IF YOU ARE NEW TO BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDARS AND WOULD LIKE IDEAS PLEASE READ THE THREAD FIRST

Annual Style and Beauty Advent Calendar discussion thread. First AC reveal this year was 23rd June. First luxury reveal was 2nd July.

Thread 1: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5360770-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion

Thread 2: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5388836-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-2

Thread 3: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5396898-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-3

Thread 4: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5403558-2025-style-and-beauty-advent-calendar-discussion-spoilers-thread-4

The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

There’s a separate thread for GWP, discounts and other deals here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5389635-beauty-chat-freebiesgifts-with-purchaseoffers-thread-four

A thread for the Liberty Beauty Drop here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5253698-liberty-beauty-drop-spoiler-from-the-despatch-date-part-9

MN has a great Christmas board for deals and early gift buying here: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas

thanks for the new thread @BakeOffRewatch ! i caved and bought SNK yesterday and it arrives tomorrow …DD hinted that at least half of it is on her xmas list so will go in her advent calendar this year (i do a diy one for her every year but instead of advent I save them for xmas day ) ….so maybe I can justify the harrods BAC after all 😊

I've just had an Amazon delivery for an essential oil diffuser but I'm going to be using it with mini perfume bottles.

Does any one use those tiny bottles without a spray? I usually spray my clothes rather than skin so they're a bit pointless for me.

I have loads of minis from advents and edits so it would feel wasteful to go out and buy room fragrances. I've started with a few drops of a gorgeous little bottle of Chloe perfume in the kiving room...would recommend!

Evergreen21 · 10/09/2025 19:34

@TreesinthePark what a good idea! I have a few minis that I could use up this way. I was just talking to my dh about picking up some room fragrances from Ritals.

MonkeyTennis34 · 10/09/2025 19:40

I too give any unwanted products after Christmas to a local DV shelter.
Through the year, I hoard bits from LF beauty boxes, edits etc and I make up an AC for DD, using an old Next calendar which is very sturdy.

I find the Le Labo Eucalyptus quite strange. When I spray it I smell very little, but then I get the reverse of what usually happens, with the scent getting stronger and stronger over the next hour or so. Still can’t decide whether I like it or not.

I’m a big fan of The Noir, but appreciate it is fairly unusual and definitely unisex, so may not have mass appeal.

That didn't happen to me, and I sprayed it on DH too to check 😂 I liked Thé Noir but I'm not sure I liked it enough to tempt me into JL.

@OvaHere interesting! Unfortunately I'm not in Ireland but Brown Thomas has looked good in the past too.

Easy enough to buy little spray bottles and a tiny funnel on amazon if you want to convert dab on to spray. Just remember to label it.

psuedocream3 · 10/09/2025 19:50

My unwanteds tend to go in my daughters stocking if its trendy enough, or in a box for me to dig out through the year as I run out of my favourite items.

After being let down with selfridges, and also having issues with sellers/purchases on vinted, I bought SNK BAC as it seems alot less hassle buying a calendar than if you get problems with items/sellers.

Hoping SNK pull it out of the bag with a fragrance calendar this year. Still have Vogue on my radar too.

I’ve just seen ReallyRee’s unboxing of Elle - it’s good value and I’m tempted !
someone tell me to delete social media till February !!

OvaHere · 10/09/2025 20:32

Elemis are doing a 12 day BAC collaboration with JL exclusively. £125 available on the 15th. I may be interested in this depending on what's unboxed - just about to watch.

This is not actually bad for £125 if you like Elemis. Maybe not as good as the QVC deals but there are more variety of products.

I did read somewhere there may be a QVC Elemis TSV on the 13th so I'll be looking out for that also.

As someone who usually sells off their unwanted items, I actually really like these ideas.
How would I go about finding where to donate to these places?

You could have a look on Toiletries Amnesty and see if there's somewhere near you you can drop them off? It's an amazing project Smile

Just coming on to moan that the HB Holland and Barrett calendar ISN'T vegan this year 😭 Gutted.

Back to the drawing board for DD...

I really like the look of this. Just wish it had a pot of day cream rather than night cream.
I'm not a huge fan of the rose fragrance products but I would use them.

I usually get a couple of the QVC deals to stock up as Elemis is still my go-to despite trying an abundance of other brands through advent calendars and beauty boxes

For the first two, it's probably best to do some Internet searches for organisations in your area. There are lots of local ones.

Christmas boxes for kids in need: the one I know best that runs in lots of areas is Cash for Kids. They usually have drop off points in various locations and you can say what age and gender the items are suited to.

Thanks for sharing! There’s a few places I can donate local to where I live and work, I had no idea they were there

Thank you! I’ve donated to cash for kids before but it’s been toys. I like the idea of putting together some boxes for teen girls, would be nice to do for teen boys as well as I imagine they don’t get many donations

Thelifeofawife · 10/09/2025 22:06

I love this thread! Yes it is about our crazy splurges on all things beauty but you learn so much - I’ve always made efforts to donate to charity but I wasn’t aware of being able to donate beauty products. It makes so much sense but never occurred to me.

We have also ticked the charity box for RHOBAC…the TV deal can’t be far off now!

There are some sets on the QVC 40% off at the minute and they have this as today's TSV which has a choice of 2 day creams. I'm holding off for the one they do around Oct/Nov time though.

LightandBreezy · 10/09/2025 22:30

I think I'm not buying a calendar this time, although tbf I said that last year then crumbled at SNK (late, and received earlier than people that bought earlier due to their crappy ordering system) Bar the Harrods fragrance that I missed, there has been nothing that has truly inspired me this year. I totally agree with other posters that a lot of the joy comes from the mutual opening threads though, so will feel a bit sad in december possibly. I was offered a 9 am early access slot with SNK and they are still emailing me to tell me not to miss out though, so clearly it wasn't the mad scramble they were hoping for.

LightandBreezy · 10/09/2025 22:31

Apologies if that's a repeat of what others have said, I can't keep up with the thread this year!

wheresmyshoe · 10/09/2025 22:40

I’m twitching about SNK but have resisted. Keen to see Jarrolds.

Howmanyroses · 10/09/2025 23:10

I've got my Liberty calendar and really happy with it, it's so gorgeous 🤩 I've been picking up bits on eBay and Vinted, as currently obsessed with fragrance and haircare, probably because I have so much of everything else! Oh and also blushes are my downfall. So far I've picked up Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonks, bdk gris charnel and a previous Liberty BD box which has VP Dear Polly, really pleased. I may just wait for everything to go on sale before picking up another calendar for January

Isabelle70 · 10/09/2025 23:12

I went into Liberty this weekend and saw the calendar and I have no regrets not getting it this year.
I did spend my £10 voucher and £25 candle voucher on a Christmas bauble and notebook and then splashed out on the Liberty truffle calendar 🤣

I’m holding out for Jarrolds but it would be nice if it was a 24/25 day calendar this year. I never feel the 12 day ACs are worth buying.
