Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

Thank you so much @Gonegrey31 and @faustina . Every other member of the family is male and supremely uninterested in clothes (Even the dog) !

I thought that black and cream was a good way of not clashing with unknown colours, but thought it might be out of the clashing frying pan and into the faux pas fire. You've given me confidence, will order the jacket to try with the dress. I'm keeping the dress anyway, I love it!

ScallopShellWalk · 16/02/2026 19:18

@Scotiasdarling I like the sound of your outfit a lot. The jacket looks lovely. Also I would expect it will not clash with any of the others. I would happily wear that myself.

I hope you have a lovely time. Can relax now you have your outfit.

I liked your child sons comment. 😁

Saurus72 · 16/02/2026 19:26

@Scotiasdarling It sounds fabulous to me. Re: Toast sizing, are you familiar with it? I tried that jacket last summer and loved it - am waiting/hoping for it to go into a sale at some point! I’d size down one if not two sizes. Please report back once you’ve tried it on with the dress 😊

ScottishMouse · 17/02/2026 12:56

@ToastCosILoveIt had another look at the green mohair jumper at the weekend but they didn’t have my size in store, so I had ordered it and hope it’ll arrive tomorrow. I think the green is going to be great and I don’t know why I don’t ever wear green.
@Snowyowl78 I keep looking at the waxed Frankie now that I can imagine spring might arrive at some point. I do wonder if it might be too long though. Did you decide to go for it?

Primrosespaw · 17/02/2026 16:02

@ScottishMouse my green mohair jumper has arrived. It is lovely but slightly unusual shape on my figure. I will need to do some trying on to see how to style it.

Snowyowl78 · 17/02/2026 17:34

@ScottishMouse no not yet, haven’t quite come to terms with the price! Maybe though. Soon.

ScottishMouse · 17/02/2026 19:35

How so @Primrosespaw? I tried the honey and I seem to remember liking the shape, but will see for sure when the green arrives.
@Snowyowl78 do report back if you go for it!

Primrosespaw · 17/02/2026 20:06

@ScottishMouse it is me rather than the jumper. I am really short waisted and short of height and I think the way it tapers in a bit at the waist and the billowy sleeves looks a bit challenging on me with the first try on with a pair of oversized indigo denim Alix’s. I have also made a lot of crumbles and stews this winter so looking a bit hobbity around the middle. I have been having a good clear out of clothes today, which I tend to do every school holiday. Once I know what is what in the wrdrobe, I will start experimenting. It is a keeper, absolutely beautiful, will just require some thought. I think it will look good with a long streamlined black linen skirt I have.

ScottishMouse · 17/02/2026 20:18

I think @Primrosespaw that like many of Toast’s pieces, it probably looks best on a tall willowy figure. I am the very opposite of this, but I feel like the fact it is thin and drapey (as opposed to some of the denser thicker donegals for example), this one should work for lots of shapes and sizes. Hope you find some things it will work with.

Countmeout · 18/02/2026 20:40

A drop in reworn. Lots of very small sizes though. Usually happens before a drop of new stuff or is that coincidence?

actually I hope so I was getting a bit bored with the current rather disappointing drop.

ScottishMouse · 18/02/2026 21:02

My mohair sweater and alpaca cardigan arrived today. The mohair sweater is a keeper in green. I like everything about it apart from the fact that it is a little itchy, but I can deal with that.
The lofty alpaca cardigan in brown is not for me. I don’t love the colour on me, and even though I sized up, I still found it a bit too neat on the body.
An easy choice thankfully.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/02/2026 21:20

@Countmeout thank you for the heads up on the reworn drop. I ordered a nice dark blue linen easy dress. I wanted something just like it. If it fits. Can never be sure of sizes but at least I can return.
@ScottishMouse thats great that you liked the green jumper. I really like green myself. Maybe it’ll open up new options for you.

Countmeout · 19/02/2026 04:37

Yes @ScallopShellWalk better than taking a risk on eBay. I’ve ordered a silk/cotton pyjama style shirt. Hope it fits.

JJkate · 19/02/2026 07:25

Hello everyone. Does anyone know if there are any good similar alternatives to the Nishiguchi Kutsushita socks? They're so great, but so expensive!

IlovePond · 19/02/2026 08:19

I’ve just watched the wool video on the Toast website and remembered how much I would love to visit Shetland!

I was also reminded about how lovely Toast jumpers used to be before they entered their ‘every jumper must be boxy and cropped’ phase - I so wish they would vary the shape of their knitwear for those of us who look ridiculous in this style!

A couple of things that ‘got away’ from me ages ago have appeared in Reworn but in the wrong size.

I don’t really like most of the current stuff, tbh. (Or I do, but it’s ludicrously expensive 🙀)

@JJkate I have a huge collection of wool socks - I agree the ones from Toast are lovely but expensive. Have you tried Finisterre? They’re lovely, more robust somehow but still v high wool content. They always seem to have a 3 for 2 offer on which makes them v good value.

hicat · 19/02/2026 08:30

Ooh I second the finisterre sock recommendation, I’ve been given a few for christmasses and I look forward to them coming out the wash heh. I bought a “merino” pair from Celtic and co and they were the worst socks I’ve ever bought, including cheap ones. I felt like I’d been instascammed (they only refunded me after a Trustpilot review, before they were going to “test” the socks to make sure I wasn’t scamming them.

Countmeout · 19/02/2026 08:48

I have a pair of those @JJkate , they are fabulous. Rather like the washing woolies bit I wear them more than once, they don’t smell ( I sniff 😳) so warm. I bought a pair of woolly blue ones in the Toast sale , mistaking them for the same, but they’re much thinner. Strangely I have bought a few pairs of socks from Dunnes of all places that are also beautifully snug . Not quite as thick as the Nichiguchi and obviously lower wool content but at least at £4 they give me options. They came in plain colours.

mizu · 19/02/2026 09:15

@ScallopShellWalk that’s the only thing I liked the look of in Reworn last night. There were a couple of cardigans too but so much size xxxxxs and size 6 to wade through!

OftenOrange · 19/02/2026 09:41

CakeAndJazz · 13/02/2026 18:25

I was wondering if anyone has the FM cream trainers with the cherry red accents? How versatile is the colour way? I do generally like a pop of red…I recently sold my light grey pair as I wanted something a bit more warm toned, but now am looking for a light coloured replacement.

I have those cream and red FM as well as a earlier version in navy.
They are useful and very comfortable, and sufficiently different to generic whitish
trainers which I don’t like.
I do wear the navy more but the cream are great for lifting a dark outfit and the red accents are so fun.

JJkate · 19/02/2026 10:00

Thank you for the recommendations 😊. I agree, they don't smell at all! Do you recommend the Finisterre bosun or ribbed? The bosun look extremely thick so may not fit in boots.

Thanks so much @OftenOrange - I decided to order them and they’re on their way to me at the moment. I suspect they’ll be just what I’m after.

MsDastardley · 19/02/2026 18:10

@JJkate I was gifted with 4 pairs of the Nichiguchi socks. Whilst I’ve found them lovely and cosy one pair has already developed a hole in both toes. Not been worn that many times either. I’ve got loads of other Toast socks and never had this happen before. I wondered if it was because of high wool content

ScallopShellWalk · 19/02/2026 21:27

@Countmeout let us know how your pj shirt turns out please. I don’t recall what it looked like.

@mizu I really liked the linen easy dress, I was surprised to see something I really liked. There were a couple other things that were interesting but this is something I was looking to get for summer. Fingers crossed it fits. Did you refrain?

I have three pairs of the niguchi socks. I wear socks out quickly normally but they got massive holes in them after just one wear. They’re pretty but I wouldn’t buy again.
