@Safarisagoody , 'me + em, Massimo Dutti, max Mara is and others like them' don't make size 22 dresses and are not in the same price range.

They have an eBay shop as well. I've bought a number of brand new dresses for less than £30 including delivery.

Edited

Yes use that from time to time,,reasonable pricing as well from SS

OB seemed to be mainly polyester when I looked

BridgetJonesV2 · Yesterday 16:01

I've got loads of Seasalt dresses but if you've got a generous bust OP, go up a size. I'm a size 18 and am fine with their trousers/skirts and tunics in that size but need a 20 if not a 22 in most of their dresses. They're not generously cut in the bust at all.

Do look at their Ebay outlet too, I've got a lot of stuff from there.

Oh, for goodness sake!!!!

My 25 year old daughter owns a Seasalt skirt.

You can do one with your sneery ageism 😡

Perhaps, instead of being so superior and negative with your fashion opinion you could be positive and give some constructive suggestions?

I'm in Cornwall now. I was in Seasalt this morning because I forgot to pack a sunhat and they have a really nice one. I also bought the Charlotte in this colour because it's a lovely cool cotton and was in the sale.

I'm a pensioner. The last thing I bought was a Comme des Garcons striped cotton skirt and jacket. Comme des Garcons must be for pensioners too.

Comme des Garcons Is aimed at teenagers and students. Seasalt is not aimed at pensioners, I don’t think any one said that. Not many brands aim at retirement wear, cotswalds collection is a key one, and to be honest fairly similar to seasalt.

PhaedraTwo · Yesterday 17:12

Safarisagoody · Yesterday 15:34

It’s not stylish, it is simply not current, on trend, stylish, and tends to very dated styles. It is aimed at 40 plus yes, but certainly not like me + em, Massimo Dutti, max Mara is and others like them, who target the same age range,

These brands tend to a much fresher, stylish, current modern look. The modern, stylish, current, fresher look.

seasalt simply is not in this category, it’s for the woman who wants to blend in, not stand out, and is certainly not aiming to be stylish and current. Any woman aiming for this will be heading to the likes of Dutti, max Mara, Reiss, me and em etc,

I have a cotton poplin shirt dress from Max Mara. The Charlotte unlike the Max Mara has better bust steaming. I like Max Mara a lot but I'm not going to wear a £600 dress and get sunscreen and dropped ice-cream on it. The Seasalt dress is pretty, comfortable and ideal for holidays.

Reiss gets mentioned a lot on here. I don't think I've ever seen anything interesting on their site.

StationJack · Yesterday 17:14

I think I'd describe Seasalt as being aimed at people who want smart casual everyday clothes that will ideally last a few years.

I don't get the love for Massimo Dutti or Reiss but do for MaxMara and Comme des Garcons.

suburburban · Yesterday 17:15

Yes I wouldn’t want to pay that much for a dress that I would wear at work or on holiday

I think you don't know what you're talking about if you think Comme des Garcons is aimed at students. This is the jacket and skirt.

Comme des Garcons

I guess Comme des Garcons is aimed at people who like it and can afford it.

Agree re Massimo Dutti. I've never seen anything there I want either. Neither they nor Reiss are in the same ballpark as Max Mara

mateysmum · Yesterday 17:18

@Safarisagoody The brands you mention do some nice stuff, but generally are in a completely different price bracket - at least twice and maybe four times the price of Seasalt. I could afford that but wouldn't because I don't need to. I need clothes that suit my lifestyle, that are comfortable and practical. If I were working in a city or going out to parties etc, then maybe.
But most of all, I'm 5'1" and I really need petite sizing, otherwise not just the length but all the proportions are wrong. That's why I first started buying from SeaSalt. Even M&S now seem to only cater for people of at least 5' 6". Their skirts and dresses are round my ankles.

Seasalt is not aimed at pensioners, I don’t think any one said that. They did and at least one poster agreed

familyicons · Today 08:20

Agreed that seasalt in my opinion is for pensioners

😂😂😂😂 for those who don't like ironing and like that dirty worn out look

RampantIvy · Yesterday 11:37

I agree you tend not to see young women in Seasalt very often, but classing it for pensioners only is a bit rich and unnecessarily unpleasant.

Where did I say pensioners? I described the people I see in there. Don't put words and your own thoughts into my post or maybe you meant the poster who used the word pensioners before me? I don't know why you quoted me.

Sorry I just noticed someone had bought this. I read threads in reverse.

It's got no bust darts, so it's not going to work if you take a large cup size.

It has bus darts at the side and darts from the waist.

I am a 32G/34FF and it fits fine. Not generous, but perfectly acceptable.

In the USA they have a style called Coastal Grandmother style - a bit like SS but without so many of the prints. How dare they use the word Grandmother 😂😂😂

What do you think of the Seasalt Charlotte dress in Inky Botanical Chalk?
blueshoes · Yesterday 18:02

Seasalt sent me a catalogue. The model looked like she was in her 70s. She looked nice but I think that says it all.

Of the 4 prints, the one which OP chose is the best. The rest look like housecoats, sorry.

However, I got a really lovely wool jacket from Seasalt which was reasonably priced, so they do have gems.

Daftypants · Yesterday 18:15

It’s lovely , I sometimes have issues with fit with some Seasalt styles because I have a very short torso so waist sits wrong .
But what I do have from there I really like the quality.
If I were you I’d get it to try , I’ve had no issues with returns

BillieWiper · Yesterday 19:31

It is nice and quite a flattering shape. I can't see it looking ridiculous on a large size. As long as it fits well i'd say go for it!

Sorry, I was agreeing that you don't usually see young people in Seasalt, but my pensioner comment was in relation to the post you were replying to, which was unpleasant and ageist.
