It’s so gorgeous:

For the reception I haven’t decided, but possibly a dress from here:

Ho hum - I’ll have to hit the apps. 😄

(Very sorry, I don’t have a question.)

Is this the lucky bridegroom?

I'm so sorry, @PhaedraTwo I've only just spotted your post, thank you!

Instant verdict would be for the Hattie jacket, but I'm wondering if that's a little too much in my comfort zone and that maybe I should branch out more while I still can....

I can't believe EleanorMc67 said anything which needs MNHQ to have a look at it!

Maybe it was the kitten-smuggling comment? Anyway, they have now deemed it fit to release ...

Funnily enough, that's what I thought of it too back then!

I moved to Edinburgh in 1987 to study landscape architecture at art college - so my friends were all fashion/jewellery/drawing & painting students. Droopy & Browns (& Laura Ashley etc) was thought of as rather prim & dull - worn by middle-class English girls studying history of art or similar at Edinburgh Uni* ... Meanwhile at the weekend we would dress up & head across to Nico's & The Sub Club in Glasgow - it felt like a truly innovative & stylish city, whereas Edinburgh seemed very conventional by comparison.

I loved & still love both cities, 40 years later - & have grown to appreciate the romantic aesthetic of the D&B label - but it was definitely NOT viewed as cool in the late 80s!

I just came across this article, where she is wearing a gorgeous green D&B dress - but even better, she describes it as having "pockets large enough to smuggle kittens"!! And now I want ALL my clothes to have pockets that will allow me to do just that ... 😸

*Apologies to anyone middle-class & English who studied history of art at Edinburgh Uni!

You see I always loved Laura Ashley and Droopy Brown and embroidered Indian dresses. I moved to Edinburgh 1986/87 and I have a photo of me beside Greyfriars Bobby wearing a tiered cotton LA skirt, with a huge, vibrant blue floral print, a cute little cream cotton, almost crocheted LA short sleeved jumper and ballet flats.

I had the skirt in black with huge pink roses worn with a LA new romantic ruffled shirt. I'd wear all of them now if I still had them.

This reminded me that in 1989 in Princes' Street I was stopped by someone to say the black, double breastfed LA riding oat, with voluminous skirt with 3 inverted pleats, huge cuffs, velvet collar and buttons was the most beautiful coat she had seen.

I managed to replace it from ebay in 2019 and on its first wear was stopped and told the same.

If either of these, then yes. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334593992423

Edited

I think mine is nicer! There are 3 inverted back pleats on mine, each pleat topped with a velvet button.

I also had a navy coat which I called my Howard's End coat because it looked like something Helena Bonham Carter might have worn in that film. Loved that coat.
