I'm sorry but I think it's a bit old-fashioned in not a good 'retro'
way.

I think that in larger sizes, smaller patterns look more flattering.
There's a lot of fabric too.

It depends what you want to wear it for.
As an everyday dress it's okay but in general I don't find SS attractive. They appeal to mainly my Mum's age group- mid-late 80s.

Sorry.

Not sure that’s right. My mums that age she’s never bought anything from there she’s usually in jeans and a t shirt. I do though, a few bite here and there.

Ihateknowingthis · 27/06/2026 22:15

Like others have said you need to try it on and see how you feel.

But controversially try and lose some weight!!! Not to help with how you look but to help with your health..... and going forwards. I see so many women these days that are vastly overweight, especially younger ones.

I worry for their future.
We need to take better care of ourselves.

PhaedraTwo · 27/06/2026 22:19

It's a very nice, very wearable, everyday dress.

Squirrelsnut · 27/06/2026 23:00

You won't look ridiculous and it's a nice dress.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/06/2026 23:04

It’s not for me, but if you love it then go for it

Zertan · 27/06/2026 23:30

Seasalt are generally high quality and it's a classic shape of dress.

I don't really like their patterns, personally, but I love their plain linen Carved Wood style dress. Flattering, gently fitted shape and amazingly comfortable in this hot weather. I've collected 4 of them in different colours over the years. Also surprisingly forgiving if you don't iron them.

They vaguely remind me of the dresses my grandma used to wear in photos from the 1950s. A touch retro, but in a good way (Granny was quite stylish and she knew what suited her).

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods · 27/06/2026 23:34

I think you’ll look awesome op 💖

Viviennemary · 27/06/2026 23:46

I dont think that style and print would be flattering. But if you like it then try it on and see what it looks like.

Whataflippincircus · Yesterday 00:01

It’s a really nice dress. Definitely order it.

ThisSillyPoet · Yesterday 00:17

It’s a gorgeous dress, I bought one and the same style but I’m short and a size 16 and I didn’t find it particularly flattering on me and it made me feel frumpy. Try it on, everyone is different it could look great on you but you won’t know unless you try it.

ScrollingLeaves · Yesterday 00:19

You would look lovely.

I love the Charlotte dresses. They’re the only style that really suits me and over the years I seem to have accumulated five of them! From eBay, Vinted and Seasalt itself in the sales. The fabric feels wonderful on, especially in hot humid weather - the thin, light cotton is very cooling and because it’s lined in another layer of very fine cotton (Indian I think), it’s not see through but still not bulky or heavy at all. I have a slight tum and it skims over it without looking bunched up. And the short sleeves are almost elbow length. Every time I’ve worn one I get at least one compliment, honestly it’s my all-time favourite dress in case that’s not clear haha.

MarxistMags · Yesterday 01:27

It's lovely.
It may sound strange but Mountain Warehouse has some great dresses at reasonable prices that look great on.

selffellatingouroborosofhate · Yesterday 01:37

It's got no bust darts, so it's not going to work if you take a large cup size.

BelleEpoque27 · Yesterday 06:51

It's a lovely dress, I'd wear it (and own similar) and I'm a busty size 20. I'm surprised by people saying it wouldn't suit those with a bust or apple shaped, this is exactly the kind of style that suits me and is recommended for us. Open neckline, fitted waist, good sleeve length, all good.

My only concern would be that I find Seasalt dresses are cut small in the bust, and sizing up leaves you with too much fabric elsewhere. But it's worth trying to see if it works for you.

Seasalt do good quality clothes. They're not a young brand, you won't see teenagers in there, but they're clothes that will last and won't be out of fashion next summer.

I think it’s a lovely dress .

MerryUmberHedgehog · Yesterday 07:24

I like a shirt dress. Smart. Buy it!

Cotton? Will need ironing. I wouldn’t want it for that reas…

I am a rarity on mumsnet in that I don't hate ironing 😀

I really like that dress, and if it makes me look and feel good, having to iron it wouldn't be an issue for me.

Peony1985 · Yesterday 07:35

Really surprised by all the lovely dress comments.
I mean if you like it Op get it but I don’t think this dress is worth any angst at all.I don’t think size comes into it ( aside from the button). But my top tip would be to wait for the sale.

Ageist!

I know loads of women who are nowhere near 80 who wear Seasalt.

In fact, I was at an event yesterday and at least 6 of us were wearing Seasalt. Only one of the women was anywhere near 80.

lulubalu · Yesterday 08:17

No one else can tell you the answer, order it and see if YOU like it 💗

ZenNudist · Yesterday 08:19

It's a good dress

familyicons · Yesterday 08:20

Agreed that seasalt in my opinion is for pensioners

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · Yesterday 09:00

Im a short 20, and thought"ooooo, thats a nice dress, might get that"

HesterLeggatt · Yesterday 10:02

It’s pretty but if you are top heavy or hourglass you risk to look a bit matronly of bust.
