I do too @ScottishMouse even if it’s just to give as a nice extra present to my sister in law. I still have my tree room spray which I’ll probably give to someone this year.

@IlovePond which enamel plate did you buy/did you already have? I bought the brown speckled one but dithered between that and the splatter one… which is nicer? I was sure I knew but then I somehow forgot my own opinion and am worried I ordered the “wrong” one haha.

I ordered the sheepskin hat (being a hat fiend) mainly to try on rather than to commit. I like it! As with a lot of expensive toast hats though, I wear them in my fantasy life only. One where it snows at Christmas. The hats with best use for me have been the bobble wool hats and the dacha sun hat (black and white mini check) which is gorgeous and I’d recommend if it comes into the sale. Wish blogging was still a thing — I’d love to talk about hats more!

for anyone interested my vinted sales have now covered 3/4 of my coat cost… nearly there!

ScottishMouse · 20/10/2026 20:34

@hicat you made me laugh talking about forgetting your own opinion. This is a real issue for me lately! I have always been a bit indecisive but lately it is almost pathological. It means a lot of ordering/returning/ordering again at a later point/returning again. It’s very annoying.

ScottishMouse · 20/10/2026 20:35

Also, well done on your Vinted sales. I am really keen to buy the new boiled wool
cocoon coat and may need to find some things to sell in order to do so.

hicat · 21/10/2026 07:38

@ScottishMouse ive been very lucky with the sale of some toast dresses. Got great return on them plus lovely buyers thankfully. I like wrapping my toast items in toast packages so the buyer has the feeling of having bought something new from toast :)
and hehe, glad I’m not alone!

I love your idea of re-using the Toast packaging! I give all of my rejects to charity (the ones that are little or not at all worn, worn things go in the bin) but I always wash and iron things carefully and drop them off on hangers. I think buying Toast or other relatively expensive clothes should always be a pleasure, even from the Hospice shop!

hicat · 21/10/2026 12:10

Oo @ThePelican id love to live near the hospice shop you drop your clothes off at, sounds like their customers have some lucky finds! Lovely that the shop can make some money too. The first toast purchases I ever made were a from a charity shop in Islington about 10 years ago :)

IlovePond · 21/10/2026 16:27

@hicat I bought the large cream dinner plate with the brown rim, (the underside of which is quite sharp).

I have the green and white spatter bowl, which was a Kindred gift, and like that pattern.

It doesn’t look as if Toast are going to have a sample sale this October. I am a bit surprised, as they have had one at this time for the last few years.

Of course, this being Toast, they could still announce one at two days’ notice 😹

@hicat great news about your selling success. Maybe I should do similar, I have a couple of TOAST jumpers that are always a maybe for Vinted but then I change my mind as they are lovely.

@IlovePond such a shame, I love them so much. At the last one I bought a hand stitched velvet quilt in pomelo, a beautiful olive green colour, think it was archive not sample and I’ve put it on my bed now the weather had turned and it brings me JOY every time I look at it! And it’s a good weight.

IlovePond · 21/10/2026 18:17

I agree @mizu - I am really disappointed.

I love those quilts and would definitely get one if I saw a bargain. My DSis had one and I was jealous!

@hicat even I don't live near the Hospice shop I donate to! I don't want to meet my neighbours wearing my ex clothes, so I drop them off when I visit my daughter or best friend literally 150 miles away!

Oh yes, I do that with Toast packaging. I sell on Vinted, it's such a great platform.

OftenOrange · 22/10/2026 09:34

I feel very lucky , my order arrived with the Kindred and the sweater stone,
Does anyone use the stone? It feels quite aggressive and leaves the gritty/material behind, I used it effectively on a wool alpaca jumper but I prefer the cashmere comb I think.

The Orla Donegal in dark red is so beautiful I have to keep it, fortunately the Sturlina Danza pumps are too big because I couldn’t have resisted them otherwise, so lovely, but very flat ballet pumps did in my ankle last time round.

Vinted are impossible, I’ve ended up with three accounts , one or two in France and one+here. I can’t access any now and can’t even delete them. No response from customer service . So it’s back to trusty EBay which seems to be so much less these days.

Saurus72 · 22/10/2026 10:00

A few new things have been added to the website - the persimmon neat sweater may have my name on it, and may also try the new black dress. Will be visiting the Cambridge store tomorrow so will report back.

CyanDuck · 22/10/2026 11:24

Would anyone mind posting what the most recent kindred gift was please?

CakeAndJazz · 22/10/2026 12:48

@OftenOrange I’m really in need of some ballet flats/pumps and after the disappointment of the very thin sole of the Hereu ones, I’m wondering if these would work. I’ve not seen them in a store. Are the soles quite sturdy? Would they hold up to some medium/hard wear? Reviews seem quite mixed.

MsDastardley · 22/10/2026 13:44

I like the batik top and skirt, but have nowhere to wear it at moment, so will resist. Quite like the firework dress, but not sure it would suit me.

Only thing I’ve ordered this season is a pair of the barrel cords. I was hoping the would do the alpaca cardigan from last year in another colour but don’t think they will now. The knitwear has been disappointing for me.

Countmeout · 22/10/2026 14:13

Is it just me or are there a number of things with more than an echo of past things, e.g. the smocked sleeved blouse, the dress with the alternate colour on a diagonal, the batik top and skirt had a black version previously?
I would have given the velvet shorts a go had the waist been elastic but the waistband seems fixed with very little possibility of rearranging the folds.

ScottishMouse · 22/10/2026 14:15

The new black & blue dress is beautiful, but I have nowhere to wear such a thing. I also like the navy mohair cardigan, but mohair kind of irritates me (the itch and the hairs that end up in your mouth and eyes….or maybe that’s just me). I absolutely loooooooooove the very pricey dusk donegal cashmere sweater. Despite the price, I am considering it, as I have decided against the cocoon coat given the moth situation in our house, so surely this is a bargain in comparison 🤣 I know Toast have done this kind of blend before, but have never tried it, does anyone have something in this kind of mix and has it lasted well?

I thought the same - the batik top is basically a re-do of my very favorite top, though the "old version" was in black and not navy.
And I believe the blouse with smocked sleeves was also an oldies that was in one of the recent sales.

ShanghaiDiva · 22/10/2026 15:55

Yes, agree. Dh was looking over my shoulder while I was perusing the new items and said - do you not already have that top?

ScottishMouse · 22/10/2026 16:32

I also recognised the batik top & skirt and the smocked sleeve shirt from the past. I remember loving that shirt but the sleeves were too long so I would have had to turn them up and lose the smocking detail. They don’t look any shorter this time sadly.
I don’t mind seeing old pieces reappear though, whether that is new colours or even basically the same pieces again, but I wonder what the rationale behind it is.

ShadowViolet · 22/10/2026 16:54

I like the look of the mohair cotton half sleeve cardigan, but not for that price.

I think Toast have always been a little formulaic and I don't really mean that in a negative way. They're selling a certain look and there's only so far you can take that before you start alienating your loyal customers. Mind you, with all the quality control issues that have been discussed on this thread, may be they don't care THAT much about alienating customers!

ScallopShellWalk · 22/10/2026 19:39

I really like the quilted patch skirt and the red looks gorgeous with it. I’m less keen to choose red these days, although in winter I like the odd occasion and I still have a lovely lambswool red jumper that will fit that purpose. The skirt had me think though, it’s more than I want to pay right now anyway. The lovely velvet shorts are really appealing and the soft wool long skirt would be great to lounge in. Looking again at the skirts I still really like the A line cord skirt in golden amber and sometimes I am drawn to the black denim skirt. After looking at all these I’ve decided to order the A line amber cord skirt. On reworn I sent back a nice artichoke canvas skirt because the stitching in the hem was twisted and uneven and really annoying, sadly. But I would like a nice heavy skirt for winter. I hope the cord one fits the bill. Would like to have gone shopping to Toast in Edinburgh at the weekend but oh my look at the rain forecast!
