@notwavingbutdrowning1 😁 ah yes, we were definitely hogging that mirror.

Posting all 3 items - slightly regretting not buying the navy linen shirt dress, the striped poplin dress and an orange skirt……

@IlovePond oh I had my eye on those bowls, gorgeous colour but bought 5 in Cairo at Easter so don’t need any more.

Did they have more stock out on Saturday ?

Saurus72 · 17/05/2026 14:46

@IlovePond Great buys! I have loads of Toast viscose dresses, some of which have been washed and worn frequently over 6+ years. I haven’t shrunk any (unlike cashmere jumpers…😵‍💫). I wash at 30 degrees for 45 mins, non-biological detergent and all good.

Bimblesalong · 17/05/2026 14:49

Re beach packing, I take a kikoy shawl that I’ve had for years. It doubles as something to sit on, a shawl, towel and bag if necessary. Very versatile.

I have a great blue and white stripy linen shirt from white co that has been a really versatile stalwart for a couple of years, thrown over various things or used as a jacket.

IlovePond · 17/05/2026 14:51

Those dresses are lovely @mizu The dungarees are very nice too and such a bargain!

I have no idea what I will be using those small bowls for, but they are pretty. (I am jealous you have been to Cairo btw!)

I went back in at 9.30 on Saturday and there was no new stock. What little was left was mostly tiny sized trousers and some dresses. I had seen the yellow dress the day before and as it was very quiet on Saturday morning, I tried it on and ended up buying it.

I was also tempted by a very nice brushed cotton large check dress but it had a weird neckline that I knew would annoy me, (presumably why it hadn’t sold).

Just hoping I don’t regret buying viscose - I had sworn off it until my relapse over the weekend!

Thanks @Saurus72 - I will try the non-bio on low temp!

Btw: I have cancelled my basket weaving spot. I realised I was never going to get round to buying a large bundle of cane, never mind soaking and cutting it, etc. 🙀

I enjoyed seeing your purchases @mizu @IlovePond 😊

hicat · 18/05/2026 08:43

@ScottishMouse im late to the party and nothing really new to add, only that even though I tan I no longer like being directly in sun. Love a big hat whose brim can be adjusted to eliminate glare/protect back of neck. One of my always favourite things on a hot holiday is my mums old beautiful cotton Viyella shirt. It’s pale pink and white stripes, very loose fitting. I’ve recently had a look on vinted and quality older Viyella things aren’t very pricy despite quality. I love a crisp loose cotton.
oh and nothing tight at the waist. Too sweaty!

hicat · 18/05/2026 08:48

I wonder if anyone has bought the stonewashed cutlery set? I’ll was considering buying a set to check them out, the photos are weirdly blurry on the website when you zoom in. Am I right in thinking they’re pintinox casali? It’s between those and a £££ set of sabre bristot. I’ve been thinking about it for two years 🫣

ScallopShellWalk · 18/05/2026 14:00

@ToastCosILoveIt I received the sample panelled cotton top today from Vinted. It is absolutely beautiful. The colour is so much more complex than I had originally thought and the fit and drape is so so lovely. It’s just gorgeous. I didn’t expect it to be so nice. Thank you for recommending it. 😊

Zeusrules · 18/05/2026 14:20

The fish dress is back in stock in many sizes if anyone else wanted one and missed out. Now I just hope it suits me as I love the fabric.

ToastCosILoveIt · 18/05/2026 14:35

Oh I’m delighted. Such a bargain too. I wore mine on holiday with the matching trousers, feels fab. As you say, the cut is very clever and flattering, even though sleeveless.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/05/2026 15:27

@ToastCosILoveIt I must admit those trousers look lovely too.

mizu · 18/05/2026 15:40

@ScallopShellWalk can you post a picture of it? It sounds lovely.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/05/2026 19:09

@mizu I have tried to capture the colour.

That looks lovely @ScallopShellWalk . From the photo it does look like it might be a bit darker than the one on the website which is described as ‘Dhal’.

Re the trousers, I can confirm that the reviews are true, the elastic waist suggests that they might add bulk but they are, in fact, extremely flattering.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/05/2026 20:37

@ToastCosILoveIt that’s good to know about the trousers.
I fiddled with the exposure trying to capture the colour though maybe I’ve gone a bit dark. It is a lovely colour but not bright.

I may pop into toast tomorrow, take a look. 😊

ScallopShellWalk · 18/05/2026 20:46

Maybe better photo

mizu · 18/05/2026 21:07

@ScallopShellWalk thanks, it is really lovely. The price of the one on the website though!

ScallopShellWalk · 18/05/2026 21:42

@mizu yes it’s pricey on the website. ☹️

ScallopShellWalk · 19/05/2026 21:21

@ToastCosILoveIt today I went into Toast in Edinburgh. I saw the lovely panelled sleeveless top in dal, it is the same colour as the sample one I bought. I tried on the matching trousers but in slate. I really really liked them but they were a bit long and perhaps a little wide. They were so comfy. Now I’m thinking I should have tried the size down. I wish I had. How do they fit you? Do they crease easily?

I had a good look around and tried on various linen trousers but in the end I bought a lovely brown/olive long sleeved t shirt top, which is really great for me, I really like it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/05/2026 21:30

@ScallopShellWalk , I bought the shall poplin trousers in a 12 and I am a size 12. They fit very well and no, they don’t crease badly (some creasing of course). I am 5ft 5 inches and the length for me is perfect. I love a wide trouser and so the width feels good for me. I would have bought the slate instead but I have a lot of dark trousers and no dhal ones and I do think the dhal top and matching trousers look really good together. Perhaps you do need to try a size down. I didn’t try the 10s but they may have fitted too.

It is interesting how your top appeared in the photo, more of a chocolatey brown then a dhal. You can see why comments on Toast clothes sometimes bemoan a colour difference from the image on the website - very hard to capture it exactly.

There was a paisley dress from the current season on Vinted earlier - brand new with tags and around £85 so quite a saving. I think it was size 8-10 (small). I have that dress and while the reviews are mixed, I absolutely love it, feels very good to wear.

ToastCosILoveIt · 19/05/2026 21:32

Actually it is a medium, same size as mine which fits well for a 12 body.

So I sent everything from my large summer order back today - I used the Harper service and would probably have spent a few more days mulling if I hadn’t, but might think about reordering a couple of things later the next drop has nothing better.
The oat linen barrel leg trousers are lovely, but quite sheer, and I really don’t want to have to think about underwear. I would probably wear them on holidays but maybe not at home, so that doesn’t seem like a great buy.
The seersucker dress I tried again, in a smaller size this time. It looks good, but I’m not sure how much wear I would get from a sleeveless dress, and it is also quite sheer - again, it would be a holiday wear only.
The seersucker top is not a great shape for me. It makes me look bigger than I am and emphasises my bust too much. Shame as it would be useful in warm weather.
The tablier stripe shirt is a lovely easy shape but the colour looks terrible on me - too yellow of a cream.
The check shorts were an out there choice for me but I actually really liked the fun fabric. But they were far far too long on me.
The wool linen cardigan I ordered a size too small, but it wasn’t special enough to think about trying a larger size. I found the sleeves very long which would annoy me in summer, and I thought the fabric might stretch.
The green linen vneck dress was so-so, I didn’t really love the colour though, it was a bit more washed out than it appeared on screen.
I also returned my fish top from a previous order. I love it, but similar to the stripe shirt, that cream that veers towards yellow just looks terrible against my very pink-toned very pale skin and I had to admit I would likely not reach for it.
I am now staring at my wardrobe full of black/navy/dark grey, and wondering how to make any of it work for a sun holiday.
In more successful news, I bought a Davy J swimsuit on Vinted which is great. I love their swimwear but stock doesn’t seem to have been replenished since last year - I wonder why.
