I want a scent that smells like baby powder... or something

I bought a second hand coat and it has THE most glorious scent on it.

Wearing it is like being snuggled up in a warm towel after a bath when I was three. Or maybe being hugged by some warm, glamorous mother figure (definitely not mine!) who sweeps in from a cocktail party, engulfs one in her fur stole and says "Hello darlings, did you have a lovely day?"

I can only think it must be similar to some common product of the 1970s... but I can't really say what, and I wouldn't know where to begin describing perfumes.

The scent seems to be all over the coat, so probably hasn't come from a personal perfume.

Um, with that hopelessly vague brief,Grin might any kind perfumista please have suggestions for something lovely and cosy so I and my wardrobe can smell like a glamorous snuggle!

Kenzo Flowers smells like this. Loads of people have told me this when I wear it

That’s smells like Parma violets

The Library of Fragrance do a Baby Powder scent. They also do New Baby and Baby Shampoo www.thelibraryoffragrance.eu/baby-powder/

@BruisedNeckMeat - mine leaves the groomer smelling of Lush 'Snow Fairy'!

I recall Anais Anais smelled like baby powder to my 16 year old nose, but my memory may be playing tricks. That was a looooong time ago!

Sasha07 · 08/12/2025 19:21

@BruisedNeckMeat it'll be this! I was reading the reviews a year or two ago and seen alot of groomers use it (as do I now... just on the dogs, mind...) BabyPowderDogShampoo sorry OP, not helpful to you but if you have dogs and want them to smell like baby powder too... 😁

Loulou dries down to a very powdery finish

EstherGreenwood63 · 08/12/2025 19:28

Heeley Blanc Poudre

I came on to suggest Philosophy's Baby Grace, or Pure Grace, as well as Molecule 01, but I see previous posters have already beaten me to it.

Korres' Lefko is also in the powdery family.

Demeter (Fragrance Library) - which is often stocked by larger Boots, and is reasonably priced (but not long lasting) - has both 'Baby Powder' and 'Baby Head' (!!) in it's range.

Others I've tried which I think have a powdery note, though not necessarily exactly like baby powder are:

A Drop d'Issey - Issey Miyake

Powder Love - Juliette Has A Gun

Violet Ida - Miller Harris

Hiris - Hermes

Splendiris - Parfums Dusita

Allure by Chanel always smelt of Baby Powder to me...

YourZippyHare · 08/12/2025 19:57

Elizabeth Arden - Blue Grass

McHot · 08/12/2025 20:01

Super milk from Lush is worth trying

Popwentmybrain · 08/12/2025 20:11

Cosy cosmetics do a full range of products in baby powder scent. Love the body spray and moisturiser myself. They also do a fluffy blanket scent that has a cosy vibe. Bath bomb bliss do whipped soap, soap sponges and bath bombs in a baby powder scent.

Therapee · 08/12/2025 20:13

Has anyone suggested Arpege? That really reminds me of baby powder, but in an elegant way.

OhMaria2 · 08/12/2025 20:29

What about Anna Sui, the original one?

PandoraSocks · 08/12/2025 21:18

I always thought Paris by Chanel had a powdery scent to it.

WellINeverYesYouDid · 08/12/2025 21:33

If you're looking for a powdery dry down it has to be Guerlain.

Shalimar would give you glamour but would I suspect be too strong a scent for what you're looking for. It's closer to Chanel Le Lion - redolent of a woody, smoky, wartime library.

The best scent for your description IMO would be Vol de Nuit. Now only available in EDT as it's not cost effective to make it as an EDP, but still smells like 1933 in a bottle.

Daimyum · 08/12/2025 21:33

Try noa, Cacharel. That is a 'clean' smell

Celynfour · 08/12/2025 21:34

My grandmother used to wear Elizabeth Arden Blue Grass and that had a powdery (fresh) smell . I don’t know if it’s still made

ForLoveNotMoney · 08/12/2025 21:38

I want this type of scent too! I’m too scared to just buy online though as I am so fussy 😂

ScoutOfTheSoftHeartsClub · 08/12/2025 21:42

Hmm … The OP wants a smell that recaptures the 70s - so ‘clean’ wouldn’t be right. It should be soft but with an undertone of damp sheepskin and Fray Bentos pies, when the closest we got to Paris was the school day trip to Calais …

NigelForage · 08/12/2025 21:42

No 5

abracadabra1980 · 08/12/2025 21:43

PermanentTemporary · 08/12/2025 13:39

I immediately thought of Chanel no 5 tbh.

I cannot for the life of me equate with a 'baby smell' - to me it's for posh mums and grandmas!

chunkyBoo · 08/12/2025 21:57

This is what Miss Dior reminds me of

OneBadKitty · 08/12/2025 21:57

If you want a fragrance that smells like baby powder then Teint de Neige by Lorenzo Villoresi is absolutely the one for you- especially good in the EDP version. You can buy it online or from Liberty etc. It's a great performer, creates a fluffy powdery cloud around the wearer.
