I want a scent that smells like baby powder... or something

I bought a second hand coat and it has THE most glorious scent on it.

Wearing it is like being snuggled up in a warm towel after a bath when I was three. Or maybe being hugged by some warm, glamorous mother figure (definitely not mine!) who sweeps in from a cocktail party, engulfs one in her fur stole and says "Hello darlings, did you have a lovely day?"

I can only think it must be similar to some common product of the 1970s... but I can't really say what, and I wouldn't know where to begin describing perfumes.

The scent seems to be all over the coat, so probably hasn't come from a personal perfume.

Um, with that hopelessly vague brief,Grin might any kind perfumista please have suggestions for something lovely and cosy so I and my wardrobe can smell like a glamorous snuggle!

Literally clicked on this to say bet its Guerlain. Probably Shalimar. Guerlain are super powdery, which I love. Insolence is my ride or die, but Shalimar is what I wear when I want to encapsulate that hot 70s mum vibe 😅

Could also be Nina Ricci L'air Du Temps tbf.

My friend loved what her dog smelt of and she got some and people say she smells fab. She doesn’t tell them it’s dog perfume 😂😂😂

When I lived in NZ there was a deodorant called ‘baby powder’ in was a roll on, it really did smell of Johnson’s baby powder! I wish we had it here in the UK.

I don't agree that perfumes like chanel no5 or shalimar smell powdery. I think they are both really overpowering smells.

Aha, might the review have been this one, @ScoutOfTheSoftHeartsClub , for Frederic Malle's Lipstick Rose?

"It has an old Hollywood glamour about it (the powdery, sweet rose smell of lipstick and expensive face powder) mixed with the sugared violet candy. It's not a young girl's scent. It's a modern, sophisticated ride into total femininity. It's your mother in her best dress and a wrap, kissing you on the cheek and leaving her beautiful red lipstick on your cheek as she floats out the door for a night out on the town."

(Although at that price it's sadly not going to happen.)

I suspect what you're smelling is not Lipstick rose (which is quite sickly to my nose). FM's L'Hiver though smells lovely and powdery and soft.

I also think the coat may have Chanel no 5 on it.

The dry down is really soft and powdery though. Chanel no 5 smells like almonds to me after about an hour.

If you ever go to Turkey or Morocco this stuff in LC Waikiki smells just like baby powder, lasts for ages and is less than £2.

I'm thinking, Love's Baby Soft (if I remember correctly).

I have a bottle of that. I have it years. Is it still sold in the US ?
