If you're 45+ do you wear tops/jumpers with slogans on the front ?

not necessarily the brand name, but a slogan of any kind.

I am wondering why anyone would want to wear something with any irrelevant slogan written on it e.g. Mint Velvet currently have a jumper with 'The Hamptons' written on the front. There is also one with thew words 'The Studio' in large print across the front. Just why and who wears these ?

T-shirts yes, mainly feminist or from Joanie.
Jumpers definitely no. I'm in my 50s.

Where do you get the feminist ones?

carconcerns · 30/10/2025 14:19

No never have and can't imagine I ever will.

I'm hardly a fashionista but I've never seen one that doesn't look uglier for a slogan. It immediately puts me off when shopping

I never bought my children stuff with logos either. I'd go as far as to say even quite discrete logos put me off somethimes, Im happy to pay for quality but don't feel the need for everyone to know and resent bring a walking advertisement!

halfandhalfchipsandrice · 30/10/2025 14:32

No I don't want to see labels either. M & S has some "designer" just now who has come out with childish words on women's jumpers "KIND". I just don't understand why someone would "design" that and why anyone would wear it.

Maybe a sweatshirt or graphic tshirt with a word on it, but not a statement slogan as such, more a graphic word pattern.

I used to get nice ones from Scarf Monkey but they are out of business now. However, Man who Has it All has some excellent choices (including ones for feisty girls).

No I dont

No, probably not since I was a kid, I think they are chavvy.

Even logos must be small and discreet for me.

I do wear slogans and band T-shirts but not logos or Disney

BlueEyedBogWitch · 30/10/2025 14:49

Yep, love a slogan.

I’m currently sporting a Bella Freud t-shirt, with the word ‘lipstick’ emblazoned across my tits.

Makes me smile.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 30/10/2025 14:51

I have a few from Black and Beech, too. My favourite is a pink one that says, ‘On Wednesdays We Smash The Patriarchy’.

DiscoNights · 30/10/2025 14:56

Not my style. I always wore slogan tops when I was a teenager though. Some of my friends in their 50s and 60s do wear slogan tops and they look nice in them. It just isn’t my personal style.

Tatiepot · 30/10/2025 14:57

I'm actively considering a Hufflepuff sweatshirt as a Christmas present from me to me...it's got text on the sleeves and a smallish logo on one side at the front, but I wouldn't wear anything with a slogan right across as I'm big-busted and it makes me self-conscious.

luckylavender · 30/10/2025 15:01

I wear some Spark clothing sometimes. So yes. I’m 63. Don’t give a fig what people think of me.

Ibizaonmymind · 30/10/2025 15:02

I will wear certain merch like sweatshirts and t-shirts but mainly WFH and loungewear.
I don’t wear anything like that to go out at all. I try not to be a clothes snob but it looks tacky.

HelenHywater · 30/10/2025 15:03

I'd wear a band t shirt, and I have a couple of Bella Freud jumpers with writing on, but I like those!

I'd wear an Anine Bing hoodie to yoga probably.

ThePoshUns · 30/10/2025 15:03

No I think they are a bit passè now

EducatingArti · 30/10/2025 15:09

Well, I have a t shirt with 1964, Limited Edition on it which I enjoy wearing!
You can guess how old I am!

SpelledOlivia · 30/10/2025 15:09

Loved a slogan top (and necklace) as a teen but I had a school /college friend who found them embarrassing and told me. I hadn't realised how much I'd taken it to heart and have been dismissing them as naff for over 2 decades but recently allowed myself to buy a very hippie one, which I will probably mostly wear to the gym, but it makes me inordinately happy to reclaim this part of myself.

Edited to say I wish I still had my Sunnydale High t-shirt, bought from As Seen On Screen before it went fast fashion😂

HouseOfNoRegrets · 30/10/2025 15:10

Meh. I've got some comfy gym tshirts with slogans and brand names on. Two of my favourite casual tops are ones I've picked up in charity shops with a) the name of the local garage in the village where I grew up (from a shop 200 miles away!) and b) an old band merch sweater (generally most hated of all, but mine's Neil Young so it's cool AF). Slogans and branding are fine.

Madickenxx · 30/10/2025 15:10

I sometimes do - I don't have many but I saw the one in Mint Velvet (Hampton one) and it's lovely so why not. It's a nice bright red and the writing breaks it up a bit. I'm big of boob so have to be careful with any print on the front but if it looks good on, I'm all for it.

It all depends on what it says - I don't like ones that has a message on it, like "be kind" or some stupid yoga phrase but a location or the brand logo (assuming it's not designer) is fine.

No but I dont think that general clothing like that looks good on anyone over 18.

Any adultbmaking slogan statements on a t-shirt looks childish.

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 30/10/2025 15:12

I have a retro print Logo tee from my company that I do wear. If there were classic slogan/brand tees from the seventies I might be tempted. 😅 But a jumper with the word Paris in sparkles across it isn't my cup of tea at all I'm afraid. And never has been - it's not an age thing for me.

I'm actually kicking myself for throwing out some band tees from the 80s now, after seeing an instareel in a shop where a secondhand Prodigy tour tee was about £900. I had stacks of them. 😫

outofofficeagain · 30/10/2025 15:13

I have some Spark t-shirts.

I have ‘nevertheless she persisted’ and ‘I incite this meeting to rebellion’

don’t give a fuck if someone thinks they’re naff.

I’m 51.

2Rebecca · 30/10/2025 15:14

I wear t shirts with events sporting or pop I have been to on them plus have a sweat shirt for one of my natural history groups. Not advertising logos though. I am not paying to be an advert

BodysBroken · 30/10/2025 15:17

Not often. I'd never buy anything with a brand name emblazoned across it, or a random slogan that doesn't mean anything to me.

However I do ocassionally wear band t-shirts (bands I genuinely love).

Also, I've got cancer and Never Fully Dressed has just released a collection of comfy clothing with zips to access ports, insert canulas, etc. I bought this sweatshirt as the slogan really resonated, plus the embroidery is beautiful.
