The perfect travel jumpsuit?

Morning! Just booked our summer holiday and with the miserable weather I’m already daydreaming about the airport.

Tenerife in August with DP, 18m old and 6yr old, so comfort is key as the toddler will almost certainly spend half the time climbing on me.

I love jumpsuits as they’re so easy and can feel put together with little effort, but Ive never travelled in one.

I’m thinking something lightweight, elasticated waist maybe with loose legs. I’m 5’1 so ideally cuffed ankles as otherwise things trail unless specifically petite/short or I snip fabric off the end 😅

I’m currently around a UK 12/14 with a big bust, so ideally something forgiving at the top. I’m also hoping to lose a bit of weight by August 🤞so something with a bit of flexibility in sizing would be a massive bonus. One of our flights is an ungodly hr too so im thinking about how to go from cool to hot in the same outfit.

What do we think?

Any recommendations very welcome.

Thank you

You need to think about the toilet situation on a plane/public loo

Muckypig · 08/03/2026 07:51

Of all the clothing, plane toilet plus jumpsuit does not scream comfortable and practical to me 😂

HappyFace2025 · 08/03/2026 07:51

First post nails it.

If it’s a jersey, strappy or stretchy one not sure it would be that hard to use the toilet? DP will be there (actually my mum and brother too) so plenty of adults to hold little one so can go on my own and if easy to slip down it wouldn’t be much different to having to hold lose trousers up.

Am I missing something? (Genuinely asking as only issue I've had with using the toilet and jumpsuits have been with structured ones or ones with lots of buttons)

This was my first thought too. I love jumpsuits and have several but I’d never wear one on a plane. Baukjen and Hush are good for jumpsuits.

When you take it down or indeed have to take it off, it will likely sit in a pool of other people’s piss on the floor.

ChocolateHobbit · 08/03/2026 08:18

It's no problem wearing a stretchy jumpsuit on a plane. You just pull it down and hold it so it doesn't touch the floor.

People are being ridiculous on here.

ScaredOfFlying · 08/03/2026 08:20

“travel jumpsuit” is an oxymoron.

Yes that’s what I was thinking, I’ve never, even at home just taken loose trousers down and let them sit on the floor, I always hold them up, why would a jumpsuit be different, just a bit of extra material surely?
I mean Ive worn them before and never let them just fall to the floor.

All I can picture is the top touching the loo when you pull it down/sit down. Plane loos are revolting.

Edinburghdaze · 08/03/2026 08:30

I would go with sweat pants plus matching sweatshirt from sweaty Betty or Varley with white tee underneath for when you arrive and it’s warm.

I’ve tried this combo and it makes me look a bit dumpy. I also feel really under dressed in sweats.

100% not for travel / planes. You end up in a confined space in the toilet trying to stop bits touching wet patches on the toilet / floor / sink. Cuffed ankles keep the legs from dragging all over the floor but you end up having to hold the top half up with one arm, under your arm pits etc.

brittanyfairies · 08/03/2026 08:39

Halara have a jumpsuit which they advertise as being easy to go to the loo in. I bought one, it's really comfortable and actually very easy to go to the toilet in, nothing falls to the floor

This one looks great @andanotherproblem, such a shame they’re out of 12 or 14s
www.next.co.uk/style/su573947/an7588

I hate to think what a non model-bum would look like in any of those and even the slim, toned models manage to look stumpy in them.

None of them look 'put together'.

(No offence to you @andanotherproblem , I think it's just jersey jumpsuits in general that are fugly, not your choices!)

imadeitnice · 08/03/2026 08:44

I have two “Gary” sweaty Betty jumpsuits that I always wear to travel in. Really comfortable and look nice. I don’t think they still sell that style but maybe worth looking at their site.

I’ve got a couple of jumpsuits from Halara too for travelling, they wash great as well.

Bitzee · 08/03/2026 08:46

When my kids were 18 months it was a higher than average chance they’d puke mid flight. If they didn’t puke they’d definitely smear yoghurt on me or spill a drink or something. Honestly go with comfy separates. Make sure you have a change packed. Good chance you’ll use it. Save the coordinated nice outfits for when you get there.

NotARealWookiie · 08/03/2026 08:47

I usually wear dungarees for travel as they aren’t tight on the tummy, or a dress with leggings that I can whip off upon landing. I don’t think a jumpsuit is any different…you just hold it round your knees like you would with jeans or trousers. Yes plane toilets are grim but people on here do need to calm down.

could you wait a few more weeks op? The summer fashion is being released by the day!

piscofrisco · 08/03/2026 08:47

Look on Halara. They have jumpsuits that sort of pull down for ease of bathroom use. I had a jumpsuit from there once (not a bathroom one but a sort of wide leg cross over effect at the top one) and I think it was my most complimented outfit ever.

piscofrisco · 08/03/2026 08:48

Oh-should have read the full thread-I see someone has beat me to it. Anyway I second the Halara reccomendations

pokemoan · 08/03/2026 08:48

Jersey jumpsuits are quite hard to pull off.

Personally I prefer separates and layers as I get cold on planes and I’m tall so find the toilets pretty cramped.

FussyFancyDragon · 08/03/2026 08:57

I’m the same height and size as you, and yesterday I was researching jumpsuits for a trip coming up. I liked the ones on Cider that were like a hoodie on top, but not sure what they’d be like in length.

i decided against it though once I realised how little room there is in an airplane toilet and I wouldn’t want it touching public toilet floors etc.
