Oh, & the boots ... nope! That's not to say you couldn't go for boots - but not those ones!

EleanorMc67 · 23/10/2026 03:45

Also, ankle boots would only work with the jumpsuit? You'd need higher boots if they were to work with the dress as well. And I don't think that much metallic leather encasing your legs is a good idea for a wedding ...

EleanorMc67 · 23/10/2026 03:49

Gold shoes that you can buy new & first-hand, ie directly from the store.

https://www.johnlewis.com/carvela-alina-slingback-court-shoes-gold/p112940070 - Carvela, plastic, £59, average-looking.

Carvela again, £79, synthetic & also currently not in your size. Also average-looking IMO & way overpriced (they're actually £119 on John Lewis!).

Clark's, synthetic, £45, average-looking.

Jones, £89 - real leather!!! But there's something quite frumpy dowdy boring about them ...?

The Kurt Geiger ones you liked, though not currently in your size. Also synthetic & overpriced at £79. And quite average-looking too.

Gabor, leather (& so they should be at £115 ...), dowdy IMO. Though no doubt comfy.

Any chance you can post the jumpsuit op? I’ve not got a hope in hell of finding it in that last thread !

EleanorMc67 · 23/10/2026 04:39

Now that I've hopefully put you off all those gold shoes by Clark's/KG/Carvela/Gabor ... here's my shortlist of gold footwear that you can buy firsthand, & that I think are most promising, in a range of prices ...!!

Firstly, the Zara ones. Big plus points:

  • They're £36.
  • They're a great shape! Far & away the most elegant but also modern-looking.
  • The crackle effect softens them & makes them less obviously synthetic.
  • The heel is not only lovely, it also looks comfy.
  • If you don't wear them again, you should get a good amount back on re-sale sites.

Minus points:

  • They're synthetic.
  • They might be too bright a gold - but it's still definitely worth checking them out, as photos aren't always accurate on colour.

Secondly, these Air & Grace ones. But I think they were linked before & you weren't keen on the style, OP?

https://airandgracelondon.com/products/ariel-pointed-t-bar-mid-heel-gold-leather

Pluses are that they're leather, elegant & contemporary, & will be comfy as they're known for that. Minus is that they're £185, so only worth paying if you really like them!

Although, you would get a good amount back on resale platforms as they're an "in" brand & style - a pair just sold in your size for £136 on eBay ...

EleanorMc67 · 23/10/2026 04:54

Thirdly, these ones by Cerene. It's a new brand, exclusive to Next, founded by an ex-AllSaints designer.

They're leather, look really comfy, have a great heel & look a little bit different (as do the previous two). Minus point is that they're £135. (Oh, they also come in a fab green!)

So those three above - Zara, Air & Grace, & Cerene - are my three favourites if you definitely want to buy new from the physical/online retailer.

But I've also found some great options on Vinted/eBay/Vestiaire Collective - if you're willing to buy from a re-sale platform ...

What time roughly is the wedding @ihaveafavouritecat? If it’s daytime, I’m not sure in Winter light some of those cheaper gold shoes will look right. I still think I’d go for the brown shoes (I like the gold detail on the M & S leather ones below) with the teal dress and the black satin Mango ones with the jumpsuit.
You have never worn gold shoes, I wouldn’t start at the wedding, it’s not you. If it means the cuff can’t be worn, then so be it - the ring and earrings would still look good though. The cuff can then be worn with the jumpsuit and get plain pale textured gold earrings to match it?

That's partly why I think bronze would be better - they'd go with both outfits. But was linking gold options first, as that's what the OP had decided to go for to link with her jewellery (at least, that was the latest direction!!). The OP doesn't wear black shoes either, I don't think?

minnowonthesay · 23/10/2026 06:21

I think we have option paralysis @EleanorMc67 😂 I think the OP was wearing black shoes in one of the very first pics? I’m
If brown shoes are worn, how about a tortoise shell bag?

I’d pop in to new look and river island and m &s and try some on

As long as they don’t look cheap I don’t think it matters about materials or longevity, they just need to do you through an couple of days

They look comfy, are a very nice shape, & are leather. All good - but once the OP takes her coat off they'll be the only brown things she will be wearing? Plus, they are rather more board-meeting-in-the-office than fabulous-Mother-of-the-Groom, IMO ...

You're right about the gold - but I think it's because the shoes & bag are both the same (fake?) very smooth leather. If the materials are mixed up a bit, it will look more organic than matchy-matchy.

I don't disagree with any of that, but are they (the shoes) fine? Will OP look nice in them and be comfortable in her own skin, and everyone will think they're unobjectionable and appropriate? IMO yes, and at this point I think that's what she needs. It might not be what you or I would choose to wear, but the dress and jumpsuit are very nice and neutral minimal accessories will let them shine.

I think @minnowonthesay is right that OP has option/decision paralysis. OP did like the hard shell bags on thread 1 so the tortoiseshell might be a winner.

@ihaveafavouritecat What you're aiming for is for your bag and shoes to complement your dress and jewellery, but not match (as per the bedroom furniture example in previous thread). What you've got there is shiny gold jewellery, shiny gold shoes and a shiny gold bag. I hope that explains why some of us are saying it's not quite right.

Edited

Following through on suggestions made by others.

Bag with gold trim, links to OP’s gold jewellery (with the dress). Two ideas uploaded.

Carry with both the teal dress & jumpsuit.
Add brown fur jacket and brown suede heels.

Those shoes are very nice - I do like a classic high court - but high!!!

I don't think the OP is an animal
print fan, & the first ones are very high. The gold ones could work if, as you say, they don't look cheap in the flesh. I like the coffee-coloured version - but the fur jacket is very dark so it may bring another colour in. Unless the bag picks up that shade? But then I don't know that it would work with the jumpsuit?
