Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

I keep getting emails from toast asking if I saw something I liked…would I like to make a purchase? Well if you hadn’t taken me off Kindred I would have bought the gorgeous pink stripe bedding set - I decided to buy one from John Lewis instead, they have a loyalty program anyone can join.

Well said , when will companies realise that loyal customers are like gold dust ?
How short sighted to discriminate on the basis of a yearly spend, financial and life events fluctuate unless one is shopaholic.
I really hate these blatant double standards: spend, spend spend while mending and recycling .

IlovePond · 20/02/2026 15:59

@TheBogPeople - you should email CS to that effect!

@TheBogPeople@MsDastardley mine developed holes / lots of thinning on the bottom too. I thought it might just be my mishapen feet.

ToastCosILoveIt · 20/02/2026 17:05

I love a good pair of socks but agree with this chat, they can be hard to come by and too thick is not the way to go if you want to hold on to your shoes and not size up on all of them to accommodate socks. As I have ‘difficult’ feet, I absolutely have to have space in the toe bed of the left foot and a think sock can scupper that.

Did anyone try or buy the Carys micro houndstooth wide leg trousers? I have the indigo ones from last year and just bought them but they are going back. The crotch is odd and they look like they will crumple quickly and easily when worn. I was disappointed the fit wasn’t better as the reviews, all 12, on them are really positive.

I am keeping the pantry stripe shirt in my usual size 12 though, really lovely and will go very well with the dark denim Toast Japanese jeans that I have from last year. If you haven’t tried the sculptured seam jeans, I would recommend them. I love my dark ones so much that I have just bought the ecru ones too, although I had to size up in the ecru which does make the curve look rather exaggerated.

A second pair has just gone. Sounds like I’ve had more use than some as got around 6 wears out of them! I’m really disappointed, they were a present from my daughter and I thought they would last for years. On a positive, the honeycomb and the cashmere and cotton socks I bought in last sale are showing no sign of wear and I’ve had them on almost every day. They are much thinner too.

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks for update on the houndstooth trousers. I had my eye on those but was unsure about fit. IME most Toast trousers have been long in crotch area. The cord barrel are only ones that have worked for me.

dottyaboutstripes · 20/02/2026 17:51

Hi Toasties from a lurker!
is there any point in trying the cord barrel leg trousers as a 5ft 1 person? My toast collection is basically knitwear and dresses - I love, love, love the aesthetic but find most of it swamps me. I’m really drawn to these trousers though (and the shirt 😍)

MsDastardley · 20/02/2026 18:53

@dottyaboutstripes I’ve just bought 2 pairs and I love them. I am 5’6” and length is slightly cropped on me. I think the length from crotch to waist is quite long though, although these are the best fitting I have found from Toast.

OftenOrange · 20/02/2026 19:23

And there I was loving the Nishiguchi socks so much that when I wash them I feel bereft wearing others !
I love the lofty springy footbed , I swear it makes walking such a pleasure .
After experiencing the comfort of beautiful socks I really notice the scratchy stitches on inferior ones.
For me it’s the Chup socks that have disappointed , thinning close to holes on heels and toes.

faustina · 20/02/2026 19:38

@dottyaboutstripes I'm 5'4 and those trousers are fine for me even though I have really short legs. I would definitely recommend you at least try them - they are lovely

Yes! They're lovely and will probably hit just below the ankle bone ❤️

Snowyowl78 · 21/02/2026 07:54

@ToastCosILoveIt ooh tell me about the Pantry stripe shirt! I’m going to try it I think but I’ll prob have to order both the M and the L as the reviews suggest sizing up from what I can gather…

dottyaboutstripes · 21/02/2026 09:21

Thanks for the trouser feedback - I’m just so fed up of returning so many purchases.

I’m also ex Kindred but have no clue how on earth I ever qualified in the first place as I certainly have never spent a huge amount of- it was very nice while it lasted for that one short year (can you hear my wistful sighs?)

Hi, I went for the medium and I’m a 12. It’s true, you can’t lift your arms too high or the whole thing comes up too but I wonder if the large would mean it loses its shape too much. I’m going to a toast store this pm for a mooch so I’ll report back as I’ll try the large on there. I’m also going to try the pantry dress. I like the idea of the top as a little jacket as much as I like it as a blouse too.

I’m also going up try the pull on jersey skirt in a small and medium. I know it’s had poor reviews on this thread and mixed reviews online but in theory it ticks a lot of boxes fit me so I’m keen to see it in real life.

Oh, and I’ll try the fracap Fred sandals in oyster. Again they’ve had mixed reviews and I think a side up might be needed but I love the fracap sandals. .

Snowyowl78 · 21/02/2026 09:47

@ToastCosILoveIt thanks! I’m also keen on the jersey skirt. I might try the ‘try before you buy thing’ has anyone tried it? The Frankie coat is too much to shell out in upfront!

OftenOrange · 21/02/2026 11:10

Just found a 20% off from Toast but it expires tomorrow , so only a day to decide.
It went to a e mail address I used to use for them , but it is no longer linked to my main account, ie they are looking at bringing customers back into the fold .
I ordered a few items from reworn last week but on my usual Kindred account , so I don’t know about buying anything else.
Except it’s been a terrible week as family member has been hospitalised with sepsis and is just starting to improve, so maybe I should mark the upturn with a little cadeau…

IlovePond · 21/02/2026 11:13

I hope your family member recovers quickly @OftenOrange

Sorry to hear that @OftenOrange hope all is okay and also you are able to find something to cheer you up. Is the code one that only works for you or might it be shareable? Apologies for being cheeky!

ScallopShellWalk · 21/02/2026 12:36

@OftenOrange i hope your family member has a good recovery, sepsis is awful.

I think it’s nice to mark an upturn of someone’s health and the lessening of worry with a little relaxing of purchase constraints, if you can afford it. Let us know if you do. Plus I guess it won’t be often you’ll get 20% off.

ScallopShellWalk · 21/02/2026 12:40

Today my reworn linen easy dress arrived and it does fit, thankfully. Quite long, at my ankles I guess, and balloons out around the hips but I really like it. Dark blue, midnight it’s called. I looked it over and I honestly can’t see how it’s been worn already. That’s good for me. I now have a casual linen dress, which I wanted.

Did any one else receive any purchases?

ScottishMouse · 21/02/2026 14:38

@OftenOrange wishing a speedy recovery to your family member. How nice to find an unexpected 20% discount code though! What are you thinking of using it on?

I’d love to hear everyone’s experiences of pilling with the cashmere-wool knits. I have been eyeing up both the charcoal Ffion and Eden cardigans for so long (years probably), but am always wary of the cashmere-wool mix, as I had a jumper once in this that pilled terribly. I bought the cashmere-wool tank in stone before Christmas and absolutely love it. It has pilled a little, but not massively, but being sleeveless I feel like the worst of the pilling is avoided. A staff member once said she thought the pilling was worse/appeared worse on the darker colours, so I’m apprehensive about charcoal. She did also say that the pilling calms down after the first while. Can anyone comment? I hate pilling, but love these cardigans and either would be so useful if I wasn’t constantly worried about it looking scruffy. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts/experience.

faustina · 21/02/2026 15:19

@OftenOrange I'm so sorry about your family member - hope they get well soon. You must of course spend that voucher. Something for you and something for them perhaps!

I have a few toast wool-cashmere jumpers and tbh I wouldn’t buy another one. Mine have all pilled really badly, with no sign of it lessening. They look really scruffy and cheap, because they are just so bobbly, to the extent that I don’t really enjoy wearing them - even if I spend ages with a cashmere comb, they still look awful after a wear or two.

Which is a real shame, because other than that they are really nice!

ScottishMouse · 21/02/2026 17:31

This is my fear @RockaLock. I don't mind a bit of maintenance, but not if they still look scruffy a wear or two later. I have been loving my donegal cardigan this winter because it is so hardy, and I have worn and worn it and never need to debobble. I do wish Toast could find a less bobbly option for their lighter weight knits, as the styles and colours are so useful.
Have spent the afternoon half watching the rugby and half browsing the Toast website, and I came across this scarf which I don’t ever remember seeing. It looks lovely, the colours look interesting and good for spring. https://www.toa.st/products/pantry-check-boiled-wool-scarf-pale-stone
I’ve been stalking the website for a return of the alpaca wrap cardigan, but no luck. I tried it but foolishly returned as I wasn’t sure, but wish I hadn’t. I don’t suppose anyone is planning to return one in S/M?

Hope your family member recovers fully soon @OftenOrange

@ScallopShellWalk I also received a Reworn linen dress and it looks brand new to me. It’s a really lovely style from a few years ago (before I started shopping at Toast), and will be perfect for lounging in. Was a really good price, so I’m very pleased.

@ScottishMouse I think I might have mentioned before I have a few of the Eden cardigans and they do pill, but I don’t mind de-bobbling. Possibly not for you if you prefer hard-wearing knitwear. I would really love the grey donegal cardigan you have, but I’d have to wait and hope it is in a sale at some point.
