If you're 45+ do you wear tops/jumpers with slogans on the front ?

not necessarily the brand name, but a slogan of any kind.

I am wondering why anyone would want to wear something with any irrelevant slogan written on it e.g. Mint Velvet currently have a jumper with 'The Hamptons' written on the front. There is also one with thew words 'The Studio' in large print across the front. Just why and who wears these ?

Definitely not. Not to my taste. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a slogan and thought ‘oh yeah, that’s really cool’
I’m sure someone can pull it off somewhere but it’s not me.

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 30/10/2025 09:57

No, I think they look naff.

OSTMusTisNT · 30/10/2025 09:58

No, probably not since I was a kid, I think they are chavvy.

Even logos must be small and discreet for me.

Tickingcrocodile · 30/10/2025 09:59

Yes, to my yoga class. I just wanted something comfy and not too expensive. The slogan is neither here nor there to me.

KimHwn · 30/10/2025 10:00

Not for me but everyone has different tastes, and my tastes aren't better than anyone else's.

FourFiveEightNine · 30/10/2025 10:01

No, I don’t. But there’s an infinite number of other things to wear, so I don’t see an issue in logo covered clothes existing for those who like them.

AndeanFlamingo · 30/10/2025 10:02

I'm 45 but I've never worn clothes with slogans.

Lanva · 30/10/2025 10:02

Mayyyyyyyybe a casual t-shirt if it's merch from something I enjoyed like a great gig or a club I'm in. But just random assertions, no. I'm not going to work with "Be Kind" written on my tits.

MiddleAgedDread · 30/10/2025 10:02

no and it's really hard to find sweatshirts and hoodies without them on! They're in the same category as "live laugh love" signs IMO! I don't mind a small brand logo but no American states or "happy" type stuff thanks.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 30/10/2025 10:03

I do, i wear a lot of joanie, sugarhill etc who sometimes have things on their jumpers. I don’t really care what other people think though. I’m 46. i wear what i like.

Somethingtosayagain · 30/10/2025 10:04

Irredeemably naff.

octoverwhelmed · 30/10/2025 10:04

I do. I have a few. I like them. I was looking at an apres ski one for winter

Somethingtosayagain · 30/10/2025 10:04

Irredeemably naff.

In your opinion!

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/10/2025 10:08

I have a Bella Freud jumper with 1970 on the front. Does that count as a slogan? Her 1970 range is iconic but I actually bought my jumper because I was born in 1970 and I’m trying to face up to my age.

leakycauldron · 30/10/2025 10:09

I'm only 40 but I wouldn't not wear them.
I love graphics and typography so anything that has graphics and nice typography on it I would wear.

I do have to roll my eyes at the Yale and Harvard sweatshirts in Primark though.

Mollydoggerson · 30/10/2025 10:10

Sometimes, I literally do not care. I work from home, clothes are for comfort. I m almost blind to the occasional word salad added to clothes. I have some primark hoodies that have some words on them. I don't care.

Clothes judgment and clothes police are annoying.

dressinggowns · 30/10/2025 10:11

Yes, not a huge fan but its often hard to find a plain sweat I like and sometimes it breaks up the expanse of sweat if that makes sense.

Of course, like all matters of taste! I bet people find things that I like naff.

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/10/2025 10:15

I have a few. Wear them less often these days but I’m not against it iyswim. I have an old Bella Freud sweater with Love Hurts on the front, it’s lovely shade of pink so I do wear it sometimes. Got some graphic tees I like too.

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/10/2025 10:15

Just remembered that I have a couple of Katherine Hamnett slogan T-shirts too, including the Wham classic Choose Life.

Can’t remember the brand but I also have a black cashmere jumper with ‘Ca Plane Pour Moi’ written in white. I used to wear it a lot 6-7 years ago so it’s pretty much trashed now and has retired to the back of my drawers. I used to live in France and had been through a bad time but turned the corner so the message resonated with me and it was a lovely soft sweater.

If I wear a slogan, which is usually very very occasionally, it’s because the slogan resonates with me or reminds me of something meaningful.

Yes, and the OP was asking for opinions

CoasterCoast · 30/10/2025 10:17

No, I don’t like slogans. My 20 year old daughter wears them but I def wouldn’t. Bella Freud did a range for M&S recently. I was certainly not going to buy a jumper for £130 that says ‘Wham Bam’ on it.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 30/10/2025 10:21

I’m 49 and wear things like that to my yoga classes, currently wearing Gilmore Girls and Harry Potter ones, I really need to grow up at some point!

EveryMeandEveryYou · 30/10/2025 10:24

No, not my thing. It's like buying your pre-teen anything with "Juicy" written on them.

I did get given a science based "joke" t shirt with a venn diagram on it, but I use that as a painting top in the house only.

cinquanta · 30/10/2025 10:24

I do to the gym, and anywhere I go on the way to the gym.
