@Doritochaser i don’t have the brown Tretorn boots but I do have the black version from a few years ago. They are a little higher on the ankle, but otherwise look pretty much the same. I love them. They are very cosy and good for wet weather/standing on the sidelines of muddy school football pitches/gardening. They run a bit big, I am 5.5 but a 5 was plenty big and has room for thick socks too.

mizu · 16/10/2026 19:58

@Doy I’ve got a ticket for the Notting Hill one, and hoping it’ll be half decent - the ones I’ve been to in the last year or so have been pretty dire and I’ve got a voucher that I’ve had for AGES! I’ll take a couple of things too. I would go too if I were you, I’m sure you’ll be welcome.

hicat · 16/10/2026 20:57

Same with me and my dispatch email @ScottishMouse ! Hoping it’s just not mentioned but will show up as I’d like the gift!

Doritochaser · 16/10/2026 21:22

@ScottishMouse oh great! And you answered what was to be my next question about sizing- a 6 should be good for me then :)

Doy · 16/10/2026 21:34

Thanks @mizu- the last Notting Hill one I went to (with a ticket) a month or so ago was the best one for a long time so fingers crossed we both do well

IlovePond · 17/10/2026 00:42

@Doy - Toast had made a big thing about the Shoreditch event being ‘invitation only’ according to my DSis, which it why it wasn’t on the website. She had to wrangle me a ticket at the last minute. I think it was because there had been lots of complaints about the previous one(s), so they cancelled the next two or three Circle events and everyone who had signed themselves up to those got an invite to Shoreditch instead.

When I went to the previous Shoreditch event - which was deserted - the staff made a huge thing about checking names against the list and were a bit ‘funny’ about my name as they didn’t think it ‘matched’ me, (it’s unusual), and I had to insist it was me on the list. (They also checked once before - ages ago - at Richmond and the staff there almost refused one woman entry because she didn’t have a ticket.)

Of course, last night, after all that, staff just let everyone in who turned up 🤷‍♀️

Ooh that’s annoying @IlovePond- I did moan to the (lovely) staff but not to customer services … perhaps I should have done. I’ve only been asked for my ticket once and that was at my first one at Richmond which was fab. The people at Notting Hill have said several times to me to come without a ticket so I think I will risk it.

IlovePond · 17/10/2026 08:58

I wonder if we were at the same Richmond event @Doy? The Circles there used to be so good!

I’m sure just going to the Notting Hill one wil be fine. I think DSis is signed up to it. I hope it’s well attended, as these events can be so much fun! (I also prefer them to be at the weekend and in the morning!)

I think it was the last one they’ve done at Richmond @IlovePond. I’m never sure when to turn up at the Sunday ones - 11-4 is a long old time to be hanging around for something decent … maybe I’ll just spend the whole day in Notting Hill (no hardship!)

IlovePond · 17/10/2026 09:14

I can’t believe I have never been to the NH shop @Doy - I fancy going on Sunday as I still have a yellow ticket in hand, (most of what was available on Thursday seemed to be green), but am doing something else.

I hope it’s a good one 🤞please report back!

I am on holiday at the moment. I’ve bought a Massimo Dutti jumper of the same composition as Toast’s neat sweater 90%wool and 10% cashmere for the grand sum once converted of £43. Admittedly it’s not as soft but is heavier weight.
@ScallopShellWalk my kindred gift is in my first parcel of a reworn dip dye dress which I had been looking on eBay etc for. The second parcel , nightie and candle holder has not one. So just one this time. I think there was a muddle at the time of the notebooks so ended up with more than 1.
I won’t be home until next week to open the parcels. Will report back . I think the nightie is possibly too big.

IlovePond · 17/10/2026 10:52

That’s a great bargain @Countmeout

I wonder if Toast were just chucking in more of those notebooks in orders last Kindred time, as they were such low value items. I don’t even know where I put mine, (probably with the multiple clown cards as it held about the same interest for me as those!)

I have never known them to send other Kindred gifts out more than once no matter how many orders are made.

I’m looking forward to getting mine - it’s a good one!

@Countmeout i so looove buying something when I’m on holiday. It has me recall the trip when I put it on back home.
That was a bargain for that shop! I bought a belt in there once in Spain and it cost more than that! It was to hold up a pair of Brora trousers that I bought at the airport on the way out to my holidays. The belt was needed nearer the end of the trip. I forget I usually lose some weight on walking holidays. Sadly I usually put most of it back on.
@IlovePond
I ended up with 3 or 4 notebooks but I liked them and I gifted one to a friend. I was a bit concerned that they weren’t going to stop sending them. I wouldn’t say no to more than one of this gift, it looks nice. I do wonder about whether it’ll be for me or my son. Time will tell, I think a couple of parcels are due today. I’m quite looking forward to them.
I almost bought an additional item, navy linen jumpsuit but I thought it’s nice not to get everything you like. Thankfully it’s been sold now. Someone else can enjoy it, or it may even come back. I thought it could be so comfy but my imaginings never match reality. It could even be cold, overly worn or too long. Ah but I can dream of comfy afternoons.

IlovePond · 17/10/2026 11:42

Ooh - that’s a thought - could the gift be for men??? I really hope not, it would be totally wasted on DH or sons!

AmethystMoonShine · 17/10/2026 12:07

@IlovePond i think you’ll be okay with the gift. I’m ‘using’ mine today. Lovely colour.

ScottishMouse · 17/10/2026 12:14

Slightly odd and non-Toast related question, but someone may know something.
I have a pair of cotton trousers from sideline that I love everything about except the colour. I bought them earlier this year and they are an ecru colour but rather yellow-ish (think something toast might call buttermilk) rather than straight ecru. Without washing them at 100 degrees or bleaching them, is there any way to lighten them a bit? I have only washed once at 30 and no discernible shift in the colour. I have found in the past some off white fabrics tend to become whiter over time. Does this just require many washes, or is it u likely to change? Thanks!

ScallopShellWalk · 17/10/2026 12:28

My nice green tights and kindred gift arrived and reworn boots. The cheaney black boots have def been on before, prob inside only and a slight mark, no original box and they are so slightly used they look like new. Regardless I’m good with them at the price I got them for, £85?. I am using my kindred gift today and I’m going to wear my boots. Woohoo. Got my wide ecru jeans on and a toast belt as they are actually a bit big. A nice dark green cashmere jumper non toast and I’m looking forward to a cold stroll in the nearby town.

ScallopShellWalk · 17/10/2026 12:31

@ScottishMouse maybe a dye? I have in my youth bleached jeans and it always was a yellow colour not white.

ScottishMouse · 17/10/2026 13:08

@ScallopShellWalk thanks, my backup plan is to dye them navy or dark grey but I’m going to risk a slightly hotter wash first to see if I can lighten them any.

triggers34 · 17/10/2026 13:32

I ordered the skirt I like plus some socks . They arrived this morning, alas no kindred
gift . I’m a bit disappointed to be honest .
The skirt is definitely going back , I don’t even know if I’ll bother with it in the sale . It needs a good iron then I’ll try and style it . It’s the slate grey boxpleat .

Countmeout · 17/10/2026 14:11

@ScottishMouse have you tried a strong bio powder?

faustina · 17/10/2026 14:24

@ScottishMouse - the only way I've lightened something without bleach has been drying on a line in strong hot sunshine, but even then you'd probably still have just a lighter yellowish tone

@triggers34 - that's very unfair - if you're definitely kindred then you should tell customer service they forgot the gift

@ScallopShellWalk - what a lucky break with the boots!

mizu · 17/10/2026 14:28

@ScallopShellWalk I liked your comment- thankfully it’s sold now - 🙂 I feel like that if I'm thinking about something on reworn or even Vinted. It’s sold, now I can stop thinking about it, and move on!

ScottishMouse · 17/10/2026 14:32

No kindred gift for me either @triggers34 I and ponder if it is because I used the harper service, did you use that for your order?
What is it with Toast and tiny hats? I ordered 3 hats to try and only one will fit on my head, and I don’t have a particularly large head. This happened with sun hats in the summer too. The one that fits doesn’t suit me, so all going back. I also ordered the m in the wrap cardi to make sure about size but I think the L is better (apart from the sleeves being too long). I ordered the truffle and navy bandanas as the orange was disappointing to me, and the truffle doesn’t really suit me weirdly, the navy might stay but it’s a little boring.
Thanks for the thoughts on lightening/bleaching. I usually use surcare washing powder as there are a lot of skin sensitivities in this house, but maybe it’s worth trying something stronger, thanks for that @Countmeout

triggers34 · 17/10/2026 15:15

@ScottishMouseno not with the harper service . I’ve spoken to someone on their instagram page - I used to think I was speaking to a bot but it must be a real person as they left to discuss with their supervisor . They have no record of me attached to my email being a kindred member and asked for a photo of the invitation which of course I’ve long since binned . Any way the supervisor asked for me to email someone else which I’ve done. I’m most keen to get early access to the sale tbh , I’ll update once I get a reply .
