Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

I have some Sideline from last SS and and I think the sizing is quite small too. Quality is excellent. I’m not sure about LFM, but someone here mentioned getting a few pieces, so might be worth going back a few pages to check.

@ScallopShellWalk I can echo @IlovePond and think it’s possible that some very old stock is sold on there. I’ve attached a photo from IG of the dress here.

@CakeAndJazz very nice linen dress, very nice. I wanted a similar grey check one but haven’t found my size yet. . I hope it works out for you when it arrives.
I’m pleased with my sleeveless navy one, though I’m sure it’s not meant to be as long. I haven’t really found an image of it on a body since seeing it but I may recall a harbour scene with a linen dress I liked and wondered if it was that one. My eyes hurt searching so I’m having a rest from looking. Plus looking has me see other things I really like. Like the checked linen wide legged trousers, with pleats I think.

Regarding reworn. I noticed some that I have returned get added back to reworn and some don’t.

faustina · 22/02/2026 13:58

@Stoic123 I have the washing basket too and while it's extremely pretty it's not so practical for me if using to take up and down stairs, out to the washing line etc. I think it's because the base is quite wide so I can't carry it on one side as I did with my old basket which was a more conventional wicker basket. It makes a good laundry basket for putting clothes in, but I'm back to using my almost falling apart one for the garden and taking to the washing machine etc

@Saurus72 I had some Billy trousers too and found them very big, like Scottish Mouse.

Countmeout · 22/02/2026 14:51

Indie and Cold looks interesting @Saurus72 . I hadn’t heard of them before and poking the internet about I see they have a shop in Malaga. I will make a point of going there when I am in Spain next month to have a look.

I do like the look of some Sideline but have never bought anything. The delivery charge and having to pay for returns puts me off. I don’t mind paying one way but it could become expensive both ways.

I love that washing basket. Probably not practical for me though.

IlovePond · 22/02/2026 14:54

We’re getting towards the end of this thread - I will start a new one soon.

I ordered three things from Reworn - due tomorrow. A shirt from a couple of years ago that I shouldn’t have returned, but I expect it to be too small, a linen dress and a linen shirt that is also from a few years ago.

It would be nice if at least one of them is a keeper.

Well said , when will companies realise that loyal customers are like gold dust ?
How short sighted to discriminate on the basis of a yearly spend, financial and life events fluctuate unless one is shopaholic.
I really hate these blatant double standards: spend, spend spend while mending and recycling .

Very, very well said. I don’t want to come across as a moaner, and still love toast’s style, but really.

@ScottishMouse a few years I had a toast v neck cardigan, with patch pockets, in this wool / recycled cashmere yarn. It did 'pill' a lot and seemed a bit insubstantial, somehow.
I think the fact that the cashmere is recycled renders the yarn more susceptible to pilling- presumably the recycling process in itself creates the vulnerability.
I'm in favour of recycling fabric and yarn... but really don't think it's worth what Toast are charging!

I avoid knits made of recycled yarn/fibre - the quality is always terrible and the price always high.

I mostly stick with pure Shetland now, no pilling and lasts a good few years with some darning. (I run a farm and am very hard on my clothes).

clearsky · 22/02/2026 11:13

My favourite brand apart from Toast is Oska. The light trousers and tops are great for summer and it’s so refreshing to walk into a shop a see a broad colour selection.

Me too @clearsky ! Their trousers are absolutely the best. Someone even ran after me in Waitrose car park to ask where my trousers came from (when she caught up with me I thought I must have dropped something vital like biscuits!)

I asked about the linen neat jacket last week and have been thinking about it since. I think it was @faustina who mentioned sizing. I used to buy a lot of Toast (and was on here but name changed). However I buy much less now because there is so little I like. Looking at tops I mostly have medium although I have to say some are a bit big. The sizing guide suggests a 12 so I am going to give that a go. I really wish the shops had stock so I could just try one on. Another massive plus about Oska is that they happily get things in from other branches for you to try if they don't have them, and they usually arrive next day.

clearsky · 23/02/2026 11:32

@Scotiasdarling yes they are great for ordering from a store. I have ordered a couple of times in store when my size or colour was out of stock and the item has arrived the next morning at home with no extra charge. Brilliant service.

IlovePond · 23/02/2026 12:59

Hi,

My Reworn order has arrived.

The blue/white striped shirt is beautiful and clearly brand new - sadly it is too small. I am still really angry that I listened to DH and sent back the one I originally bought 😼

The dark blue/black striped linen dress is also brand new, but is a tiny bit tight on the chest and huge everywhere else. I didn’t realise it was one of those that is fitted under the armpits and then flares as it’s not a style that suits me and I wouldn’t have ordered had it been clear from the pictures.

Both of these are lovely and I heartily recommend them should they reappear on the site.

The best fit, (although still a bit too tight across the bust), is the linen tunic. However, it is battered, clearly extremely well-worn and arrived smelling of biscuit! It is clearly off the Circle rail. After a good wash and with a tee underneath so I could leave more buttons undone, it would be a keeper for £20, but not at £43.

Nevertheless, I am still giving it some thought as it would be a handy addition to the Pond wardrobe. However, I may have to contact CS about the smell - they had no business sending it out like that!

My reworn also arrived. The PJ style shirt is a perfect fit @ScallopShellWalk I think I had bought this in a sale yonks ago but a flower was in an unfortunate place so returned it. It’s an odd colour but do have things it will work with.
I also bought a half sleeve jumper which is described as linen. I like the fit. Currently trying to think of things it will work with. It would go with navy so probably will keep. It seems to have run in the wash as the label is tinged with it. I’ll have to be careful.

Am sorry there were no clear wins in your parcel today @IlovePond, and really grim that they sent out an item that’s clearly not clean. I went into my closest store today to ask for a repair on my minako linen trousers - I think you’ve mentioned before how they became really sad looking after only a few washes…I found exactly the same with this pair and wear them at home only, but I mentioned this to the assistant and she suggested I try iron them. I only have a steamer, but never even thought to try that either as they just look beyond any help really. Have you tried either steaming or ironing yours?

IlovePond · 23/02/2026 14:13

Hi @CakeAndJazz - I don’t iron, (don’t even own one 🤣), so that’s a no-no, but the steaming is a possibility so I will give that a go.

Thanks for remembering and thinking of me!

I have emailed Toast about the very smelly top - I await their response with interest.

DH said: Nice top but it looks really old and worn and worth about a fiver!

I really wish the other two things had fitted/suited me as they were lovely !

OP posts:
OftenOrange · 23/02/2026 17:48

@Countmeout The blue pj shirt is lovely ,Iove the blue grey tone
@IlovePond That’s a shame , fit is always a gamble .
Re smelly top, your DH is very blunt , his fiver won’t go far at Toast.

My reworn parcel came too ,
Hat looks unworn, very quirky but I love it . It was still pricey at £58 but I found a photo of it being worn online ( not Toast, I don’t think it was ever so.d there) and as it’s Muelhbaur it was an eye watering 250 £ so it feels like a good buy .Its

Butternut cardi, a bit shapeless and no thanks
Kaftan dress,, a bit tight under arms , would be better in 8, not sure if I love it any more . Had been disappointed not to get it originally so mulling it over.

I used the code for the Pantry stripe top and the Fracap Ola sandals in Olive which I had refrained from buying. I love Olive but now am reminded that my Olive Fracap boots have become greyish black over time.

Thanks again for the support over DH I’m expecting a few months for recovery so having a splurge has been lovely .

Sadly he’s not wrong though @OftenOrange 🙀 - sending out something in such bad condition isn’t good! It’s a shame, as it was a nice top once.

Your order looks nice. The hat looks particularly lovely!

MsDastardley · 23/02/2026 19:08

@OftenOrange I have Fracap sandals and a pair of monkey boots in the olive green, and neither have changed colour. The boots are around 3 years old and look perfect. I don’t clean them very often, just the occasional wipe over with a leather wipe. I love the green colour, for me it’s like the perfect neutral and goes with so many things in my wardrobe.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/02/2026 19:55

@OftenOrange My navy Fracap sandals faded to brown, when I emailed Toast cs said they were meant to change colour over time Hmm.
They did exchange them eventually but I use navy polish to keep the colour now.

ScottishMouse · 23/02/2026 20:05

I’m interested to hear this talk about the fracap olive leather. I bought the Ola sandals quite recently, but have been wondering whether they look that good on me and I am still inside the return period (just about) so need to decide. I tend to keep shoes that fit and are comfy because that is rare for me, but sometimes I overlook how they suit me as a result. I really like the colour but would be far less likely to keep them if I thought they weren’t going to change colour. Do I remember someone else here a long time ago talking about a pair of Fracap shoes that changed colour?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/02/2026 20:17

@ScottishMouse Yes, that was probably me with the Fracap sandals. I did post about it.

ScottishMouse · 23/02/2026 20:27

So they were navy and became brown @Theteapotsbrokenspout? That is quite weird.
I just checked and I had miscalculated and am about a week outside the return window annoyingly.

OftenOrange · 23/02/2026 20:27

I have olive monkey boots too @MsDastardley , I polished them with neutral polish and they don’t look at all green now, but a dark grey . It’s ok I’ve had them for almost 3 yrs , but my Robert Clergerie shoes are as green as when I bought them so it must be to do with Fracap leather .
As they are supremely comfortable I’m fine with them, but I don’t need another pair of brown Fracap sandals!

OftenOrange · 23/02/2026 20:29

@ScottishMouse Did you eliminate the new suede Fracap sandals from your choice? I haven’t seen them IRL , they look good but reviews were rather poor.

ScottishMouse · 23/02/2026 20:30

@OftenOrange would you mind posting a photo of the now dark grey boots?
