2nd order arrived. The brown slate velvet jacket is going back. It just doesn't feel or look very special and sizing is odd for me too.

The A line blue cotton canvas coat is nicer than I remembered from trying on the older green version and I'm probably going to keep this one.

Stoic123 · 30/12/2025 17:54

@Yorkshirelass04 - how did you get on with the velvet jacket?

Yorkshirelass04 · 30/12/2025 18:05

Hello all. My parcel arrived today!

I can see why some people didn't get on with the slate jacket as it's an oversized boxy fit, but I feel that's quite on trend. It's also quite lightweight which means I'll style with jeans or blaxk trousers. It's definitely almost black too!

I love the grey cord jumpsuit and it fits perfectly so I will be keeping that. It is a darker grey than pictures. Fits like the olive jumpsuit I bought earlier this year.

The Taro shirt is amazing quality and such a lovely blue. The cut though is very a line and it really protrudes at the front for me. Whilst I know A line shapes are very Toast sometimes they can just look like a poor fit.

I also wish toast didn't do so many tops with dropped shoulders, as they don't suit my broad shoulders very much.

Anyway I hope that is helpful!

Wondering when new items will be added to the sale… does it feel exceptionally long or is it the twixmasness?

IlovePond · 30/12/2025 20:48

@MiracleToast - the last couple of years, Toast have been very slow to restock the sale with returns. They used to restock every day after the first week or so, (once returns started coming back in), until the end of the sale period. More recently, we’ve just had one or two restocks at random points during the sale rather than daily.

They also used to add more items to the sale after a week, ten days, but they haven’t been doing that either the last year or two.

There also used to be far more things in the sale and more recent stock would also make it in.

I used to absolutely love the Toast sales. Recently, it’s all got a bit disappointing, tbh.

@IlovePond and gone are the heady days of going into a TOAST shop when the sales were on and you could browse and pick up such a bargain!

I’m at KC on Friday meeting up with a friend. Was hoping to be very frugal this December but having already bought the check skirt on Vinted, a TOAST denim dress and a TOAST long sleeve top, I fear I will likely see something lovely there.

I still want the denim patch pocket dress - tried on the last time I was there - just wish it had gone into the sale.

OftenOrange · 30/12/2025 21:08

@IlovePond I know what you mean about sales feeling less stimulating , but do you think it’s maybe because you already have a lovely well curated selection of Toast ?
That’s certainly my case and what with overflowing wardrobe and a reluctance to part with anything unless it’s awful , I’ve had to be ultra selective in what I keep from now on.
The clothes need attention, washing , cleanig, storing away between seasons, and I find it all a pain
That all against the fact I love clothes and always have since being forced into hideous garments as a child.

Yorkshirelass04 · 30/12/2025 21:20

I know what you mean @OftenOrange. I have a perfectly lovely set of clothes as I'm sure you do too! I'm envious they are mostly toast though as mine aren't.

I've had to learn my Toast style with a few items that just never got worn or were hit and miss from a shape or colour point of view. Then I have seen Toast style evolve a little over the last few years and there are different shapes and textures to try.
For me Toast feels like dressing for me and nobody else - what does everyone else think?

Saurus72 · 30/12/2025 21:42

Same @OftenOrange and @Yorkshirelass04 - as much as I’ve stopped buying as much from Toast over the past year, I’ve also bought less from other shops too. I have a pretty big selection of Toast dresses for virtually every need I could have, so adding just 2-3 new ones each year keeps things topped up. I used to cycle clothes through my wardrobe much more quickly, either selling lots on eBay, giving things to my mum/friends whereas that’s really slowed down now. I do crave some ‘omg I MUST buy that right now’ new things every so often so I hope they pick up a bit. Also agree with PPs from the earlier discussion that my most-worn and loved items have for the most part been bought full price. So that inevitably means a more boring sale, because if I like something I buy it instead of hanging on.

MiracleToast · 30/12/2025 21:55

Thanks @IlovePond I have been eagerly awaiting the “new items added” but have started to wonder if that’ll actually happen now. I was really hoping for some bed linens. I remember a lot of nice homeware being added in the past Christmas sales. Not giving up hope just yet!

Stoic123 · 30/12/2025 22:08

2nd Jan for new item listing would be my bet, based on the last two years. I have a couple of things on my wishlist that I'm hoping will be added.

My wardrobe is also pretty stable now. Though I remember my old frenzied sale buying 3-4 years ago with fondness, I have less fond memories about having to sell extensively later on because I wasn't discerning enough about what I kept. I do have some lovely things though - particularly jumpers, summer dreses and socks.

IlovePond · 31/12/2025 07:59

@Stoic123 🤞- some new sale additions would be nice!

@OftenOrange - I do have some nice Toast things - some jumpers, tees and summer dresses mostly. My lovely nightwear items are my favourite things! I really do need to wear it all more frequently, but it is a pain working out how to wash and care for it all. I live in fear of shrinkage! I really don’t ‘need’ anything

I am finding that I just don’t like much of Toast’s current stuff, (or I do but it’s far too expensive!) I can’t get on with Toast’s shirts and trousers at all and all current stock jumpers and tanks are far too short for my taste.

I almost never buy anything full price from anywhere - I paid full price for the orange knitted bandana and a couple of ‘cheap’ bits of homeware when browsing in store. I did buy the olive crinkle skirt when it was full price but only because they were giving 20% off at an event!

I really need to focus on what I have and not buy more!

Me too 🙄

IlovePond · 31/12/2025 08:19

It’s very sloppy @Stravaig - I have completely lost interest in what I ordered as it’s been overtaken by annoyance at the delay. I know it’s the holiday period but Toast are usually very quick with despatches. They’ve got my money so I should have the goods!

Just a wee warning on the Harper try before you buy service. I used it to buy four items at the end of November, sent them all back in the requisite 5 days, got an email to say they were received and that was the end of that. This morning, got an email to say two of the items had not been received so I have been charged for them! Eh what?? I have emailed CS, but this is really a pain, especially S my credit card is almost maxed out after Christmas and post-Christmas sales while I wait for some returns to filter through. Not impressed.

Stoic123 · 31/12/2025 08:25

@IlovePond - although I love buying homeware in the sales (all my Toast Xmas decs and bed linen were sale items), I will often pick up homeware at full price. Both the berry colanders (currently on sale), for example, are much loved and used extensively.

IlovePond · 31/12/2025 08:28

@Stoic123 - that berry colander has almost come home with me a couple of times - it’s lovely!

You're right, there's no excuse. I posted parcels on the 22nd which arrived 24th, and on the 27th which arrived 29th - and that's with eBay's Simple Delivery, not a priority service. They're just not bothering.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 31/12/2025 08:43

Thanks for the heads up on the Harper @ScottishMouse . I also ordered and returned when it first became available (October I think) and I certainly don’t want an unforeseen charge on my credit card at the moment.

That's really worrying. I've been keeping an eye on the service - it has the potential to be really helpful in not tying up my very limited cashflow while I try things on/return most or all. But that kind of error, and it's unpredictability, would absolutely scupper me. I hope they sort it out quickly for you.

hicat · 31/12/2025 08:52

I returned a few things mid December and 2/3 have been processed, but the third (showing by royal mail as recieved 17th December) they’re saying they don’t have. Er.. not my problem?

@ScottishMouse 😮 that’s terrible re:try before you buy! Hopefully just an admin error but not cool that they’re chasing you for it, sounds like they should be chasing Harper’s. I received a couple of things that felt like they were sent by a third party—covered in fluff and the label was selotaped on, and it said “online marketplace” on the email. I’d be miffed if I’m getting sent passed around try before you buy items that have been de-newed but not discounted! I don’t mind buying such samples, but only if it’s honestly sold!

ScottishMouse · 31/12/2025 08:55

@hicat I wonder if that is their ship from store service that you have received those items from? I know they are doing this now, but only through chatting to a SA in store. If you order online and the warehouse has none, your item may be shipped directly from a store. I don’t think the store staff are loving this either.

Wishing you a lovely time at KC! My Dd is at Bath university and we often stop at KC when visiting/collecting her. Cafe is lovely too.

hicat · 31/12/2025 09:37

@ScottishMouse ahh that’s good intel. Tbh, I’d way rather it was coming from a toast shop than a third party. Poor shop staff though if it’s causing inundation!
