As promised, here is the new thread.

Yes, I definitely got an email chucking me out of kindred last year.

At the same time, to add insult to injury jury, they took the opportunity to tell me I could buy a delivery passHmm

CakeAndJazz · 25/07/2026 12:42

I’m also up for renewal @IlovePond @faustina but highly doubting I will be as I’ve spent significantly less this year.

@RockaLock is it just because you spent less (if you don’t mind me asking)? Just wondering what changed for them to remove you.

IlovePond · 25/07/2026 13:14

@RockaLock - that is an invitation I would be declining!

@CinderellaParker - sorry the Alixes didn't work for you. Yes they do have a dropped crotch, but if you get the sizing right it shouldn't be too dropped. Maybe try some in a smaller size (but only if you can return)

RockaLock · 25/07/2026 13:50

Grin Yes, unsurprisingly, I didn’t take them up on the delivery pass!

I think I spent maybe slightly less than the year before.

But tbh I was surprised to be given kindred in the first place, as I’d only really started shopping at toast the year before, I think, and had only bought perhaps 6-10 items.

Still stung to have it taken away though!

triggers34 · 25/07/2026 14:25

Obviously I’d love an invitation to Kindred but I’ve already bought a post pass and I doubt they’d refund me . Am I right in thinking kindred gets even earlier access to the sale . I got 1 day early access but the popular things had already gone .

@CinderellaParker you mentioned beyond nine ,have you heard of muthahood . I can’t vouch for their jeans but I did buy a dress via Vinted which is lovely .
I’ve got these in my basket but I’m waiting for a sale !

IlovePond · 25/07/2026 15:17

That’s true @triggers34 - early sale access plus invites to Kindred only in-person events, (although the latter have been disappointingly thin on the ground recently).

Plus an occasional GWP - these used to be a) good and b) twice a year, but have fallen off in both quality, (imo), and frequency recently.

Plus the Xmas card and free postage.

I wil be very upset if/when I am ceremoniously removed 😿

Those are lovely - thanks for the tip! And a quick search for the Peggy on their site has shown me so many lovely colour options! And made in the UK which is good because I do like the ethos Community Clothing but not so much the clothes...

I think you're right. I'll be in Edinburgh next week so I might brave the terrifying staff in the Toast shop and have a trying on session.

ScallopShellWalk · 25/07/2026 16:56

@mizu I agree wide linen trousers are great in the heat. I wore mine today and it’ll be hard not to want to wear them all the time. Big success and I love the colour which I wasn’t sure about.

@triggers34 I had a post pass just before I received kindred and I asked if they’d consider refunding me but they said as I had already used it that it wouldn’t be refunded.

@CinderellaParkerI love the staff in the Edinburgh Toast shop. They are very helpful and have lovely comments about the clothes. There is also a permanent circle reworn rail if you have any little swap cards. Did you have a problem with Edinburgh staff or just that some toast staff have a reputation?

IlovePond · 25/07/2026 17:00

I wish I had asked for my post pass to be refunded when I got made kindred only a few days later and had used it, but didn’t want to upset Toast and risk getting struck off the next year 🙀

Edited

I've been in a few times and it was nothing specific, just a feeling that I wasn't especially welcome in there. But it's been a while and the staff there now might be friendlier.

IlovePond · 25/07/2026 17:35

@CinderellaParker - unfortunately, my experience of some Toast staff in some of their shops is that they can be quite stand-offish/unwelcoming.

The staff in the York and Harrogate shops are widely regarded as the ‘friendliest’ judging from feedback on here, (and on my own experience of visiting).

There are also some lovely staff at Kilver Court and I do have to give a special shout out to the delightful staff at Llandeilo.

I am also in Edinburgh but the week after next transporting DD1 back up to uni. Only a 6.5 hour drive! I’m staying up there a few days and I will definitely be visiting the TOAST shop. If I remember from the last time I was up there, they were very nice. I do have a swap card so it would be a bonus to find something nice on the swap rail.

ScottishMouse · 25/07/2026 19:36

Edinburgh is my local store and I think the staff are really lovely there.

Bimblesalong · 25/07/2026 19:38

Have a good visit - there was a lovely lady downstairs doing mending when I visited the Edinburgh store. I’m hoping to get a trip to one of the stores in later this summer - either Oxford or one of the London ones - easiest to get to on the train from mum’s.

My summer purchases have been spot on for the heat in the Côte d’Azur. I needed linen shorts though, for some super hot days and tried to get some on my return. They’re sold out everywhere. I had a brainwave and now have a great couple of m and s cotton pyjama shorts for the next super hot holiday. I’ll take a couple of scarves to cover up if I’m popping into any churches abroad.

faustina · 25/07/2026 19:43

@Bimblesalong look in the Cos sale for linen shorts. I wore nothing but when I was there last summer and they were perfect. They also had some great poplin ones which I bought (two identical as they were so nice). They're practically all I've worn during our heatwaves this summer too!

Countmeout · 26/07/2026 09:33

Poking round the website I noticed there’s a live next week with new autumn stuff. Not holding my breath for something ‘must have’ but who knows. The picture shows quite a nice skirt. But probably spendy.

Bimblesalong · 26/07/2026 11:53

Thanks @faustina

I’ve also had a poke around the website and can’t find a few items - the totem dress and shirt aren’t showing for me, neither is the seersucker blue dress (I wanted to check my review was up). What’s occurring?

Countmeout · 26/07/2026 12:10

Possibly sold out @Bimblesalong ?

Bimblesalong · 26/07/2026 17:15

Thanks @Countmeout I think I’m good with my two bargain pyjama shorts - it seems there’s been a huge run on linen shorts with the heatwaves everywhere!

ToastCosILoveIt · 26/07/2026 18:12

I was in town today and popped into the Dering Street branch specifically to look at the denim pull on cropped trousers as I know there has been discussion about them on here. It’s an odd store, not a lot of stock in it but a couple of rows of men’s stuff (which is a good thing).

So, the denim pull ons: I tried on the 10 and the 12, website recommends a 12 for me. Both fitted but the 10s (obviously) were a bit snug. I don’t think there was much of a difference in violume between the two sizes. They are definitely very full, the inverted pleats to the front do create volume. I am 5ft 5 and they graze the ankle - cropped, but barely so. They are a similar length to how they look on Gwen on the website, and probably the fifth web photo most accurately represents their length, colour and fullness. I know I will get lots of wear out of them, they are completely me so of course they came home with me. There’s a bit of a sense of a skirt from the front when standing still. They are very wide but again, I love that, but for some I think they might feel clown like.

What surprised me was a pair of jeans i had not paid much attention to on the website, the twisted seam cotton linen denim trousers. They looked fab on the hanger, albeit very wide so I tried the 10 and the 12. Again, both fitted but I preferred the 12, roomy on the waist but I can see myself tucking thinks in. The colour of the denim is difficult to describe, just lovely, and a great cut, flattering with the flat front. I don’t think one of the models on the website does these any favours. They aren’t as cropped on me as they are on her but she is 5ft 9 and wearing an 8 and I am 5ft 5 and wearing a 12. They style is much more true to life on the third and fourth (including the video) photos when Gwen is wearing them. I just couldn’t resist them, they serve a very different purpose to the cropped trousers and a different shade of denim too.

I also tried on the cotton denim placket detail top, I really loved this and it looked great with the cropped pull ons but I felt spent up so resisted. I am sure I will buy it at some point.

Hope those reviews help someone 😉, I also bought this Cos top which I had been eyeing up for ages but had been sold out on the web for a while. I already have it in pink and really love it. I think it will look good with my toast denim!

Thanks for the review @ToastCosILoveIt - now I want those pull on jeans, even though I know they wouldn’t suit me with my short legs😿

I like the top in the pic too - Gwen makes everything she wears look effortlessly cool and stylish!

ScottishMouse · 26/07/2026 18:50

I tried the denim top too @ToastCosILoveIt I really liked it but sadly was between sizes (this almost always happens for me with Toast tops).
I have banished the denim crops from my mind as they do not work for me, and I picked up a pair of lightweight denim look linen extra wide leg trousers when away this week. They are by Pas de Calais, a brand I love.
Intrigued by the sleeveless knit shown in the photo advertising next week’s live. I’d love if it was the same wool cashmere tank they did last season and it also came in charcoal. I would snap that up, as I have worn my stone one loads.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 26/07/2026 19:34

I bought the twisted seam denim trousers a month ago @ToastCosILoveIt I think the flat waist is really flattering. Unfortunately it’s been so hot here I haven’t had a chance to wear them but I can see them being really useful through most of the year.
