Is there a ballerina trainer or sneakerina that doesn't give Hotter shoes vibes?

I like comfortable shoes and have loved the trainer trend in recent years but I think that's blowing over. I hear ballerina trainers or sneakerinas (hideous word) are the next big thing. They all seem to scream hotter shoes catalogue to me though! Has anyone seen any that won't make this mid 50s woman look like she's raided her mum's wardrobe?

Or suggest other non granny shoes that stay on your feet for commuting across London please?

I’ve just ordered a pair from adidas but already have a sinking feeling that they look a bit scholl sandally/ too young and they haven’t even arrived yet!

Scholl and too young aren’t words I ever thought I’d hear together!!

I souldnt wear any of those tbh. Maybe the Louis Vuitton ones but thats a bit above my budget. Whats wrong with normal trainers then change at work.

I've not seen these terms before, does it mean like Bensimon, plimsoll type trainers?

I love that style, and get mine from this shop: https://www.naturalworldeco-shop.com/pt/

They're made from natural rubber and organic cotton, and for some reason the soles smell like bubblegum. I have several pairs in various of their styles.

Have you looked at Vivaia? Their shoes are comfortable and there are a lot of flat "all day walking" styles and colours to choose from. They are more expensive than Hotter, though, unless you can catch them at sale time.

I wear these in the summer, they are very comfortable.
I would say to size down as they do loose up a little with wearing.

I really liked the look of Adidas Samba Jane - but in colour. Mine are maroon

M&S also have a cool looking pair

scramalam · 28/02/2026 14:19

Ive the leopard speedcats, they are supercomfy. Love them

Neverendingtea25 · 28/02/2026 14:25

I like wearing trainers as I like wearing socks. Whatever do people wear with sneakerinas?!

You beat me to it by a milisecond! Just about to ask the same thing. I reckon no socks or footies maybe?

Socks?. Not seeing the issue.

I don't like trainers but some of these I'd definitely consider.

I have puma speedcats. So comfortable and look great in summer with casual dresses and wide legs jeans/trousers. I'm going to get another colour I'm such a fan. I'm 56 and have had nothing but compliments, from all ages, even my brutally honest adult DC.

I don’t like wearing socks, so this style is ideal for me.

I’m so glad winter is nearly over so I can stop wearing socks (and pegging the bastards out).

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 28/02/2026 14:58

ive got the adidas taekwondo ballet pumps and the samba Mary Janes upstairs and need to decide to keep one or neither sharpish as nearly out of time.

The taekwondo ones feel a bit narrow and the Mary Janes a bit baggy when I bend my foot to walk in them, so I think both will have to go back. I keep trying them on in case my feet or either pair have changed shape over night.

JumpingPumpkin · 28/02/2026 14:59

I love these, but over £100 for something that looks like it'll last a few months? If there's anything equivalent cheaper I'd be interested. Usually wear rocket dogs jazzin.
