🎄 2025 Style and Beauty Advent Calendar Discussion ***SPOILERS*** THREAD 9

BakeOffRewatch · 08/11/2025 11:45

New thread! Will this be the last thread? I think it will last two weeks and we’ll finish on a round number 10. Though Black Friday deals may mean we burn through this and 10 onto 11 and 12!

I’ve started getting Black Friday early access emails for 25% etc.

Hi I’m new to this thread, I missed out on the space nk advent calendar, thought about buying the John Lewis one but now not sure. I like the look of the liberty it’s the price that puts me off. I like the look of the Harvey Nicols and I’ve seen can get 50.00 off. I’ve had a difficult year been unwell and I went through the motions last Xmas for my children. I thought a beauty advent calendar or two, would give me something to look forward to. I also like the look of Lf and glossy box. What do you think is worth buying please

Sexentric · 14/11/2025 12:19

I guess it really depends on your budget. Personally I've bought 2. Liberty for a gift for someone who's had a year from hello to cheer them up (so that's my luxury choice) and Glossybix for myself. I think that one is great for the price.

Sexentric · 14/11/2025 12:20

Year from hello! Nit safe what a year from hello would entail...

What sort of products do you enjoy?

Liberty has plenty of luxury products and is fairly niche perfume heavy. If that's the sort of thing you value then despite the high cost it would be more of a treat than having two lower priced ones.

Personally I really like the JL one and would have bought it by now if I hadn't already bought more than I should.

Out of GB and LF I find GB to be more interesting and the palette and perfume in GB make it a good deal. Again though depends on what sort of products you would get most value and use from.

Not daily, but I would like a luxury BAC and have a look at the contents sometimes. There’s not actually things I really want in the Vogue, same goes for Liberty. There were some drawers in the F&M I really wanted, Cult Beauty was good for me but the box was so ugly. Sorry I’m a broken record!

I’m genuinely interested in the maths of why the M&S BAC isn’t worth £45. That’s £1.80 per item and there’s quite a few full sizes. What are people comparing to? Cos I want to know so I can get it 😂

@BakeOffRewatch It's definitely worth it if you haven't had it before but if you've had it previously it's very samey and therefore a bit boring. I don't want boring in an advent calendar so for me, not worth it.

If, however, it's got lots of stuff you would use or you've never had M&S or only had it once maybe, then it's excellent value.

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 12:40

@2025istheyeari - could you order M&S for your DM and get it sent straight to her by putting her address on the order?

You just the change delivery address on the checkout page. I have done this before with Xmas gifts.

I think it depends on what an individual values. I think the M&S one is great value and great for me at even at £60, but I don’t wear make up and value, all but a couple, of the products in there. Go on treat yourself . . . . 😈

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 12:51

@Lovereading1 Here are my recommendations by price:

Under £40:

Ted Baker 24 days of treats: £34.50 at Boots
Soap & Glory: £43.20 at Boots

Under £50: M&S: £45 (if you have the Sparks offer)

Under £100: I really rate GlossyBox. Code: 10OFF brings it to £81.

Under £160: Boots Premium: £150

Under £300🙀🙀🙀: Liberty: £275

I recommend watching some unboxing videos on YouTube. GB’s own unboxing is brilliant.

If you know you want more make up or haircare/skincare or perfume, let us know and people can give more specific recommendations.

Lovereading1 · 14/11/2025 13:00

Thank you everyone for your replies. I like hair care stuff, skin care like moisturiser, eye creams, face wash, I do like make up, I’ve not worn it in over a year svd would like to start wearing it again. I think I would like luxury products as a treat, stuff that I wouldn’t normally buy due to high prices. I think a mixture of skin care, perfume, hair stuff and a bit of make up

2025istheyeari · 14/11/2025 13:12

@IlovePond I could but there are things in there I know she wouldn’t use and I would so ideally I’d like to replace some drawers!
That’s so kind of you going through the advents for @Lovereading1.
i have Liberty and had it last year, it really is lovely and stuff I wouldn’t normally buy. I bought gb for my sister and replaced a few drawers I knew she wouldn’t like/ use. The palette in that one is lovely.
john Lewis is also good, and has a mix! No easy answer, may be worth you having a look at a few to see what’s in there and make sure the make up etc is the right colour for you. Hope things get better and that whichever advent you get brings you joy!

Isabelle70 · 14/11/2025 13:12

I have decided I don’t need the M&S for advent or Janvent so have donated the £45 to CIN. I am been convalescing working from home this week listening to the radio and it has been flipping amazing what Sara has and is doing.

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 13:12

Just seen that I put S&G in my under £40 list - it should be in the under £50 section 🙈

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 13:14

The trouble with having my a/cs on display in the front room in November, is that every time I come downstairs in the morning, I have a moment when I think it’s time to open them 🙀

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 13:25

TCB are offering 17% back on the Jo Loves a/c today.

Also: 10.2% back on the Benefit a/c and 8.5% on the Clarins a/c. Plus: 6% back on the Sephora Collection calendar and 9.35% back on the Penhaligon’s calendar.

No guarantee the cashback will track, of course, but great if it does!

Ilikeyoursleeves · 14/11/2025 13:30

@Lovereading1I’ve bought a Liberty AC this year for the first time, it feels like totally luxury compared to Next and M&S & Boots that I’ve had before. I had SpaceNK last year and I’m more excited about Liberty this year, the box is amazing and it comes in a beautiful drawstring bag too. 🥰

A real treat!

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 13:32

Completely agree @Ilikeyoursleeves

I regretted not buying SpaceNK last year but am glad I went mad and got the Liberty. It’s a huge purchase for me, but giving me so much pleasure just looking at it!

IlovePond · 14/11/2025 13:41

At Quidco: 12% cashback on the LF calendar.

trying29 · 14/11/2025 13:51

did someone just say there was a £50 HN bonus via Quidco today. have I dreamt that?

There was a £50 bonus cashback for the first 1000 opt-ins, but looks like the limit has now been reached

Feel a bit thick asking this! Is the Cult Beauty 'Groom and Go' box for men?

Feel a bit thick asking this! Is the Cult Beauty 'Groom and Go' box for men?

It’s unisex I’d say, it’s curated and marketed to be a stocking that can be given to men ie. no makeup , or floral feminine fragrances in the products. But the products are not “for” men. The only item in it that could be possibly construed as manly is the smell of the shower gel. https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/p/beauty-box/cult-beauty-groom-go-worth-over-80/17510752/

Thank you! I've bought it for my nephew - and then I had doubts!

Thank you, that's where I'm looking, they must not want me to have it. I'll keep checking 🤞😊

Me neither, are they trying to tell us something? 😂
