You have lovely hair and will be able to style the cut out however it looks like a pretty bad cut to me. Is it a wolf cut? Or something along those lines?

thank you! A wolf cut is what I asked for, we spoke about how long I’d want it and the fact my hair is naturally wavy, but that I mostly wear it straight so a cut that would work for both. We agreed on just below shoulder length. I didn’t mind how short she went as it needed a good chop.
But there are some pieces that are about two inches short randomly dotted about, then the missing chunk, and then the long piece at the front she’s left in for some reason 😂

That’s a spectacularly bad cut, sorry OP! I usually think posters are being dramatic.

I wouldn’t go back there to get it fixed, it looks like the receptionist cut it!

Turtleyturtles · 17/03/2026 19:10

I think you look great and your hair looks great! It looks thick and shiny and stylish to me.

Hairhelpasap · 17/03/2026 19:11

I’ll definitely wash it again in the morning, straighten it as I normally would and then see what I’m working with
Does anyone think this hair do would be a realistic ‘correction’?

It does doesn’t it! Oh god. I don’t know whether to just ask for a straight up refund/partial refund or risk another cut from the same place. Or just go straight to another salon and ask if they can salvage whatever this hair do currently is.

If you can wear it up maybe just pause for now, don't compound the situation!

Dolphinnoises · 17/03/2026 19:14

That upwards line is usual in cuts for curly hair. Have you tried diffusing it?

reversegear · 17/03/2026 19:14

On your last post no, I’ll grow it out and let it level and keep it the length you have. It’s a very random chop! But your hair is lovely colour and condition so I’d say 6-12 weeks and it will all be good here you can long bob it.

Aw thank you. These kind comments are making me feel like all is not lost

You do have great hair naturally so hopefully a decent hairdresser can give you good options.
I'd suggest contacting the salon owner/manager with a factual message saying that the cut is uneven and a poor standard, offer to go in for them to examine it. Be clear about what you want (refund / consultation with owner to discuss styling options) and ask for that.

Good luck

I haven’t actually. Might do that in the morning then after I’ve washed it

Not yet. I’m wondering what the hell to do next. I’ve been out all day (looking like this 😂), then come home and had a closer look. Do you think I should go back or cut (lol) my losses and go to a different salon?

Personally I wouldn't trust the same salon on my hair again. I'd be asking for a refund and going somewhere else - can you ask friends for a recommendation? The reaction of an alternative hairdresser to your cut will probably tell you whether you can trust them to sort it.
Your hair is lovely, thick and bouncy, so I think it would look good in most styles, as long as it was cut properly.

I just don’t think I can walk about with such a noticeable chunk missing for so long. I feel like I’d rather have it cut even shorter than I was initially wanting, if it saves me having to try and disguise the bad cut for weeks on end

You have gorgeous hair but that is a shockingly poor cut.
It needs re doing to properly even it out.
Sorry, not sure of the language.
Your hair is so lovely I bet it can be done.
Someone with poorer quality hair would be rightly screwed.

Frumpitydoo · 17/03/2026 19:23

Sorry OP, that's awful. I'd go utterly beserk at the hairdresser.

Bogorf · 17/03/2026 19:01

on a side note I love the William Morris top!

Ooh, I've got one just like that from Tu!

Wonkywalker · 17/03/2026 19:24

My advice is to invest in some hats - I have been wearing them continuously ( in and outdoors) since the hairdresser went rogue and hacked at my hair rather than giving me the light trim I thought I was having. It is hideous - think of the in between stage of growing out a fringe so I cannot see.

I hope it is comforting to hear that your hair looks a lot better than mine and that I think you are very brave to post pictures.

PurpleNightingale · 17/03/2026 19:24

Hi @Hairhelpasap

I had a similarly awful cut recently. I went back to the salon by phone and said I'm really unhappy with how uneven the layers are and that I'd had similar feedback from family and friends.

They offered a free correction cut with the same stylist or a different one. I think this is quite normal.

I'd do this and maybe ask for a new stylist when you do. It still wasn't great after but was a definite improvement and I'm glad I did. I think you have to do it soon though- if you wait too long it feels less genuine.

Sidebeforeself · 17/03/2026 19:26

Well I think it looks great. It’s unusual got loads of “direction” as they say. V funky and it suits you

There’s where I got it ❤️, it’s the dress version. A right bargain in the sale as well!

It looks like the fringe hasn’t been blended properly into the rest of the hair, however your hair is lovely and I think, as others have said you can curl it of rough dry it for now.
i agree with PP about going back to the salon and saying you’re not happy and maybe letting a senior stylist fix it. I like the style in the photo you shared, which is really lovely, so you could go with that. Or ask them to sort the layers out in the cut you have.
edited for many, many typos!

Frostynoman · 17/03/2026 19:30

They’ve not tackled the longer layers well (too long for the cut and inspo pic) nor have they blended them

teletubbyy · 17/03/2026 19:31

I wouldn’t cut it even shorter, I’d just wear it up/curl it for another few months then get a blunt bob !

MiaKulper · 17/03/2026 19:34

I've had a bad cut like that and I went straight to Boots and bought hair ties and slides. Wore a ponytail for months.

safetyfreak · 17/03/2026 19:36

Is there anyway you can hide that chopped bit until it grows out?

Do tell the salon as she could do this to someone else.
