@ScottishMouse thats a shame you were disappointed. It would be nice to have something. Re the cardigan, not sure about you but I’m still wearing my big knits, even to go out as then I don’t need a jacket. I do know what you mean about maybe not going to get much more chance to wear them now the weather is changing. I did in the end order the high neck jumper that I thought would not get used. I like it enough I’ll still wear it if I get a chance. I may make the chance. However last year I bought jumpers that I hardly wore this year as my preferences had changed. It can be a gamble buying at the tail end of a season.

@AFingerofFudge you are so good packing up the red jumper to go back. I’m not that strong. ☹️ but I’m glad you like the alpaca jumper, I’m hoping I like it too.

I recently bought a couple of things on Vinted but I’m going to quit that now. Nothing fits properly and I can’t send them back. So sales for me are likely the way to go.

MsDastardley · 21/03/2026 16:24

@ScallopShellWalk @AFingerofFudge I bought a Manos tank a couple of years ago. It looked gorgeous. However, dry clean only 😬. I think the tension on the hem was too loose and it went baggy. I did hand wash it and there was a slight improvement, but I wasn’t happy with it. Maybe you’ve saved yourself some money

AFingerofFudge · 21/03/2026 16:46

@MsDastardley that’s a relief to know. It’s actually slightly too big anyway as I went for the L/XL and probably would have got the S/M.

hicat · 22/03/2026 06:18

@IlovePond ive bought my parter a couple of toast jumpers, one wool one thick cotton, and both are the same size I’d have chosen for myself. I have worn them a few times, they’re certainly longer and a different kind of fit, but I’d say the “right” size for me still. Sleeves are a bit long but with the right item it looks kind of nice rolling them up a bit, or enjoying that slumpy feeling. I likes a few of the men’s sale items too!

Stoic123 · 22/03/2026 10:02

Morning all.

Couple of sales items ordered. Satin Back dress in Oil arriving tomorrow and a Wool Cashmere Neat Sweater in Forest still to be despatched. I have several of that sweater in other colours and the weight is good for me (I upsize to XL for a more relaxed fit). The dress is of the type I wear most often.

Nothing particular exciting - more of a 'maintenance' shop than a wardrobe expansion for me.

IlovePond · 22/03/2026 16:58

Thanks @hicat I am still pondering but must make my mind up soon!

Still no sign of a shipping notification for my Thursday order.

@ScallopShellWalk good old E17. I taught at Walthamstow Academy for years. I do miss it sometimes, now I am back home in Gloucestershire.

ScallopShellWalk · 22/03/2026 18:24

@Primrosespaw I worked in Walthamstow, Chingford, Leytonstone and Wanstead. Loved it around there. Up in Scotland now. My kids were born in Waltham Forest. We left when they were early primary age so they didn’t go to high school.

ScottishMouse · 22/03/2026 19:17

Thought I was done with the sale but I just went in for another look and ordered the neat wool cashmere sweater in night sky. I sized up ( ordered two sizes, one up and two up) as I don’t actually like neat sweaters, but I really like the fleck on the black so wanted to try it. Not holding out loads of hope as the reviews say the sleeves are long and I have very short arms.

hicat · 23/03/2026 06:50

Oh @ScallopShellWalk @Primrosespaw i lived in Walthamstow about 5 years ago! Near the village. It’s the only place I lived in London that I’d love to live in again. There was a “posh spar” as we called it that had an amazing array of specific and unusual foods. And their bread was heavenly. Learned to drive around Wanstead (late learner). Moved back to Scotland to be able to afford to have a child and a house!

ScallopShellWalk · 23/03/2026 07:37

@hicat I remember the spar and the sausage shop butchers across the road and flower shop. We lived down the road from there. Loved the ponds too. Yes it was lovely living there. We’d left by the time you lived there so wouldn’t have passed you in the street. Might now though that we’re both in Scotland. 😊

hicat · 23/03/2026 08:08

My memories of it equate to summer holiday memories @ScallopShellWalk ! It’s where I managed to move from short runs to 12 mile ones, the canal was amazing for keeping going. I love how parts of London feel more rural and free than where I am now. I would definitely be able to wear my toast waxed cotton bonnet hat there haha. Where I live now a lot of old men come up to me to comment on my toast green bobble hat (funnily enough made in Ayrshire where I live!) One asked to swap me for his baseball cap haha. There wasn’t enough of that in London…

ScallopShellWalk · 23/03/2026 08:15

@hicat I grew up in a wee village in Ayrshire, I can totally see the old men asking about your hat. It’s a nice way to pass time speaking to others. You should wear all your hats in Ayrshire. I live now in a wee village in Stirlingshire but no one asks about my hats. ☹️

hicat · 23/03/2026 11:49

Aw @ScallopShellWalk what a shame! Ayrshire old men have this wink head turn thing that is probably my favourite non verbal communication in the world. I was actually born here but lived all over Scotland (and London) before returning as an adult. Well the knitted wool hat (black one was in this sale still) was made in an Ayrshire toon! Grab yourself one if you want to make friends haha.

ScallopShellWalk · 23/03/2026 13:52

@hicat I’ll need to catch that hat in another sale. Was that the waffle one? I almost bought it for my dh but reviews claimed it ran small.

love that wink nod 🤗🤗🤗

My sales parcels came today, well only the ones that I ordered quickly, the later sales buys I haven’t even had an on the way email yet. I love both mine, the cobalt blue work jacket and my alpaca cardigan. I had a wobble over the cardigan as it had a little tight knot in the wool on the front but I’ve twiddled and now you can’t see anything. Also it’s looser and slouchier that I am used to and wondered if it was too big. Maybe it is, but it still feels and looks lovely. It looks like the website photos so it can’t be wrong. I’ve always wanted a long cardigan just like this and some have gotten away in the past, so I’m keeping it.

now to go and check out the curtains. I haven’t opened them yet.

Niminy · 23/03/2026 14:00

I went a bit mad in the sale and ordered four items (four! total madness, at least for my bank account). Blue-striped smock: nope, it's tunic length on me. V-neck black top: nope, too large at the shoulders so I can't lift my arms properly. Wool-cotton Alix trousers: what have they done with this once-much loved style? Nope again. Forest neat sweater, might keep, but even that I don't like as much as I thought I would. I can't work out whether I'm more relieved from a financial point of view or disappointed from a lovely new clothes perspective.

IlovePond · 23/03/2026 14:04

Still no shipping notification for me.

The men’s cardie had sold out when I went to check out and I couldn’t be bothered ordering the brown jumper so I am just waiting for Thursday’s order.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/03/2026 14:04

My sale orders have both arrived. @ScallopShellWalk I've looked at my curtains but not checked them against the window, I really need the dog to be out of the way first.
I found the cobalt workwear jacket quite oversized on the shoulders and the sleeves are quite long on me, but I like it so much I’m keeping it anyway. I do think the material will relax which will make the shoulders look better.

The tee which I had previously ordered and sent back as too small, seems to fit well, which is odd as I haven’t changed size.

The terrang boots are going back, quite narrow to get my foot in and I think I prefer muck boots.

The Bert Jones mug is lovely and will probably get added to my mug collection used for flowers.

MiracleToast · 23/03/2026 14:08

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I’m very curious about these curtains as I’ve never seen them in the homeware before. What are they like? Hope they fit x

faustina · 23/03/2026 14:11

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - yes, do please tell us about the curtains! I'm just off to try on my gabis

PrincessofWells · 23/03/2026 14:18

Not sale related but has anyone bought the gingham organic cotton dress? I'm wondering what the fit is like . . .

ScallopShellWalk · 23/03/2026 14:22

The curtains I want to keep. They are very lightweight and let the outside light through which I wanted but I’m hoping you can’t see through them. I have yet to put up a curtain rail so it’s hard to know but I think they are lovely. The photo I saw of them I think they look more white and blue in real life but I still like them. I bought 2 sets as I wasn’t sure if I’d need both for the one window. Let’s see what dh says. I’m hoping he likes them too.

ScallopShellWalk · 23/03/2026 14:27

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I too wondered about the jacket being on the bigger side but I too liked it too much. A smaller size often doesn’t really work for me. This way I can have more room for wider sleeves, a cardigan etc. it’s nice, I’m glad I am keeping it.

Let me know how you view your curtains.

MiracleToast · 23/03/2026 15:12

What a great find @ScallopShellWalk

faustina · 23/03/2026 15:18

@ScallopShellWalk - they are lovely! I don't even remember them being on the site before. Are they linen or cotton?

My gabis in wood ash are actually a really good fit, but I think they might have to go back as they're not really different enough to my 5467 other pairs of Toast trousers. This might be the first sale from which I've kept nothing!
