Anyone want to talk Autumn shopping wish lists?

I know it’s not even August yet, and I’ve still not gone on my summer holiday yet - but there’s a chill in the air, I’ve packed a box of freshly picked blackberries in the freezer for autumnal crumbles and while looking for school uniform today, noticed quite a few burgundy items in shop windows.

So what’s on your autumnal shopping list?

Im after a pair of black knee high boots. (My old ones finally had to be retired last year, beyond what could be repaired.)

I’ve just bought a dark brown cashmere jumper on vinted. Am now going to start the hunt for the perfect dark green cashmere jumper or cardie.

I think I need new work trousers but not sure what shape we’re doing this year. (Wide leg ? That doesn’t work well with puddles.)

Anyone else with a list for when the new season starts arriving in the shops?

This is why I'm veering towards the brown leather/suede boots and bag as my token nod to the trend. I don't really like brown clothing.

How long is the kilt on you? It looks ankle length on the Tu models who I presume are 5'9 or taller. I wish they'd give some measurements of the models. I'm considering ordering but don't fancy exposing my underwear in a gusty wind!

They do actually give the model’s height as 5’9. Just a shame they don’t specify which model…

@icelolly12 It came to about half way between the bottom of my knee and the top of my ankle. I'd have preferred a bit longer. It felt more like bad teenage school uniform than stylish Claudia in The Traitors.

Knitted triangle scarf
Brown leather knee boots
Cropped jacket possibly waxed
A touch of cobalt blue in something, possibly a belt?

Ive just ordered a moss/olive green co-ord from Free People. 2025 has definitely been my green era!

For a period in the 90’s my office wardrobe was clothes in various shades of brown. Unlike black and navy, most browns go together and as a new graduate, it saved money for other things (🍷mainly).

I am enjoying the browns around atm but I am being v careful not to tip back into 100% brown (now referred to as my “shit phase”).

I bought a dark brown hoodie from Hush recently. Looked lovely on the hanger. Unfortunately when I put it on I looked like a corpse. Brown is clearly not my colour.

I'd like a smart but comfy pair of trousers for flights that could also work in the office. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I saw a few pairs of trousers that would fit that bill when I was wandering around in Next yesterday. It’s worth going in for a look, I actually find it much better than trying to look online.

Hi all. Just found this burgundy mock croc fairly wide belt in Primark. Not bad quality and will match my Aspinal handbag from last year so I’m pleased!

I’ve also ordered the “me & em vibe” check trousers from Tu you bought Woolie. Shame the kilt wasn’t for you. I may have ordered some Grenson Chelsea boots in the sale to go with my kilt. All thanks to this thread I’m inspired even on the hottest day of the year !

I had a wander round the shops yesterday and bought this, to go with my brown check trousers and brown Uniqlo jacket. I was good at ignoring the sale rail, and just concentrating on things that would fill wardrobe gaps, things that I really loved.

To the pp looking for a Jigsaw maxi coat, there are a few on EBay at the moment - I have just got a forest green one in perfect condition for £120. I’ve also bought some chunky loafers from Sézane. Hurry up autumn!

So, I'm keeping the TU long, black kilt. I got it in a size 8 and it's slightly snug but I know the 10 would be too big. So I'm going to move the button slightly.

I'm 5ft 6 and it hits just above the ankle on me which I like. It's a decent weight so hangs nicely although I think they've made the pleats slightly too large? Think I'm going to browse Etsy for a pewter kilt pin.

Have been looking for ages on eBay and Vinted, but the right colour hasn’t come up in the right size … yet!

I think someone in the guardian did a feature on this recently. Probably that woman with the silly name who writes very silly fashion advice and contradicts herself from week to week, but iirc the travel trousers piece was one of her more sensible ones.

(Actually, the right colourS - would buy a burgundy AND a navy if they came up.)

They’re gorgeous! And Dune are usually comfy too. Had to return my Grenson sale boots - bit too narrow for my feet.
