There wasnt an opportunity to say why you didnt buy the BAC.

The survey was all about the new Liberty make up line, asking you to rank your most and least favourite name choices for the new products. It also asked if you would be interested in a premium version of the drop boxes at £30 per month.

I have lost my sense of smell as well, have you tried the smell training? I am going to start again with a FAC as a reward for completing it. I can slightly smell perfumes, couldn’t tell you what’s in them but can just about tell I like the scent. I can’t tell if I am burning rice on the cooker!!

You could try smell training as well. I’d suggest choosing 4–6 strong and easily recognizable scents, for example coffee, garlic, cloves, honey, lemon, or vanilla.
Smell each one gently for around 10–20 seconds and try to focus on remembering what that scent should normally smell like. You can do this twice a day and keep it up consistently for a few months.
I’d probably stick with the same scents for a while, as it may make it easier to notice any small changes or improvements over time.

I need to go through my fragrances again as I’ve still got a box of gift sets I bought last year from Escentual.

I wore the Phlur vanilla skin again yesterday for work and I kept getting a whiff of it throughout the day, it was lovely, it was like every time I thought “is it home time yet?” I could smell it and it really lifted my mood 😊

Hi there - apologies for jumping in but looking for some advice. I’m hearing that the Liberty calendar can be a bit pot luck if you like the stuff or not, but I was thinking about it being a Xmas gift for my wife this year. She is a spa therapist so likes nice skin stuff etc, but I don’t want to blow the budget on something that might be a thing a person needs to pick themselves. Suppose what I’m asking is, is it a good gift? Or would I be better getting two cheaper ones ? Thanks!

I received my JL FAC yesterday, checked it & it's now put away for December.
I'm really tempted by the Selfridges FAC too as I only have a few perfumes 😂 (53 bottles & 70 sample sizes - that's lightweight compared to some MNetters)

@SavageGarden23 you've made me rethink the JL Candle AC as I do love a posh candle too

@TeamChaos what sort of things does your wife like as in what's in the bathroom or on her dressing table/chest of drawers/nightstand?
What brands does she use? Perfumes etc?

I do think as a gift, a luxury BAC is the way to go whether it be a 24 or 12 dayer.

I think some of the products are ones I've had on my list to try for ages. The reviews on the boots website are saying the image is AI at its worst. Does the calendar not look like the picture?

The Liberty advent looks gorgeous. It's the prettiest box presentation. It's very niche perfume heavy though which isn't to everyone's taste - would she like that?

If not then Harrods Beauty Advent is a similar price, only has one perfume and a lot of expensive skincare, plus some nice makeup.

Edit to add - if it were me I'd personally be more excited by one expensive one than two cheaper ones. Only you know your wife though. 😊

2nd edit - Also take a look at the Space NK advent and the Cult Beauty one.

Yes I did, the survey was actually about a new Liberty Beauty brand that they are launching, names, packaging etc and about the Beauty Drop boxes not about the calendar itself.

They cant cope with a sale. Nevermind a FAC launch.

@TeamChaos - I wouldn’t recommend Liberty’s calendar this year as there have been lots of problems with short/dated and/or faulty products and the perfumes are a) numerous and b) extremely niche, (code for mostly pretty revolting, imo 😹)

I think this year’s best all-rounder luxury a/c is Harrods beauty calendar, but SpaceNK, Sephora Favourites and Cult Beauty are also strong contenders.

You could watch some YouTube unboxing videos to get a feel for what each one is like.

What I don’t understand is how the buyer got so many freebies. If I had gone into Dior and bought the a/c I would have been lucky if I had got a couple of 2ml perfume samples!

That one is from last year. I remember it. They are pretty much the same each year though.

I'm fairly sure if you spent that on an advent they would chuck in some freebies. Sadly we'll never find out. 😂

@TeamChaos I agree with others that Liberty is a lovely calendar, and I’d be delighted to receive it as a gift!
I think given this year’s issues with Liberty calendar, Harrods is a safer choice and I’m sure would be equally loved (this is the one I have purchased this year, and last year).
And definitely get one luxury calendar rather than two cheaper ones
