Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

@Snowyowl78 , reporting back on the pantry wrap shirt and the jersey skirt. As a standard size 12 I think the medium is definitely a better fit for me. The large lost its shape a little and also ballooned out slightly on the bust. I also raised my arms while wearing it and it rose up just like the medium one. The batwing sleeves are very pronounced, joining the body of the shirt not that far above the hemline. So, I am keeping the 12. I also tried the dress on and was very, very tempted. It really is lovely but the dressing gown vibe is real when wearing it. Definitely one in the sale for me though.

I have bought the jersey skirt. It is definitely a faded fabric, much like the raw hem loop back jersey trousers. The pleats at the front and the slanted pockets are very flattering however and I think it will work for me with a lot of my boxy blouses and more cropped jumpers, as well as the pantry wrap shirt. The medium is a good fit for me. I bought the crockery print boxy shirt in cinnamon which will go well with it.

Sending best wishes to you and your relative @OftenOrange, yes do treat yourself, during hard times it can be lovely to have a Toast diversion.

@ScottishMouse a few years I had a toast v neck cardigan, with patch pockets, in this wool / recycled cashmere yarn. It did 'pill' a lot and seemed a bit insubstantial, somehow.
I think the fact that the cashmere is recycled renders the yarn more susceptible to pilling- presumably the recycling process in itself creates the vulnerability.
I'm in favour of recycling fabric and yarn... but really don't think it's worth what Toast are charging!

ScottishMouse · 21/02/2026 19:42

Thanks all. I think the consensus is to walk away from the cashmere-wool. I just need to keep reminding myself that every time I am tempted (which is often!).
I overheard in store recently that there is a big drop coming at the start of March. I am generally less excited about spring/summer clothes, but I will still look forward to what is coming.

ScallopShellWalk · 21/02/2026 20:05

@CakeAndJazz thats great you got a nice dress in like new condition too. Do you think these reworn clothes often come from old stock, perhaps too old for sales? Which dress did you get? I’d be interested.

Regarding the discussion of bobbling of the wool or cashmere, I do notice some of this but it doesn’t yet look scruffy. Though perhaps the cardigan I wear nearly everyday at home could do with a bit of debobbling but it still looks good. Mine aren’t very old though, maybe next year I’ll have more to say.

OftenOrange · 21/02/2026 21:21

Thanks everyone for your good wishes, it’s my husband actually and there’s a long road of recovery ahead so occasional treats will be my way of coping.
I think my voucher is just for the acct linked to my old e mail so I can’t even clock up Kindred points .
I think it’s going to be the pantry stripe top for one, based on reviews here, and I’ll take a look now to see if anything else wows.

@ScottishMouse The check scarf if really useful I have the previous iteration in rust and mauve and have used it on repeat .
They combine colours really well and although it ties in a clumpy way because boiled wool it looks fine,
I’ve 2 cardis in cashmere wool, I don’t often wear the orange Eden and it looks like new whereas an older v neck with pockets does look a bit scruffy . I’d say buy a piece on sale and keep it for best, I don’t think the textile performs very well as a workhorse.

ScottishMouse · 21/02/2026 21:30

@OftenOrange i don’t think i have ever noticed these scarves.- probably because i am almost allergic to any sort of pattern 😆 but i think this one could be very useful so i may order.

ScallopShellWalk · 21/02/2026 22:05

I’ve just been on reworn again 🙈 and ordered kickflare velvet trousers in bitter chocolate. I really need to try trousers so at least I can send them back if they don’t fit well. It’d be nice if they fit as they look simple and I haven’t had velvet trousers for a long while. I do like velvet and it says hand wash. I shouldn’t look.

Countmeout · 21/02/2026 22:53

I hope your husband is well soon @OftenOrange .
Definitely treat yourself.

@ScallopShellWalk my reworn is not due until Monday.

So glad to hear summer stuff is on its way. I love summer. I have just bought the Beyond Nine black borderie anglaise dress as I am going away in a few weeks and felt like something new. I got tired waiting for Toast to get to summer.

I love the wool/cashmere sweaters. I find it helps to lessen bobbling when you wash them.

IlovePond · 21/02/2026 22:53

@ScottishMouse - DS1 very generously bought me the boiled wool scarf in the dark blue colourway for Xmas, (Toast promptly reduced it in the sale and I didn’t dare tell him!)

I love it and wear it all the time. It is surprisingly warm, considering it’s so lightweight. As it’s boiled wool, it’s supposed to be dry clean only, though. (I wouldn’t dare wash it myself - I suspect it would felt.)

@ScallopShellWalk - I think some of the Reworn stuff does come from old stock - for example, when there is only one or two of a particular item left and it’s not worth creating a sale listing next time around. I bought a Reworn linen dress last year and it still had its tags and had never been worn.

It’s also possible that the odd thing has been used in a photoshoot.

Someone on here had a theory that some of it came from recycled staff clothes, which is quite possible and a good idea.

My personal theory is that most of it comes from Circle Exchange events i.e. stuff brought in that hasn’t found a new owner during the event - after which Toast is free to do what it likes with the stuff left on the Exchange rails.

@ToastCosILoveIt on the jersey skirt is it relatively big? Lots of the reviews say it’s too big on the waist.

Saurus72 · 22/02/2026 09:52

Morning Toasties, I’m widening out my search for S/S clothes and I have a few brands on my radar. I wondered if anyone has tried LF Markey, Sideline or Indi & Cold? Any info re: sizing, quality and general thoughts most welcome 🤗

Snowyowl78 · 22/02/2026 10:03

@Saurus72 i really like sideline and I’m considering a pair of brown trousers in this new release! Sizing is quite small. I’ve ordered Large in everything as a Toast 12 (real life 14). Quality is excellent.

Stoic123 · 22/02/2026 11:08

@OftenOrange - wishing a good and fast recovery for your husband.

On a non clothes note, I keep on being drawn to the Vera Vera Washing Basket. Does anyone have it and is it as lovely in real life?

clearsky · 22/02/2026 11:13

My favourite brand apart from Toast is Oska. The light trousers and tops are great for summer and it’s so refreshing to walk into a shop a see a broad colour selection.

Snowyowl78 · 22/02/2026 08:38

@ToastCosILoveIt on the jersey skirt is it relatively big? Lots of the reviews say it’s too big on the waist.

Hi, I wouldn’t say big, no, definitely on the generous side of medium but I don’t think it has too much material on the waist like one of the reviews has referred to. It sits on the waist, not clings. I didn’t try the small on so I can’t comment but then I didn’t feel the need to when trying the medium, I didn’t have any doubts about fit.

I had a bit of a skirt fest yesterday and did buy two others but there were gaps for them in my wardrobe. The railroad stripe skirt, mediocre to me online but in the flesh, the fabric and cut when tried on are absolutely lovely. I also think it’s a skirt for all seasons.

A close second was the lovely pleated cotton linen poplin skirt in enamel blue. I missed out on a similar coloured skirt last summer because I was dithering but I think the cut of this one and its fabric are way better. Very flattering, sits flat across the front and skims from the rear. I don’t think this or the ash brown one are shown to best effect online as they’re modelled with the matching shirts so they don’t show the flattering front waist. I’d be tempted by the ash brown one too, further into the summer.

All three of the above skirts are pull on. I think Toast have upped their game with skirts this season.

MiracleToast · 22/02/2026 11:44

@Stoic123 i have this and absolutely love it, it’s so beautiful and practical. I would like another!

Snowyowl78 · 22/02/2026 11:44

@ToastCosILoveIt thank you! There was a small on Vinted momentarily but it’s gone now!

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/02/2026 11:55

I tried on a few other things while I was in Chelsea - the Sculpted Indigo Denim Trousers, tighter on the waist than last year’s version and longer. I don’t think the cut is as good as last year’s or the ecru ones which are much more sculptured. I tried a 12 and perhaps should have sized up but I didn’t want them.

The crockery dress in cinnamon, nice but the cut a tad boring perhaps.

The cotton Jersey v- neck dress, I only tried it in shall as I grabbed it off the rail by last minute, and would definitely need to size up, but didn’t bother as it didn’t wow me.

@Saurus72 i have two pairs of Sideline’s Billy trousers and have just ordered the oat pair from the new drop. I LOVE them, my favourite trousers of any I own. I have never tried any other Sideline items, so can’t comment on sizing generally, but the Billy are big. I have xs and would be a s in Toast trousers, maybe even a m sometimes.

Stoic123 · 22/02/2026 12:06

@MiracleToast - thank you. Getting to line drying season and I think it will add pleasure to that job.

ToastCosILoveIt · 22/02/2026 12:08

Oh, and the Fracap Fred Oyster Grey sandals. I thought I’d love them but their suede more than nubuck and definitely need to size up. They did nothing for me so went bank on the shelf.

MiracleToast · 22/02/2026 12:26

@Stoic123 it absolutely does!

VivienneDelacroix · 22/02/2026 12:35

Interesting to hear people's opinions of Sideline - I've been eyeing up some pieces from there.
