Anyone want to talk Autumn shopping wish lists?

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 27/07/2025 14:52

I know it’s not even August yet, and I’ve still not gone on my summer holiday yet - but there’s a chill in the air, I’ve packed a box of freshly picked blackberries in the freezer for autumnal crumbles and while looking for school uniform today, noticed quite a few burgundy items in shop windows.

So what’s on your autumnal shopping list?

Im after a pair of black knee high boots. (My old ones finally had to be retired last year, beyond what could be repaired.)

I’ve just bought a dark brown cashmere jumper on vinted. Am now going to start the hunt for the perfect dark green cashmere jumper or cardie.

I think I need new work trousers but not sure what shape we’re doing this year. (Wide leg ? That doesn’t work well with puddles.)

Anyone else with a list for when the new season starts arriving in the shops?

They look like great Birkenstock dupes. I’m keen for a pair!

They're the exact same quality as my genuine Birkenstocks and they're comfier.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2025 16:58

My Fitflop Rally trainers arrived today and I think they’re keepers. Nice and squidgy and they look really smart.

I’m devoted to the Fitflop Rally @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie. They saw off my plantar fasciitis. I practically live in them these days. I bought some very plain black ankle boots from them last year and they’ve been good too.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2025 18:52

Good to know. My only slight concern is that I think I’m a size 3 and 3 quarters, so I’m hoping that the 4s don’t make my feet slip around. If that doesn’t happen, I’m going to look out on Vinted for another colour. These ones were on offer at John Lewis.

Arraminta · 16/09/2025 19:27

Gutted. Finally succumbed to buying the new brown suede Fitflop loafers and they're sold out in my size!

Moshulu do a brown Birkenstock type clog. I haven’t tried them but I have had their sheepskin boot slippers for a couple of years and they’ve worn really well, so I would be tempted to try them. On sale just now, too! These are smooth leather but they also have suede ones on the main page.

Actually I now have a dilemma. I’ve been saving up for a pair of Birkenstock shoes, but browsing the Moshulu range I’m wondering whether to save £40 and buy some of their shoes (or even the boots).

Pros- cheaper
Cons- the main one is I wanted a flat sole that wouldn’t collect mud, and the Birkenstock fits that criteria while the Moshulu don’t. My feet are usually happy in Birks.

I like both. Curiously, my OH said the Birkenstock shoes were not very ‘me’ when I think they’re really me!!

I'm really sorry but I can't imagine why anybody would like those Birkies - they look like old cardboard.

I do, however, like the third pair you linked to.

Nearlyadoctor · 16/09/2025 20:26

Jones Bootmaker do a very good dupe of the Birkenstock Boston clogs - from memory £49.99 and very comfy

This has happened to me with a jacket I was eyeing up in Cos 😢 I am so upset!

Ladies, I am currently looking to purchase a brown trench coat. I’d like it to be a dark chocolate brown, so it’s got to be the right shade, slightly oversized and floaty. I really love this one from Frankie Shop but I can’t justify the spend:

I have found this alternative that’s considerably cheaper, but I’m not sure if I like it as much and whether it’ll be good quality / be stuck on Vinted in a few months time 🤨😅

I usually try to buy the one I really like, so I would see where I could make the money- have you got a few things you could sell in order to buy the first one?

(I’m having the same dilemma. I 🫶🏻 the Birkenstock shoes and I worry none of the others will work [or not work 😂] so well with the disparate outfits I have- I don’t really have a signature look, which makes getting dressed quite hard sometimes!)

What do you plan to wear the trainers with? I’ve got these, the black with white sole, and find I never reach for them - I really do like them but for some reason they’re just not a top choice for me, so happy to take some inspiration!

Yes, I completely agree with you @AlertCat
I have about £60 in my Vinted balance. It’s not a lot but it’s something 🤣 the trouble is, with all the browns currently mounting in my wardrobe, I just know further down the line I’m going to want a winter coat to match.

I’ve made so much money on Vinted and I’m currently building more of a capsule wardrobe that’s minimal and conscious and full of items I love and will wear again and again. 🤎

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 17/09/2025 08:39

We are such enablers on this thread.😆 I agree with the others - find a way to afford the coat you love, the other one will never please you as much. I think this particularly applies to things like classic coats, investment buys.

Haha, it’s true. I agree. I am trying to stick to buying the thing I actually want and will get more joy from. Just looked again and actually have £75 in Vinted. I might try to get to at least £100 and then justify the spend on TFS coat 😍

Mine are the same colour combo as yours. For work, I’m going to wear them with wide legged trousers.

I also think they’ll work with black tights and a mini skirt for the pub.

And hopefully with bare legs and midi dresses in better weather.

Rina66 · 17/09/2025 20:02

The M & S Boyfriend jeans are good @digiwidgy they have a straighter leg, I buy them in a short leg so they sit just an inch above my ankle bone, I’m 5’6”. I have them in a 12 and a 14, one skims whilst the other is a looser fit, both are flattering. The black barrel legs from Tu are also good, more carrot than barrel I think, again I buy them in a short so they are cropped on me too.
