Agreed that seasalt in my opinion is for pensioners

Oh, for goodness sake!!!!

My 25 year old daughter owns a Seasalt skirt.

You can do one with your sneery ageism 😡

Perhaps, instead of being so superior and negative with your fashion opinion you could be positive and give some constructive suggestions?

Lovely

I love Seasalt, functional and timeless for women on f all ages. Not throwaway fashion.I think it would be lovely on size 22 if the fit is right. I follow Laura Adlington on Instagram who is size 22 and I've seen her wear similar cuts and she looks great.

Lorrymum · Yesterday 11:10

It's a beautiful dress. Buy it and enjoy wearing it I have several Seasalt dresses and love them. Well made and wash beautifully.
Sad to see ageism rear its ugly head. Sadly one of the last seemingly, socially acceptable discriminations.

I do believe it has a certain "vibe". They seem to have limited styles and as I mentioned before they have this tendency to have this pouchy bit of fabric at the stomach. I live in an affluent town and you tend to see the same age of people in SS as in White Stuff. It is usually women in their mid 50s- 60s and above.

I agree you tend not to see young women in Seasalt very often, but classing it for pensioners only is a bit rich and unnecessarily unpleasant.

I would have bought that for work when I was a teacher.

Nedward · Yesterday 11:51

Best thing to do is order it online, try it on in the comfort of your own home and make a decision from there. Send it back if you're not happy - easy returns to SeaSalt.
Most of all, do what makes you happy.

RumAndCola · Yesterday 13:06

I find most Seasalt patterns a bit jaunty for my taste but try it on and see how it looks.

Violinist64 · Yesterday 13:19

It's a lovely dress. As has been said upthread, it depends on your shape. If you are pear shaped or hour glass shaped, this will be perfect for you. Please don't put yourself down because you are a large size. Your basic shape will be the same whatever size you are and I think it is even more important to dress in a way that flatters your shape if you are larger. Over the years, larger ladies have been conned into wearing shapeless tents in very dark hiding all our best bits and accentuating all the parts we want to hide. I also think a lot of ladies think fashion is only for people who fit in the accepted "normal" shape and that because they need plus size clothes, they don't "deserve" to be fashionable. I know l felt like this when I was much bigger. Over the years I have lost a lot of weight (and regained some but not all) and realised I have to wear what suits me and develop my own style. I have lost quite a bit more weight in the past few months and definitely feel better in my clothes but I am still basically a pear shape and would be very happy to wear that dress because I know that it would suit me whereas a straight style of dress would be very unflattering on me. It is all about shape rather than size. Go for it and l bet you will have loads of compliments.

TBH, so do I, but I often find the odd gem there.

It’s perfectly inoffensive, I can’t imagine why it would look ridiculous, it does however look dated and quite frumpy. A bit middle aged mum who has lost her sense of style, a sort of basic dress that’s not very flattering, not on trend and a bit of nothingness.

More sneering.

Also, people didparagingly saying that Seasalt is a brand for pensioners - as if they themselves will never reach that age themselves - should remember that people of all ages need to buy clothes and the core demographic that Seasalt aim at is stylish, middle class customers aged 40+, who like quality and buy clothes to last. It's a shrewd move because there are more older people than younger people these days and they are also often the ones who have more money to spend.

Violinist64 · Yesterday 13:32

I'm imagining posters like @familyicons still wearing shorts with their bottom hanging out or those awful scrunch leggings at 80.

I think there must still be people on Style and Beauty who believe that, if they bump into a pensioner wearing the same outfit as they are, then they will instantly turn into an old person.

Toveylove · Yesterday 14:46

Tbh it really doesn’t look good on that model. The red one looks good though.

Seasalt is not a 'stylish' brand IMO.
It has a certain demographic regardless of age.
But on the whole it's older people. Some people love it, others are not so keen. A bit like White Stuff- they are similar. Especially the cotton jersey dresses.
It's mainly the length of dresses that is dated. They are not long enough to be 'midi' but not short enough to be short.

The 'natural fabrics' is a bit of red herring.
There are loads of clothes available in natural fabrics in other brands.
Nobody's Child, Boden, Me&Em, Marks, Oliver Bonas, The White Company, etc etc.

They have an eBay shop as well. I've bought a number of brand new dresses for less than £30 including delivery.

It’s not stylish, it is simply not current, on trend, stylish, and tends to very dated styles. It is aimed at 40 plus yes, but certainly not like me + em, Massimo Dutti, max Mara is and others like them, who target the same age range,

These brands tend to a much fresher, stylish, current modern look. The modern, stylish, current, fresher look.

seasalt simply is not in this category, it’s for the woman who wants to blend in, not stand out, and is certainly not aiming to be stylish and current. Any woman aiming for this will be heading to the likes of Dutti, max Mara, Reiss, me and em etc,

I prefer cotton fabrics at a reasonable price so would stick with SS

are the other brands suggested using these fabrics?
