Here’s what I bought at the sale:

A brown wool coat - expensive, but hopefully a better buy than the bobbly monster I got at last April’s sale. I said I wasn’t going to buy another coat, but it is lovely.

A crepe dress that for some reason was only £15. I am not sure about it, but too good to miss.

Two glazed bowls, small and mini: £15 and £10.

Pair of Novesta pumps: £25 They’re a bit big but I decided to go for it.

There were some leather Vegas for a bargain £15!!! But they weren’t very comfy so I left them.

I love reading tales from the sample sale, well done on all the purchases! I’ve been to KC a few times but I’ve realised the ‘bargains’ I buy I never wear, so have stopped. DH otoh has had some amazing finds - £30 lovely trousers etc. My best find was Chie Mihara ankle boots that are so beautiful I can never really relax when I wear them in case they get scuffed 🤷‍♀️.

Far far less excitingly but gave me a bargain thrill were the 2 x £25 voucher codes Boden sent me today. No minimum spend - I used them to buy a white linen skirt and navy sandals. £30 for both, v pleased!

IlovePond · 15/05/2026 20:11

That’s such a bargain @Saurus72 - well done!

If you’re a 10, I’d absolutely recommend this on Vinted. It’s the top from this season as a sample.

As above, the poplin panelled top in mustard brown, although the sample has buttons all the way down the back, whereas the website top has only one button.

ScallopShellWalk · 15/05/2026 20:58

@ToastCosILoveIt thank you for the tip. I bought it 😊 fingers crossed it fits. It looks lovely.

@ToastCosILoveIt thank you for the tip. I bought it 😊 fingers crossed it fits. It looks lovely.

Fab, let us know if it fits/suits! I have it in the brown and the slate, love them.

ScallopShellWalk · 15/05/2026 21:57

@ToastCosILoveIt I will def feedback. I don’t have anything like it so it will be all new for me. It will be nice to have it over the summer. I can see it with a few bottoms I have already. I’m quite pleased, thank you. 😊 let’s hope we have some heat in our summer.

IlovePond · 16/05/2026 13:52

I popped back to KC this morning. All the lovely staff were very helpful. One was wearing the fish dress and it looked so nice on her.

I tried a few more things on and bought a dress from the sample stock.

That really has to be it for now 🙀

@IlovePond what is your new dress like?

ScottishMouse · 16/05/2026 22:09

Toasties who do sun holidays, I need help! I have never been on a sun holiday - I hate the heat, burn easily, and have little interest in lying by a pool or on the beach. But to keep the rest of my family happy, that is what we will be doing this year. Because this is not my norm I have absolutely nothing to wear or any idea what to buy. One thing I thought I had sorted was a dress/easy option for throwing over a swimsuit when going to the pool/beach. I have a cotton voile kaftan style dress from Toast from some years back. I bought at the time to wear as a summer dress in the UK but never wore it as it was too sheer. Unfortunately, it is now a bit small for comfort. What sort of thing does anyone wear in this situation? I hate bright colours and patterns, and really don’t want a holiday wardrobe which doesn’t feel like me. Any suggestions most welcome, thank you!

PrincessofWells · 16/05/2026 22:40

I have a neutral coloured oversized linen shirt I throw on over my bikini to cover up. Don't pick anything white though, as the sun cream stains it and it's almost impossible to get it out!

IlovePond · 17/05/2026 01:38

@ScottishMouse - I have a few long loose dresses from M&S - super cheap and very forgiving, all from their beachwear range. Back when I went anywhere hot and beachy, they were always my go-tos.

@ScallopShellWalk - on my first visit I bought a very odd/unusual crepe viscose dress that I will probably only wear as a skirt with something over the top - I probably shouldn’t have bought it, but I got carried away because it was only £15!

Today I bought another crepe dress - it’s one from about six years ago - either a Bryn or its predecessor. I almost bought it at the time and regretted not doing so.

I did say I wasn’t going to buy any more crepe/viscose clothes as I always ruin/shrink them during washing, but I seem to have thrown away that resolution, (along with the one about not buying any more coats!)

I’ll post a picture tomorrow.

@ScottishMouse Pond is right . M and S could be your friend here. I have also bought a long cotton dress with sleeves from H and M in the past for the same purpose but I had a quick look and couldn’t find a cotton one this year.
If you want to spend more Aspiga have some lovely holiday dresses but I thought them very thin and not worth the ££. Monsoon is more reasonable and has many kaftany type dresses but maybe rather colourful.
Agree re white. I love white but suncream spoils it .

Saurus72 · 17/05/2026 08:39

@ScottishMouse H&M linen shirts are really great, quality of the linen varies from colour to colour but v breathable, you can go oversized or not obvs.

Saurus72 · 17/05/2026 08:41

Uniqlo and Muji for linen dresses too. Latter tend to be oversized.

AmethystMoonShine · 17/05/2026 08:50

@ScottishMouse I’ve got a number of Toast kaftan style dresses in linen and cotton that I use for hot weather holidays. Might be worth trying Vinted/Ebay.
Also I got some lovely cover up dresses from Brand Alley a couple of years ago and swimsuits from an Australian brand. Hugely discounted. Think £35 for swimsuit that retails at £180. Very good quality, well made and covered the bits I want to cover!
I second avoiding white as sun cream stains them yellow. I’ve honestly no idea how people waft about in white in hot weather unless the don’t use sun protection. If anyone knows of one that doesn’t stain I’m all ears.
I’ve also had a few great kaftans from M&S, so second that idea too.
My top tip as a fellow very pale easily burnt person is a large brimmed hat. Also if wearing sandals in hot sunny places, don’t forget to sun cream the top of your feet! (Painful lesson learned)

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 17/05/2026 09:01

Hoping to get a new lightweight shirt for the summer, I have tried both the Indigo stripe cotton top and the Lightweight seersucker shirt this week. Both were a disappointment, the stripe top had a lot of extra material on the shoulders coming forwards over the bust - this looked really odd and I’m not sure whether it was the style or a fault; I like the seersucker shirt but unfortunately the shape didn’t suit me because of my narrow shoulders and large bust, also the button at the neck felt too tight.
Is there another new drop coming soon or is that it until the sale?

ScallopShellWalk · 17/05/2026 09:50

@ScottishMouse I got caught out last summer with nothing really suitable on my sun holiday. I bought locally. I bought a beautiful linen dress that I wouldn’t have found here nor would I have noticed it here as it really needed sunshine to consider it. I also bought a beautiful crocheted bag. Perhaps you could enjoy buying something at your holiday?
If I use suncream I put it on once at 11. I don’t sunbathe but I’m often out and about moving in and out of shade. I wear a sunhat and I found out I also need sunglasses in the sun now, so also had to buy them too. I enjoyed my shopping.
I recently bought a linen shirt from Zara that’s great to add a layer over anything. But a shawl would also be lovely over shoulders.

When I went to the beach I wore my swimsuit and a loose vest top over it only. I watched a woman manage to change discretely whilst sitting down, out from her swim suit into a lovely light wrap dress. She had it down to a tea and had virtually no baggage. I think she was sitting on a shawl type garment. No towel, just passing some time with a swim, looking elegant, then on with her day. 🥰 I’m going to take a leaf out of her book.

ScottishMouse · 17/05/2026 10:21

Thanks for all these great tips folks, I am going to do a bit of browsing online this afternoon. I had thought the new seersucker dress could be a good option (even though I sent it back as too sheer for everyday wear here), but actually I would rather have my arms covered for sun protection reasons.

@ScallopShellWalk that woman sounds like what I would love to be, but instead I am the one laden down with things for all eventualities struggling to take a sandal off without falling over. Oh to be elegant and carefree!

@ScottishMouse
Or even “Tee” 🤣 think I just wanted my cuppa. I should have made my coffee/tea first then wrote. I guess you can also get some unusual and nice things once at your destination or even at the airport. I bought Brora black cotton linen oversized trousers on the way out to my last trip. For me though I am definitely travelling light. That lovely dress I bought I wore it out most if not every night. Me nor my family minded I wore the same dress and the restaurants were all different. The Brora trousers I wore every night (I was on a walking holiday), I had to buy a belt and the Zara linen top that I also bought whilst on holiday, went well. Then I bought the lovely linen jacket of the brand you mentioned, Pas de Calais, on my last couple of days to travel home in. I guess because I travel very light on dressy clothes that I feel compelled to buy something if I feel short on something to wear. Which I actually like doing. It’s nice buying something you need and will use whilst on holiday. Won’t necessarily fit in back in Scotland but there will be other holidays. My kids too dragged me to the sun.

ScallopShellWalk · 17/05/2026 10:42

@ScottishMouse yes I too would like to be more like the minimilist elegant French woman and feel free. 🥰 It’s great to see different ways of doing things. Something light and oversized to change under would be great, rather than my heavy towelling robes. Or change in the room.
Have fun today. I’d love to hear what you find.

notwavingbutdrowning1 · 17/05/2026 12:52

mizu · 15/05/2026 18:03

Has a tie belt if needed.

I think I chatted to you while you were trying that on, @Mizu! It looked lovely. I was the short one gatecrashing your mirror and complaining about everything being too long for me. Afterwards I went upstairs to the other Toast and very nearly bought the garment-dyed linen shift dress at full price, but couldn't decide between Blueberry and Red Chilli (navy and orange in plain English). My husband got a lovely shirt in the outlet section at KC - he always has more luck than me.

I have just done quite a big (for me) Harper order to make up for my disappointment. Hope everyone who was at the sale enjoys their purchases.

IlovePond · 17/05/2026 13:47

That tie dye dress is nice @mizu

Here’s some pictures of what I bought. Coat not pictured as I have left it in its bag until I can find a moth proof storage bag to put it in until next winter.

I am actually more pleased with my purchases today than yesterday, (just hoping those dresses don’t go like shrunken, stiff dish rags like viscose usually does for me🤞)

I spent far too much, though! However, I have been very restrained in the sales recently.

I wonder if my recent splurge will be enough to keep me in Kindred? (I am up for renewal/expulsion in July.)
