I live in Cornwall so there’s a lot of Seasalt around. Women from 30-100 wear them. Even my teenage daughter has a few basics from them as the quality is generally good.

I find the fit better for taller women. And their dresses can be a little narrow at the shoulder

Nat6999 · 21/10/2026 23:35

What are their leggings like? I've bought 3 pairs from Lovall & some more from M & S Thermals collection, are they thick & cosy or just normal thin ones?

mysoddenbananabread · 21/10/2026 23:44

The biggest problem with their dresses for me is the waistline which falls at the wrong line for me and the pouf of material they seem to insist on having right slap back in the middle.

honestly? old, frumpy, geography teacher vibes.

MerelyPlaying · 22/10/2026 00:13

Well clearly you’re not shopping there, @seanconneryseyebrow but thank you for that helpful contribution.
I like their stuff because it’s ethically sourced and produced and that’s something that’s important to me. Love their dresses, and I think they are true to size. The eBay outlet is definitely worth looking at.

Lurleene · 22/10/2026 00:24

I have lots of stuff from there and some of it has lasted years. I prefer the plain or stripes, not too keen on patterns on me. Another fan of the ebay outlet here.

I adore the socks, they wash well and feel lovely. They make great presents too.

I did buy a couple of 'Fruity' jumpers from there last year, and I like the style very much but they pill terribly so need a regular shave. Much like me 😊

Maybe they look like that on you.

The few Seasalt clothes I have don't make me look like an old, frumpy geography teacher. I steer clear of the heavily patterned designs and I am tall and slim and the cut and length seem to suit my shape.

My geography teacher was the most stylish woman in the school.

MIL is frumpy with geography teacher vibes, now very very old. When she was not so very old, she thought it very extravagant Grin. Too old now to purse her lips.

Love it. It's a good price point for the quality. Some pieces will obviously suit some people more than others. DD has a couple of jackets, she's 28!

RavenT · 22/10/2026 07:11

I'm busty and always have to size up by 1 or 2 sizes at Seasalt, I find their clothes a very neat fit around the chest and shoulder area.

moose62 · 22/10/2026 07:25

I really like their 100% cotton jumpers. I hate wool on my skin and these are just great. Very plain but can be worn with anything and are often on sale at a good price. Sizing is true to size and I often get asked where they come from and I don't consider myself old or frumpy!

Charlenedickens · 22/10/2026 07:28

I also find rhe clothes very dated . I think they fit a core demographic who are not looking to be in trend, but have reasonable quality staples at a reasonable price,

stickybear · 22/10/2026 07:30

I find the sizing variable, jumpers and tops can be very generous but I find their trousers come up small. It may be because I’m quite pear shaped but they don’t fit me well. I like the Easel T-shirts and Landing polo neck tops, and have some knitwear from there that I like too, although the prices for knitwear seem to have gone up a lot lately. Their returns process is brilliant, really quick.

fluffiphlox · 22/10/2026 07:51

I’m late 60s and my contemporaries like it - I think it’s quite dull

WorthyOpalZebra · 22/10/2026 07:54

I'm a big fan of their dresses for both summer (linen) and winter (corduroy) but I'm the wrong shape for their trousers. I'd say it's fairly priced for the quality and the physical shops are good. As others have said, the eBay outlet is great and the Janelle is my go-to coat in the winter. If I look like an aged geography teacher, then I don't care - it works for me.

RowanRainbow · 22/10/2026 08:02

I find Seasalt to be very good quality. Thick cotton tops and good coats. I have a Janelle for winter in a slate blue colour. It is waterproof and you can easily layer underneath for extra warmth. It’s the best and most versatile winter outdoor coat I have.

I can’t stand this ageist attitude. Some of the younger trends are objectively quite frumpy and dumpy too (baggy beige leisure wear, clumpy trainers, barrel jeans and boxy oversized jackets).

I do like seasalt quality but I do wish the prints were a bit more sophisticated and less drab.

Blueandgreencoloursflashing · 22/10/2026 08:11

LancashireButterPie · 21/10/2026 11:14

I told my DD I'd found a nice top in there and she said "oh no, you aren't old enough for that yet, Mum".
I'm retired.
It's put me off.

I'm in my 60s and don't take fashion advice from my 20 something daughter!

Seasalt is like many brands - some good stuff, some not.

Pickledonion1999 · 22/10/2026 08:23

I buy a lot of their tops and tunics although often from ebay. Always good quality and wash well.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 22/10/2026 08:25

RampantIvy · 21/10/2026 11:23

That's just being silly. If you like the top just buy it.

I hate the prejudice I read on here about certain brands of clothing and footwear. DD (26) has a Seasalt skirt. She doesn't hold preconceived ideas about some brands being only for old people because she is open minded.

I like the quality of Seasalt, but don't always like their colours or patterns. They currently have some beautiful knitwear in, but as most of it is hand wash only I shan't bother.

Exactly. My kids tell me I'm too young (at 66) for Cotton Trader clothes, but their walking trousers and coats are just what I need and not as pricey as some of the other brands!

So I just don't tell them where I bought the clothes.

AlertCat · 22/10/2026 08:39

I have some wool cardigans that I bought over ten years ago. I still wear one of them regularly and it still looks like new- certainly not ten years old! The other is still great but its colour hasn’t worked with my other clothes for a while, but I haven’t got rid of it because it’s done such good work over the years.

Last time I bought a cord pinafore dress I found it tight at the bust, but to be fair my boobs are a bigger size to the rest of me. That was also pre covid. I used to buy more from them; I think they and I diverged in taste for a while but I have been stalking a couple of things recently and got a very nice little jumper thing in the summer sale- slightly batwing, cropped sleeves, hip length, buttons up the back, lovely for transitional seasons/layering over long sleeve tops on mild days.

I also have a Janelle as my winter raincoat, I got it from their outlet shop on eBay a couple of years ago and it’s fantastic- long, still waterproof, warm, showing no sign of wear. It cost me about £60.

TL/DR yes, give them a go! Free returns from the main shop, so worth ordering a selection of things to try.

PussyGaylore · 22/10/2026 08:50

It’s excellent quality for the price. It’s not the most cool of clothing but it’s great for staples. I’ve got 2 of their linen summer dresses that are simple and classic and can be dressed up or down. Some of their plain knit ware is good too. Size wise they are true to size I would say.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 22/10/2026 08:56

I rate their rain coats, their knits and I am currently sitting in one of their fleece dressing gowns, happy print pattern, toasty and washes and wears brilliantly.

Hummusfiend · 22/10/2026 09:01

I have a few pieces - a fantastic denim skirt from last year and some lovely cardigans. They are good quality, wash well and have become staples. I have bought a few lovely bits for my DH too.

I am not as keen on the patterns as they are very identifiable and some of the shapes are a bit conservative. The colour ways can be a bit variable - last year wasn't great with a lot of washed out purple and teal, but there is always something lovely I want and as others have said - natural fibres, pretty good price point and great customer service. Also fun socks!

I totally agree. I think a lot of it is to do with the size and shape of the wearer and the fit of the clothes..

A few posters have said that the shoulders are narrow and the clothes aren't very roomy in the bust area. As I am not blessed in that area the clothes fit well on me, and I think I look better in clothes that fit properly where they need to fit. Even baggy clothes need to look right to look stylish.

We are lucky to have a Seasalt shop nearby and I pop in whenever I am in the area. More often than not I don't buy anything as usually the muted colours and loud patterns just don't appeal to me, but now and again I find a real gem.

I did once have a lovely merino jumper from there but it pilled really badly and I got fed up of having to shave it all the time. Their current knitwear offer is lovely, but it is all hand wash only, so I am going to pass.
