@ScottishMouse
you asked for photos . For reference I’m 5ft 2 size 14 in non toast and these are a medium . Ive Decided to return these , the pleats accentuate my tummy . So I’m after culottes with a simpler fit , hoping the sale ones arriving tomorrow will work .

Thanks @triggers34 - I like your grey checked shirt!

@IlovePondthank you - thrifted man’s shirt -50p ! One of my favourites

ScottishMouse · 19/07/2026 10:20

Thanks so much @triggers34 For what it’s worth, I really like them on you. Which is interesting because we are the same height and about the same size, and I thought they were too long on me and also did not like how the pleats made my mid section look even bigger than it is. I can’t see the same on you. Isn’t it in the resting how we view our own bodies so differently to others’?

CakeAndJazz · 19/07/2026 10:46

Thanks @IlovePond I love that bandana too. I called this morning and they don’t sell any of the sale stuff over the phone. They also checked for your bandana and the scarf at the outlet section, but no luck. Anyway will keep keeping an eye out on resale sites.

OftenOrange · 19/07/2026 10:49

Thanks for the thread @IlovePond , and for the Live link @ScallopShellWalk
Jenny Garcia is always brilliant on the Lives , she manages to combine looking good with being totally natural and yet informative .
I love the poplin jumpsuit too , but I’ve two good Toast jumpsuits needing wearing and it’s prompted me to put the half placket one on today now we’re into the cooler temperatures.
I’m tempted to try dyeing a workwear dress in beige denim from a couple of years ago, it’s a really draining colour on me .

OftenOrange · 19/07/2026 10:53

@triggers34 I like those culottes on you too, especially with the tucked white top.
The stitched down pleats are great, not bulky at all . I just think the long top doesn’t work as well because it hides the detail.

IlovePond · 19/07/2026 10:53

That’s a shame @CakeAndJazz - I hope you can get one soon 🤞

@ScottishMouse @triggers34
i think its worth seeing a personal stylist regarding proportions which is what I did

I should add that none of the instagrammers are perfect , they just wear stuff that suits them and dont forget they have probably hired hairdressers and make up artists, plus professional lighting to get that just tumbled out of bed look
It isnt real
I do really like JG for the lives
Her lives are giving Nikki , relaxed, realistic and informative Smile

ScottishMouse · 19/07/2026 14:18

I saw a personal stylist once @Gelsomino when I changed job and had no clue what to wear. It turns out I had way more of a clue what suited me than she did. I only did it because a pal was doing it too and wanted company, but it was such a terrible experience (although we had a drink and a giggle about it later). It was like she had read some rule book about shapes, proportions, colours etc and would not deviate from it. I wanted to run screaming from the place but had to smile and nod and then roll my eyes in private. I bought nothing she suggested, neither did my pal. It seemed like such an old fashioned approach to dressing even though she was younger than me, and it made me realise that I have a very good sense of what suits me, what works together and how to put things together in interesting ways. It’s just not always that easy to find the right pieces. But of course I am not saying that all personal stylists are like this, and I’m sure like you, many have very positive experiences.

I wish they’d post the proper sizing on the Live. It just says Jenny is a 8/S but doesn’t give any individual sizes.

Anyway. I have the Baya stripe along with 3 other Bayas now! I size up to a 14 in them as I don’t find them particularly generous. I really like the shape and especially the fact that it doesn’t need to be tucked in.

triggers34 · 20/07/2026 16:02

Thank-you for the compliments . I received the sale culottes today sadly they are too snug round my middle , I really liked them though so if anyone else fancies a try they’re a 14 .
I’m definitely returning the above crop too , but I’ll rebuy them if they go in the sale!

I remembered a stashed away Vinted purchase -Toast wool culottes that I forgot I had so those will be perfect once the weather turns .

faustina · 20/07/2026 17:43

I'm glad someone else forgets about Vinted buys. I found a khaki alda tee in my wardrobe the other day which I had totally forgotten about. Turns out I bought it on Vinted in 2025 and it's really lovely. I'll have to make sure I wear it now!

Countmeout · 21/07/2026 08:46

I was disappointed in the live (not live). I miss seeing the clothes on different bodies as it used to be , using people who worked in the stores as models. Jenny is possibly an S in most things but she is a very tall S. I’d like to see sizes on shorter people too. And at the end of the day she is a paid influencer - not a particularly Toast person.

BigFrau · 21/07/2026 17:44

I just wanted to comment on my experience with Harper's try before you buy service because I expressed my nervousness about using it on the previous thread.

TL;DR: No problems at all! 😄

Ordered 5 items from Toast on 8 July
Order delivered 11 July
TBYB period started 12 July (until 16 July)
Returned 2 items on 15 July
Cost of items charged accurately on 16 July

I was worried about getting something wrong and being charged hundreds of pounds but it was fine. I would definitely use it again.

I was intending to buy 2 of the items but ended up buying 3 once they arrived, so I think it's a clever move on their part - you order more because you don't have to stump up £££ up front and then you end up keeping more!

One of the return options is free pick-up from home which I didn't realise (was planning on going to the PO anyway but the collection service was more convenient on that day). That all went smoothly too.

I hope this helps someone if they're unsure about using the service.
Oh, just to note: I live in an urban area.

CandidCrow · 21/07/2026 19:18

I saw some posts about the wide leg denim trousers that were in the sale, I got them in a size 18 and I love them. As another poster said, they look so cool. You can see in the pics how wide they are. Also a lot of my wardrobe is like this, I so often wear different shades of blue together 💙

Triggers34, I ordered the sale Japanese denim culottes in my usual size, a 12. while they fitted, I felt the waist was snug and wouldn't have been very forgiving on those days when menopause swelled the middle or on long and indulgent days. I returned them and ordered a 14 but expected they might look to big and baggy below the waist. They didn't and they were a much better look so I have kept them.

I too am eyeing up the denim culottes, they are different to the sale ones and they really tick a box in what I like to wear.

triggers34 · 21/07/2026 22:48

@ToastCosILoveItthats made me feel better , I might ask if they’ve got any 16s . I’ll need to wait for my refund though.

TosstTastic · 21/07/2026 22:53

Looks like Seasalt are doing a replic Toast Carnon Jacket at £79.95

I bought the Birch Gingham Cotton Jacket | Burnt Umber at £120 July 2025.

Their nasturtium print is also a little bit similar to the Botanic print two years ago.

@CandidCrow love them! And I love that shirt too.

faustina · 22/07/2026 14:36

That's a nice jacket @TosstTastic - and they seem to have other versions too in linen and cotton.

My sap green Toast jacket finally arrived in the right size and it's perfect - so relieved!

The other jacket I bought this year from Uniqlo which I've worn very very often is in the sale and down to £12. I can really recommend it!
