It’s so gorgeous:

For the reception I haven’t decided, but possibly a dress from here:

Ho hum - I’ll have to hit the apps. 😄

(Very sorry, I don’t have a question.)

Welcome, @PriscillaQueenoftheKitchen … 😂

It reminded me of this from Insidious... Actually if it came in black it would be great for those who have a flair for the dramatic entrance at funerals.

My thought was - does Grayson Perry shop there? I think people would laugh?

Hideous 😂Is this a goady post to gain reactions? You are definitely succeeding 😂

Maybe this chap could use something like it?

This. It's a bespoke outfit for this guy and he didn't collect or.....it's a valise designed for transporting a garment.

TheSandgroper · 19/05/2026 08:59

It’s Miss Havisham.

Shuffletoesxtreme · 19/05/2026 09:00

Thank you OP for livening up a rainy Tuesday morning.

Lazydomestic · 19/05/2026 09:00

Sweet Jesus - is Uncle Fester the groom?

TheyGrewUp · 19/05/2026 09:00

I have just looked at the daywear and think it's similar to toast. I suspect today's droopy has morphed into dark academia but would welcome a bit of glam.

I wore D&B nearly 40 years ago and it was of the and my time. I wore it for weddings, opera, smart do's. Then we had babies and I spent five years on the floor in stirrup pants and long jerseys and the old D&B was just so dated by the late 90s/early 00s.

Then I morphed into Caroline Charles for smart/occasion stuff and 20/25 years ago there was more of a cross-over. Nowadays I'm obvs much older and shop at: Whistles, M&S, a few RL frocks/coats and bits and bobs as I see them.

PriscillaQueenoftheKitchen · 19/05/2026 09:00

No wonder all the models look so deeply peeved.

<Sighs>

I was hoping to encounter a fellow enthusiast who would recognise the continuum from Droopy & Browns to Cawley Studio. It was not to be …

Fraid not, though I loved some D&B dresses.

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 19/05/2026 09:04

Does her bum look big in that ?

The dress is Florence Nightingale inspired. The shape of an olden day nurse uniform with accents in mosquito nets that adorned hospital beds in WWI..

It also reminds me of the film The Piano.. the severity of the model's face.

wishingonastar101 · 19/05/2026 09:08

It's very Isabella Blow.

Happyjoe · 19/05/2026 09:10

It looks like a white funeral outfit. Am so sorry!

OK, you obviously do think those dresses are flattering & beautiful. They certainly appear to be aimed at the more eccentric type of bride but each to their own if it's your taste.

DroopyDress · 19/05/2026 09:15

It's like one of those dreadful 'that's not my' toddler books but with pattern cutting.
That is my wedding dress, it's sleeves are too big.
That is my D&B top, it's waistcoat points are too long
That is my Cawley top, the fabric is weirdly stiff
That is my wardrobe, the clothes are just right.

Tocsin · 19/05/2026 09:19

Hmm - I think it evokes a very different life attitude to Toast, (which is all Made in China nowadays anyway). Much more zing!

We’re of an era, @TheyGrewUp.I morphed into Jil Sander city life, and then over decades, into Marni, Raey @ Matches and now Margaret Howell, Sofie D’Hoore, Margiela tweed, Studio Nicholson, La Fetiche and odd bits and pieces from all over the place. The city I now live in is scholarly rather than fashion-y, so the Petar Petrov clothes I hanker after would look very out of place. I love the ambience of the local Toast but apart from one men’s coat I haven’t shopped there for a long time.

(Yesterday there was a questionnaire from MH in my inbox. Hilariously I had clothes from at least half of the brands they position themselves alongside.)

Ha ha, I didn't see your post when I wrote reminded me of funeral. Glad not alone!

Cherrytree86 · 19/05/2026 09:23

It’s lovely, Op. wear that one to the wedding and the Jacquard silk-blend midi dress in cream for the reception

TheyGrewUp · 19/05/2026 09:24

@Tocsin I suspect I'm less into clothes than you.

I frock up for smart formal stuff because I have too.

My office channels Mary Beard so.I blend in a semi smart way.

Home is largely gardening, here and abroad.

Meeting friends is pretty casual.
