Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

This is a very good point @ScallopShellWalk about not knowing what others’ opinions on how things look on you is based on. I know, for example, that there are certain friends/family whose opinion I would never ask for because their taste is very different to mine and they wouldn’t like or appreciate the elements of a garment that I do. I used to be very sure of myself when it came to choosing clothes and outfits, and I feel less certain these days, so I do seek out other opinions, but that might not be the best approach. Maybe my eye for it will return.

I know that those of you who remember ‘coatgate’ will sympathise with me when I tell you that beepinbeepity not so DDog has eaten my yoga mat whilst I left him with DS2 this pm. I am not happy…

@IlovePond oh no 😬 sorry to hear that.

ScottishMouse · 25/02/2026 16:28

In case anyone was interested, my Sideline Billy trousers in oat from the new collection arrived and are sadly going back. The colour is quite yellow, a sort of buttermilk colour. I was hoping for ecru but I am not keen on this at all sadly.

Just did an interesting scroll through my Toast purchases since Jan ‘23 (as a rough marker as to when my body shape was starting to change and I was starting to feel lost in my style). Of the 50 items I bought in that time, I have sold on 32 of them!! Some of those I grew out of, some were bad sale purchases (I have got much better at not doing that in the last few sales), but some were the result of me just not having a clue about what suits me anymore! All the homeware and accessories I bought in those three years I am still enjoying though.

ScottishMouse · 25/02/2026 17:03

@IlovePond oh nooooooo!!!!

IlovePond · 25/02/2026 17:08

I know @ScottishMouse 🙀I almost called the new thread: Keep the dog away from your Toast clothes!

If he’s eaten my coat again, I will be furious 🙀

Anyway, as promised, here is the new thread:

What about your returns @ScottishMouse What's your success rate like at online shopping. Would it just be easier just to go for in person like the lovely knitwear you saw recently in person?

ScottishMouse · 25/02/2026 17:26

Oh I would say my return rate for online purchases is probably about 70-80% @TosstTastic. But I am going to blame that more on Toast’s unpredictable sizing!

hicat · 28/02/2026 09:57

just catching up. I’ll place this message in the old thread before looking at the new thread :)

@OftenOrange sorry to hear your husband has been so unwell, I hope treatment is going well and that he recovers swiftly and smooth. Def a time for occasional treats :) I have the fracap ola in black (bought on sale maybe 2 years ago?) and they’re still black 🤞

@ScottishMouse is that the Donegal brown and white super thick cardigan (nearly a coat!) if so I have it too. I love putting it on in the house! I do find it’s hard to layer up for outside coldness but maybe with the change of seasons… it reminds me of my gran who was a very grand highland woman so I hope she’d approve!

I started a thread on style and beauty about a Toast dress, posters suggested I add it here.
I bought the Cosmic print column dress from Toast last year, they found some in their mysterious archives. It's to wear for my wedding next month. I took it to (an untried) seamstress to have the sleeves shortened slightly. I have long arms; this was still too long. Seamstress has done bodge job; lumpy gathering, uneven stitching, unfinished seams, marks on dress from being stored next to something like waxed jacket. May come out, haven't tried yet. I should have taken something that didn't matter first, seen how skilful/careful she was.
I was furious and upset. Now wondering what can be done; does anyone out there have one in size 10? It would have too long sleeves, I know, but don't know what else to do. I can sew a little, but not sure I can put this right.

Repost on the most recent thread @venus7 . It will get lost here.
(Exciting times Venus, let's hope the hive mind can heal the dress situation, they are a friendly lot)
