Comfortable city break sandals

In search of comfortable sandals for a city break.

Last resort will be softbed birkenstocks as I've had them before but wanted something different this time round.

Size 4 normal width feet. Any suggestions please?

I have fitflop already but they're not the most comfortable for a day of walking unfortunately

I have these. The suede is very soft and can be worn with bare feet or socks. I walked around a very hot Venice and Lisbon in them and they're my regular walking around my own city in hot weather sandal.

The sizing is weird. I'm a standard 4/ 37, or a 4.5/ 37.5 depending on the shoe style but had to take what the makers call a 5.5. They fit perfectly but no way are they a 5.5

Sketcher arch fit for my latest break which was city and beach so I didn't want leather, walked for many hours with no issues.

Thank you for the suggestions so far but none have caught my eye yet. I should have said budget up to £100. Was hoping for something daintier but I guess chunkier is generally more comfortable..

Have a look at Pavers. Not the trendiest but very comfortable.

Littleguggi · 25/06/2025 20:44

Gosh I'm super fussy! I'm mid 30s btw so was hoping for something mildly trendy, if there is such thing for a comfortable shoe!

I bought these recently and absolutely love them, so comfy and very "now" (in London and France anyway)

Gutted to see that they are in the sale now but it has been so hot that I have been wearing them non stop so I guess it's been worth it.

Variations on them called fisherman's sandals around but I can vouch for the comfort of these.

Teva aren’t delicate or dainty but they’re literally the comfiest sandals I’ve ever had. I keep trying to replace them after 4 years of extensive wear (in a hot country, so 5-6 months of daily wear) but nothing I try to replace them with goes the distance.

Littleguggi · 25/06/2025 21:02

Okay these last 2 suggestions are getting closer to what I'm after, thank you, will look into these further!

I mean, I’m 90% sold on those Teva leather ones because they called the colour “acorn”. But they are cute and comfortable as well 😂

gianfrancogorgonzola · 25/06/2025 21:08

Look at air and grace. Really soft footbed!

Was just looking at these actually, any particular style you'd recommend and are they tts?

I’ve just bought Getaway Strappy Crocs for my city break. Not something I thought I would go for, but very comfortable and not as heavy as other sandals I’ve been looking at.

Sooverthemill · 25/06/2025 21:57

I have sandals by air and grace Penelope Chilvers and Birkenstock which I wear and walk a lot in. I don’t own ‘walking’ sandals but all those are very comfortable

Littleguggi · 25/06/2025 22:11

Which air & grace sandals are people buying? I love them all 😍

another vote for Teva. So comfortable, a bit of arch support and adjustable.

I have a few pairs of Karrimor walking sandals and love them so much.

Thanks for the inspo - have just ordered! I am often a size 9 in sandals so hoping they fit.
