I want a scent that smells like baby powder... or something

I bought a second hand coat and it has THE most glorious scent on it.

Wearing it is like being snuggled up in a warm towel after a bath when I was three. Or maybe being hugged by some warm, glamorous mother figure (definitely not mine!) who sweeps in from a cocktail party, engulfs one in her fur stole and says "Hello darlings, did you have a lovely day?"

I can only think it must be similar to some common product of the 1970s... but I can't really say what, and I wouldn't know where to begin describing perfumes.

The scent seems to be all over the coat, so probably hasn't come from a personal perfume.

Um, with that hopelessly vague brief,Grin might any kind perfumista please have suggestions for something lovely and cosy so I and my wardrobe can smell like a glamorous snuggle!

Blush Oh no … That’s actually my perfume, @TressiliansStone! Ostensibly it’s my spring scent, but I like it so much that I’m sometimes still wearing it in December. (It’s perfectly beautiful, but really needs a hot day for the full effect.)

Have a sniff of Ghost and see if that fits the bill. It's not baby powdery, more like a slightly rose-scented talc I think.

I second this, or D&G light blue

Ptisenbon Tartine et Chocolat has an olde-worlde sort of a baby scent; I think it is made by Givenchy or one of the other big French houses

Perfume Parlour do a baby powder scent.

Apprenante · 08/12/2025 15:48

Shalimar has that smell I think

TheLilacStork · 08/12/2025 15:48

Philosophy pure grace or baby grace are baby powdery. Also I think it’s called something like molecule 101 or something reminds me of this smell too

The Fragrance Library scents from Notini are your friend - you can use as a standalone scent or layer with any of their very extensive range (I personally love Lemon Meringue, Leather and - weirdly - Play-Doh!)

Just popped on to say that the link in the "Trending" list said, "I want a scent that smells like baby po..." and I was very intrigued to see what the missing word was!

Estee Lauder Sensuous - is just what you need!

MyCrushWithEyeliner · 08/12/2025 17:48

Never heard of that site. They look good and they’re cruelty free 💕

Je Reviens by Worth could be up your street, if it's still made. It was one of my Mum's favourites forty-plus years ago.

Fiftyandme · 08/12/2025 18:03

Chanel Comete has a lovely baby powder undertone but unfortunately it is pricey.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 08/12/2025 18:53

Flower by Kenzo is just like that.

Algoquick · 08/12/2025 18:56

L’air du temps - Nina Ricci
Iris Poudre - Frederick Maille

Both smell powdery.
