I have a cotton poplin shirt dress from Max Mara. The Charlotte unlike the Max Mara has better bust steaming. I like Max Mara a lot but I'm not going to wear a £600 dress and get sunscreen and dropped ice-cream on it. The Seasalt dress is pretty, comfortable and ideal for holidays.

Reiss gets mentioned a lot on here. I don't think I've ever seen anything interesting on their site.

I don’t think anyone suggested you should. The discussion was on was seasalt stylish.

yes Reiss me and em etc are at a higher price point, seasalt is obviously lower cost, lower quality and I’m sorry less current designs.

I think you don't know what you're talking about if you think Comme des Garcons is aimed at students. This is the jacket and skirt.

Comme des Garcons

I guess Comme des Garcons is aimed at people who like it and can afford it.

I’m not suggesting that’s their demographic, comme des garçons says it’s their target demographic, teens to mid twenties, if you disagree tell them they are wrong not me.

@Safarisagoody , did you actually read the OP?

Yup. Pensioners.

this is a pile of shit

It has bus darts at the side and darts from the waist.

I could see waist darts but no bust darts.

@RampantIvy My DDs who are older than yours would not be seen dead in Seasalt. I think it’s a lifestyle choice and doesn’t suit everyone’s lifestyle! Certainly not my DDs who are in London! I’m finding little I like these days at Seasalt. Its patterns have become very predictable but their coats still keep out the rain. I am a pensioner. Most people I know who wear Seasalt are older but I do see mums and DDs in their shops.

I looked at your dress and then started browsing and bought a beautiful green jersey dress. The only you picked is lovely and so is mine.

Olderbutt · Yesterday 21:07

It's fabulous, I couldn't wear it as a size 18 though as I'm too short. I think if you're 5'5" or taller it would be great

I bought it today because I was in the shop looking for a hat and it looked like a perfect summer holiday dress. It has bust darts.

You keep posting about what your daughters would or wouldn't wear. I'm not sure why you think anyone should care. They're not the arbiters of taste.

Yes, clearly I answered it earlier, do you know how chat forums work, the conversation moves on, as this one has, read the thread.

Chat GPT Not broadly, though some of its diffusion lines are. The main avant-garde high-fashion label is famously targeted toward independent, conceptual adults. However, the accessible CDG Play streetwear line is extremely popular with teenagers and young adults due to its recognizable heart logo.

I think you're confused about the different ranges. I bought mine in Envoy of Belfast, which is emphatically not a shop aimed at teenagers.

Getting back to Seasalt the Charlotte dress felt lovely to wear on a hot Cornwall day.

Thank you. I will bow to your possession of a specimen, as opposed to my trying to examine a photograph.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · Yesterday 22:15

@PhaedraTwo Really? How do you know? You are the self appointed font of all wisdom on just about any fashion thread. At least my DDs are aware of trends and sometimes set them.

Newsflash: DD2 has a degree from LCF. She most certainly does know about fashion but I don’t think we really think Seasalt is cutting edge fashion do we? It’s pretty safe middle of the road clothes aimed at “safe” non risk taking women. DD1 in particular is pretty hot on high quality fashion, but she can afford to be.

I don’t use chat gpt. Nor set any store by it, I go with whay the manufacturer says, and I also have no idea about envoy in Belfast. I am simply stating whay the brand says is their target market, take it up with them.,

RampantIvy · Yesterday 22:22

I don't care about high fashion. I want to wear clothes that fit well and suit me.

I also don't want people to tell me that I am wearing "safe" clothes. That is so patronising.

There are some beautiful products. I could spend a fortune on Seasalt!

I love their coats and own two. They're both brilliant for keeping me dry and the planthunter coat is so cosy and warm in the winter.

It’s perfectly inoffensive, I can’t imagine why it would look ridiculous, it does however look dated and quite frumpy. A bit middle aged mum who has lost her sense of style, a sort of basic dress that’s not very flattering, not on trend and a bit of nothingness.

Good job I'm not a middle aged mum then!

I have no comment on Seasalt.

But when an apparently sentient adult comes onto a Style and Beauty board to tell us that Comme des Garçons is for teenagers and students - I begin to think this forum is done for.

DD, who isn't a snob about being seen dead in a shop for pensioners nicked my Seasalt raincoat last time she was home 😁

RampantIvy · Today 07:35

Why are posters so disparaging and superior about women who aren't interested in cutting edge fashion or who don't have the disposable income to change their wardrobe frequently?

I don't get it. Words like "safe", "inoffensive", "frumpy", "middle of the road" are just so misogynistic, demeaning and pejorative. Why be so unpleasant about other people's clothes choices? Not everyone wants to stand out. It doesn't affect you.

I dislike most of Seasalt's colours and patterns, but I will defend anyone who wants to wear their clothes against any posters who think that wearing their clothes is a crime against fashion.

OvernightBloats · Today 07:40

The dress is ok, not keen on the pattern. The pattern is a too fussy.
