite being a leetle bit hungover this morning I managed a run. The weather was just too nice to miss it and I did need to rid myself of the excess calories consumed.

unknownrebelbang · 20/09/2008 22:17

DH is busy, but thankfully not involved in that farce (or he wasn't supposed to be...). Yes I had the misfortune to come across a bunch of them whilst out walking this morning before they started delivering leaflets - not 100 yards from the house we used to live in - ironically stood outside the Greek-owned chippie. They made my skin crawl (and bear in mind I work with folk that make yer skin crawl!). Grim indeed.

I'm on Bendo, bendro a diuretic. I'm remarkably chilled about it tbh - in fact the only stressful time I had today was having to walk past those twats above.

arfishy · 21/09/2008 00:52

I knew it would be tricky staying on the straight and narrow when we stayed over at our Irish friends house.

Two words - Champagne breakfast.

WideWebWitch · 21/09/2008 08:38

Hello everyone!

Friday night:
pork, apple sauce, roast potatoes, cheese
wine
Champagne
very late but enjoyable night
oops

So, as a result, yesterday:

bacon sandwich
then ex dh drove me home as he was coming to our house anyway to see ds so I went into the crappy shop next to his flat and bought
Fox's butter crunch biscuits
muffins, the sweet type and ate a cherry muffin and loads of biscuits on way home
toast x 2 with butter
vesuvio pizza with pepperoni, chillis
garlic bread
tawa gost curry
oriental rice
naan
chana masala
Cava but only 3 glasses
some M&Ms which I don't even like but wanted something sweet since I was breaking my diet

and we watched 21 on the projector, really enjoyed it and can recommend.

Spent most of yesterday in pyjamas (once I was home anyway), actually, all of yesterday come to think of it! And ex dh took dd out to the shops and dh waited on me hand and foot as I was feeble and hungover, it was most enjoyable!

Happy weekend everyone. I really do have to be better next week! This weekend has been an enormous carb blowout, oops.

today
2 pain au chocolat
hmm.

OP posts:
Snaf · 21/09/2008 13:44

Have fallen off the wagon in spectacular style too, www - it's been carb city (and Not Enough Water) chez snaf but hell, it's the weekend

Out last night for curry and copious amounts of wine - marvellous. Managed to do our usual trick of clearing the restaurant - I don't consider it a decent night out unless the waiters are hoovering around us . Woke feeling slightly murky so obviously had to scarf down much bread and cereal and cups of sweet tea, whilst reading papers in bed. Oh well. Tomorrow is another day and all that.

tigermoth - hope you had a lovely time at Camber - I absolutely love it there.

Marina - hehehehe at 'bad women'. So much fun. I have realised over the last couple of days how very lucky I am with my gorgeous, funny, smart female friends; they do a lot for my Happiness Quotient.

Discovered a rather luxurious rose-scented body oil in the back of a drawer on Friday, so am soft and smelly (in a good way).

Another week over

LoveAndSqualor · 21/09/2008 16:05

Snaf, LOL at your post. Just generally lol . I have a group of splendid female friends, too, all definitely the sort of bad women to whom Marina refers; and I am no stranger, either, to the sight of hoovering waiters

DP took DS down to his parents' yesterday am (they're on the train back now), so I've spent the weekend with the lopsided feeling of a suddenly armless person ... have missed him really rather a lot, but distracted myself with copious amounts of wine with my sister, a lie-in and a nap this afternoon! Off to meet them in a second. Oh and had my haircut yesterday so am feeling very sleek and shiny. Am thinking the extra sleep negates the booze in bootcamp stakes. Ahem.

After this weekend off, am gearing up for another week of break-up admin, sigh. Made trickier by the fact that it is mine and DP's birthday (we have it on the same day!) on tues, which feels a bit like having a spotlight turned on the whole thing, tbh. He is going out with friends while I stay in with aforementioned bad women. Was thinking I would get him The Wire season five as a present - a nice thing, but not at all romantic/relationshipy. Wisdom? Or madness? Oh and, was going to get him a cricket ball from DS (DP is cricket crazy, plays all the time - so thought this would be a nice gesture ... )

JJ · 21/09/2008 16:39

L&S - I think your gift ideas sound great. The cricket ball from your ds is especially sweet. Good luck this week!

Snaf, WWW, Marina, arfishy and SMBK - sounds like you guys had a very good weekend! Hope the hangovers have subsided.

tigermoth - Camber Sands sounds lovely and it was a gorgeous day today.

ureb - sorry about the medication, but glad you're not feeling too stressed about it all. That's so funny about the church service!

Had an ok weekend. We just went to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars (I gave in to my youngest's pleading). It is terrible. Don't do it. He enjoyed it though, which is what it's all about, I suppose.

Am making cookies to take into school tomorrow (it's his bday) and then will make a cake for tea tomorrow. So am planning on not being very good food-wise over the next few days, but enjoying it immensely!

WideWebWitch · 21/09/2008 17:17

Hello, L&S that sounds lovely, esp cricket ball

omg Snaf at carb fest, I have actually not been feeling too great for it, I do think wheat doesn't particularly agree with me.

JJ, I can get out of going to Clone wars, dh will go, thank goodness!

Arfy, omg at the decadence of a Champagne breakfast, how lovely! I would only be able to handle that if I could go straight back to bed.

Unreb, glad you're feeling more relaxed about the medication.

Saggars, well done on running

Marina, oh you had to work, what a pita, I hope your Sunday has been good though and yes, where IS Batters? I hope her walk was good and her dd is sleeping.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 21/09/2008 17:22

Today

the aforementioned pain au chocolat x 2
chorizo, lots
cambozola, large piece
omelette with cheese and tarragon
water
and having 2 chicken legs for supper

And we had to clean the house as we don't have a cleaner atm and have decided we need to get one again asap as it was BORING and horrible and we were both grumpy by the end of it.

tigermoth · 22/09/2008 07:57

JJ, happy birthday to your youngest - it's my dh's birthday today, as well. I have so far have avoided seeing Clone Wars - I can quite imagine how much I would not enjoy it.

www, very good of you and dh to spend yesterday doing housework in this gorgeous weather. Hope you've woken up to a clean house and the start of a good week.

Good luck with work, all those people who are facing a hard week.

Camber was lovely - I just wish I'd got myself into gear to go earlier as I intended to be there around eleven-ish but somehow got waylaid on mumsnet, (as you do) so didn't get there till after midday. Still, it looks like this weather is going to last as bit, so hopefully we'll do something similar next weekend.

LoveAndSqualor · 22/09/2008 10:19

cor, it's birthday central round here this week! There are so many birthdays around this time in September - which is, coincidentally, exactly nine months after christmas

Thanks for approbation re present choices; DS and I will be off down the shops today. Argh, he wakes - more later!

Marina · 22/09/2008 10:40

zzzzzzzz

Marina · 22/09/2008 10:48

Morning all, how tired am I?
Bazillions of trippers during a v. successful but exhausting Open House yesterday, not home til 7pm, back at the ranch working til 7pm tonight...
Did manage good walking yesterday and pretty healthy lunch (minuscule picnic supplied by gym bunny colleague in marketing). Sleep is a thing of the past. Should really have not necked half bottle of wine at 10pm last night methinks
Agree those present ideas sound fine L&S, have a good shopping trip, and respect to www and the cleaning dual cyclone (don't forget www is a sunlight refusenik though tigermoth). Dh had decontaminated our food waste bin when I got home and had to lie down to recover. So rest of house is A State while wheelybin is pristine. Might move in there for a few days
you know what snaf? I can remember a time when things were not easy for you on the home front. It is so great to read your posts these days and hear how much happier you sound. Women friends are a boon when life is giving you a kicking.
Am so glad ds has decided to be lofty about Clone Wars
Happy bootcamping all!

foothesnoo · 22/09/2008 17:19

Not a great weekend food wise - the nadir was hot dogs and lots of wine while watching strictly! Lots of sunshine though and, although have been rushing around all weekend, did have a good one. Sympathies Marina at having to work.

It's my dd's birthday soon so she can be added to the list of Sept birthdays here. Have had endless discussions on what to get her with DH - which probably means she doesn't actually NEED anything at all. Had a lovely afternoon shopping on Sat with my ds for his present for her. he had a list of lots of things he had noticed she had her eye on - he'll make someone a great DP one day if he carries on like that!

Am about to start a thread on how impossible I am finding the whole food issue. I have no time either to shop or cook - or rather I do but at the expense of the hour I get to sit down with DP in the evening. DP does cook but I have realised I just can't trust him to make sure the kids get enough fruit and veg - and he feeds them two or three nights a week before I get home. And have piles of ironing of Everest proportions! Just don't feel on top of things atm.

I have sat through Clone Wars. Dire - although the cod ewan-mcgregor accent made me laugh and I was also in awe at DS's seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of all thinsg Star-wars (he had to do quiet a lot of explaining). Think he may be at least NVQ standard.

L and S you sound un good spirits and am sure the weekend will have done you good. Your present ideas sound perfect - hitting just the right tone.

Am hungry now having read through all the food - homemade plum jam yum!

Snaf · 22/09/2008 19:30

Marina, thank you for remembering - I'm really touched by your post

I have eaten so much spinach today I will be propositioning our very own oliveoil before long...

WideWebWitch · 22/09/2008 21:02

Hello all

Quickly, since I've only been in an hour

3 sausages

was taken out to lunch and had 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, mushrooms, black pudding, lettuce and tomatoes
and came in to LOVELY pork chop with green beans and garlic, made by dh

no wine, obv, am back to the week
going to bed by 10 tonight

Where IS Batters?

OP posts:
moondog · 22/09/2008 23:12

How come you eat so much cheese and processed meat WWW? It can't be good for yuo?
(Genuine question)

WideWebWitch · 23/09/2008 10:15

Because I'm doing India and Neris Moonshine. And it's all organic. I usually eat more spinch and green beans but I was taken out for lunch yesterday so chose what I could from a cafe menu.

There's nothing wrong with cheese! Or organic meat with no crap in it!
