Welcome to the Toast thread where we talk about what we love, (and what drives us mad 😹), about all things Toast.

As usual, pictures are welcomed, as are comments, questions and info about Toastie topics.

Here’s the twill dress in real life

@ShrankLastWinter oh that’s lovely, my kind of dress!

Countmeout · 02/01/2026 18:50

Oh dear I hope they’re good for you @Abdnshireoutdoorsy . They do give. I thought I was glad I kept the smaller size when I put them on the other day.The brown were a similar fit.

faustina · 02/01/2026 19:03

@Abdnshireoutdoorsy - I've also ordered the pear cord barrel leg trousers in an XS.
@Countmeout I hope they don't come up too big or too long? It's so hard to get barrel legs to work with short legs because you can't really roll them up. As I write this I'm even wondering if I've tried them on before and sent them back. It won't be the first time I've done that 😃
STILL waiting for my final order from December 23rd!!

Abdnshireoutdoorsy · 02/01/2026 19:05

@Countmeout as long as one of the sizes fits I’ll be thrilled - I’ve decided this year is the year of being comfortable and these look so useful.

I also thought the conversation on the previous thread about the best loved purchases being the ones made at full price to ring true for me too. My old Gabis (from 2021) were a full price purchase and I’m still wearing them weekly (although I did take off the waistband, shorten the rise, and reattach it which has made them perfect for me).

@ShrankLastWinter that twill dress is lovely - ignoring what I just said above I’m going to go have another look at the sale for any hidden gems I’ve missed.

One of my wishlist items (wool cashmere roll neck) has been added so ordered it - some Guernsey socks & merino gloves have 'accidentally' been included in the order.

That roll neck is my top buy of the year. I'm sure you'll love it.

ScallopShellWalk · 02/01/2026 19:26

@ShrankLastWinter i also bought the organza dress and I bought a 10, I think my waist is bigger than yours, tho I’m working on it. I saw the website say the waist was 76cm in the 10. The length it says is the same for all sizes and waist for 12 is 81cm That’s what I read.

ScallopShellWalk · 02/01/2026 19:28

@ShrankLastWinter oh and meant to say I think the blue dress looks lovely on you.

ScottishMouse · 02/01/2026 20:03

@ShrankLastWinter that looks lovely on you! I keep looking at dresses in the sale, but then remembered that I have only two dresses in my wardrobe now - a cotton cashmere one for winter and a linen one for summer - and the cotton cashmere one has only been off the hanger once this year, and the linen one was worn only 2/3 times in the summer. I have to accept that I am not a dress person.
Re. the barrel leg cords. I bought them earlier in the season and had to take them up to get the length to work. But I am shorter than you @faustina, just 5’2”, so they might work without alterations for you. Size wise I went for my normal S, but they do give when worn. My problem with them though, and the reason I don’t reach for them, is that they bag at the knees and bum and the cord looks marked where it creases. I feel like they only last one wear before they look quite scruffy indeed. I did go for the dark grey, so this might not be as much of an issue with lighter colours.

ScottishMouse · 02/01/2026 20:07

@VivienneDelacroix how has your rollneck held up in terms of pilling? This is always my worry about the wool/cashmere knits. I did recently buy the wool/cashmere buttoned tank, but I figured that is less fabric to de-bobble.

faustina · 02/01/2026 20:08

Thank you @ScottishMouse . That's a shame about the knees. I had some cord Gabis in dark pear which did the same, so we parted company, and I wondered if being baggier to start with, these mightn't stretch so much.

ScottishMouse · 02/01/2026 20:10

They’re definitely worth a good try @faustina. I might just have chunky knees 🤣

ScottishMouse · 02/01/2026 20:27

Why do I keep going back in for another wee peek? Currently eyeing up the Donegal stripe tank, which I haven’t looked at previously because it’s not a colour I wear. Sometimes a short sharp sale is better.

mizu · 02/01/2026 20:44

KC was lovely - did not buy anything despite hanging onto this scarf for a while. Gorgeous colours. Might pop into my local shop to try on again next week.

@ShrankLastWinter
It was me who mentioned the low slung bust effect.
Now Im wondering if I should go for a medium ?
Toast recommended the medium and I ignored them and ordered a small 🙄
Would you mind telling me what size you are wearing in relation to your non Toast size ?
It looks lovely on you

There is pilling unfortunately. I do quite enjoy a cashmere combing session though!

Yorkshirelass04 · 02/01/2026 21:03

I can recommend the cashmere jumper dress. I paid full price for it but it's now in the sale. I'd recommend sizing down though!

Leftsidefacing · 02/01/2026 21:21

Hi all, thanks @IlovePond - new name for me too but I’m an old Toastie (as it were).

Nothing in the sale for me. I quite fancied the cream Kantha top and the geometric silk trousers but it might just have been the very high full price of both that was intriguing me, so I’ve closed the website and have put the telly on!

Trying to be far more choosy this year, if not on an actual no-buy…

Abdnshireoutdoorsy · 02/01/2026 21:25

@ScottishMouse thats disappointing that the cords don’t hold their shape - I’ve a cropped pair from Seasalt that are brilliant so I wouldn’t have thought to watch out for it. Thanks for the heads up, I will keep that in mind when I decide if I want to keep them or not when they eventually arrive (there must be quite the backlog now).

I’m in an M twill dress in that photo. I find M works in toast jumpers and dresses now. 12 trousers a bit big, 10 trousers too small. 14 dresses a bit big, not sure if 12 dresses fit. I have size 12 skirts from white stuff and some size 12 M&S jeans. M&S tops are 14. Hope that helps!

ShrankLastWinter · 02/01/2026 22:19

For the organza skirt it says waist is 72 in a 10, which would be a bit tight on me, so I really hope the 12 isn’t swamping. Will see!

Probably won’t see very soon since my first sale parcel only arrived today. But now I’m abroad anyway so can’t report on that yet.

ShrankLastWinter · 02/01/2026 22:21

Also, aren’t trousers that go baggy just the worst? Surely it should be part of basic spec to use a fabric that can cope with being trousers!

AFingerofFudge · 02/01/2026 22:30

@CakeAndJazz I got the charcoal cashmere dress but I was also interested in the brown one. I’m 5ft 3 and it is long on me but not ridiculously. I love it!

ToastCosILoveIt · 02/01/2026 23:18

Hi @ShrankLastWinter , my waist is measuring around 89cm which puts me at needing a 16 in the silk organza skirt, but I tried the 14 on and it was falling down to my hips so I am not sure I am measuring my waist right. I am very much a high street 12, pretty much 100%.

BettinaInDenmark · 03/01/2026 01:45

Was not thinking of buying more in the sale, but the added stock hit me hard.

Ordered the dianthus dress, as I love the pattern on the shirt. Other items ordered were the silk cotton crinkled skirt, the blue silk cotton shirt, the geo silk cotton gown (argh, the trousers were gone in L and XL), the navy wool cotton Alix, the blue stripe crinkled dress, and pear cord barrel leg trousers.

I think I will contact CS to see if the geo trousers should come back in stock.
