Hello Toasties.

I wonder if anyone can help - especially in view of the comments re those jackets at Uniqlo and Seasalt...

I have a pair of Gabi trousers in a greyish-navyish shade (wish I could remember) but I'd love to find some in more interesting colours - I'm a summer so need to steer away from the blacks, greys and sludgy shades that Toast love.

Can anyone point me to other places selling trousers like the Gabi please? I quite like the Beyond Nine trousers but they seem just too voluminous! The Gabi is such a good cut for me - just barrel-ish enough and the elastic in the waist is hand and I like the cropped length.

Any suggestions would be appreciated x

@faustina SO glad the sap jacket worked out finally! I’ve found mine to be unspectacular but also very useful. The fabric is lovely.

@Saurus72 - thank you - it's a huge relief to stop hunting, and unspectacular but also very useful is just what I was after.. I'll have to try to wear it quick before the next heatwave!

@CinderellaParker - I'm not sure what suits summer people but they did a dusky pink pair of gabis a couple of seasons ago. Maybe that would work for you. Also I can't say I've tried any yet, but I like the look of bubble trousers from Sahara and you could perhaps have a look at Oska to see if they have something? Hope you find the right colours!

Reworn drop this morning.

@faustina Thank you. For a summer (soft, cool-toned colours) Sahara is so useful but most of their trousers are linen and although I have several pairs I’m really hunting for winter trousers that aren’t denim. Will keep looking…

I did get an email from Toast about the Reworn drop and have snapped up a pair of midnight blue Alix trousers. I’ve not bought from Reworn before - is it normally smooth sailing?

The reworn drop was yesterday about 5pm. I maybe should have said. I’ll say next time. I got some short sleeved pjs, I’ve been looking all week for something like this but didn’t want to pay full price. Then when I was willing to pay full price I didn’t have enough time, I’m off to London today. I’ll check out a toast shop whilst there.
I also bought a navy cotton skirt that I like and hope I can maybe pair it with the navy buttoned down dress that came in navy or green.
After the sale I wasn’t keen to buy even more but I have noticed before that some sale items end up in reworn shortly after.

@CinderellaParker - Reworn works fine, and unlike buying on a selling site, if it's not, you can return - it's very useful, Hope your Alixes work for you!

Blimey6 you have to be quick on that reworn site - both dresses (2 linen ) had sold before I could pay 😂 oh well don’t really need them . I also noticed a couple of dresses that I already have on there fab prices - red Franca corduroy in a 12 and cashmere cotton graphite .

@CinderellaParker what about Next - their online shops has lots of different brands and free delivery if you choose your nearest Next store .

I caved and ordered an Alda tee. Now I’m wondering if I’m becoming a little too critical, analysing a t-shirt for fit. I just know that, on me, it would look so much better if it was just a little bit longer and the neck was just a tiny bit lower (3/4 of an inch perhaps?)

It’s not helped by the fact that I have a sewing pattern that is very similar so I’m tempted to compare the cut and have a go at making a few Alda inspired tees myself. Just not sure I can motivate myself. I’m more of a ‘spend ages tailoring a pair of trousers’ than a ‘knock a few tee shirts out in an afternoon’ kind of sewer. I’d have preferred this Toast tee to just be perfect for me!

I had the wool Japanese culottes and they didn’t work at all, there was definitely something wrong with the cut. Maybe that’s been sorted out with the denim ones.

I haven’t bought anything from Toast since they ended my Kindred membership in January, and at the risk of sounding a bit ‘big mistake, huge.’ I would have spent a couple of thousand with them by this point in the year.

still very much enjoying my old Toast though, particularly the dresses, and the odd cheeky eBay purchase!

I don’t think the culottes are flattering on taller people , As I’m 5ft 2 they work for me because they fall below my calf , these however were too snug on my waist . My wool culottes came from Vinted they have button fastenings on both sides - odd design but I like them .

What actually is kindred ? I hear it mentioned, I’ve spent so much this year !

Its basically a free post pass with a few extra gifts and events. And a Christmas card.

I’m 5’0” and I love a good pair of culottes.

I went into Cos for the first time and picked up a “red dark” (mocha ish) linen cropped wide legged trousers in the sale. They are very nice. Elasticated waist with a tie and a back pocket. I keep looking for linen trousers to do me in the heat.

When they don’t renew your Kindred do they tell you, or do they silently remove you? Think my renewal is due but I haven’t heard anything. Can you tell in your account?

@ScallopShellWalk there is something to be said about wide leg linen in this weather. Apart from the linen lounge dress i bought from the TOAST sample last week, i have been living in a pair of hand made pea green wide leg, ankle grazing linen trousers that i bought from Vinted for £10.

I was renewed on 3/8 last year. I have spent a small fortune at sample sales this last year and did buy a few things in the Xmas sale. However, I ordered lots and sent everything back this sale so I think it could go either way.

@IlovePond - I think someone said they got an email telling them they weren't kindred anymore

My Reworn Alix trousers arrived - very quick, very impressed - and they're in great condition, no signs of wear and a lovely deep indigo colour.

However they'll have to go back.

I took a chance ordering an XL because that was what their 'what size am I' whatsit told me to but it was wrong. A Large or even a Medium would have been better. I'm wary of ordering more in that style though as they have a very strange cut - is it just becaus they were too big or do they have a dropped crotch? They looked quite odd.
