Comfortable city break sandals

Littleguggi · 24/06/2025 21:44

In search of comfortable sandals for a city break.

Last resort will be softbed birkenstocks as I've had them before but wanted something different this time round.

Size 4 normal width feet. Any suggestions please?

I just bought some ecco sandals in a cream/sto r colour. Worn for weeks whilst away. Will ordera navy pair when home. They ar3 perfect.

SwedishEdith · 28/06/2025 12:48

Tevas as well. I think they were men's. They have the Hurricane sole and two straps across so not the typical Teva strap look. But they must be on their 6th holiday now.

I've also bought some Fly ones as my Birkenstocks are on their last legs. Not road tested them but worth a look as well. Feel very comfortable.

Another vote for these from air and grace

Some of the Air and Grace ones are gorgeous but I am confused by their sizes - I know I am an EU 42 and a UK 8 but don’t know how to jump faced with a size 42/9 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheLette · 28/06/2025 14:38

I bought a pair of Air and Grace sandals - they are beautiful but sizing very odd (had to get 1.5 sizes larger than usual) and the sandal seems to go in a different direction/angle to my actual foot. I have totally normal feet. Can basically only wear them out to dinner / a very short trip somewhere. Annoying considering they were quite expensive.

Teva aren’t delicate or dainty but they’re literally the comfiest sandals I’ve ever had. I keep trying to replace them after 4 years of extensive wear (in a hot country, so 5-6 months of daily wear) but nothing I try to replace them with goes the distance.

Tevas are brilliant for me because I have quite tender feet and wearing straps in hot weather can often result in blisters, etc. This never happens for me with Tevas.

The best ones I ever had don't exist now - they were "pretty rugged" (that was the style name), were leather and I just lived in these for the 4 years I lived in a mediterranean country.

I’m a 6.5 really, sometimes a 7 in trainers. They advise if you’re between sizes to size down, I ordered the 6 and they fit perfectly. I’ve got weirdly long toes and the Birkenstock footbed doesn’t work for me, if that’s of any use!

Hush Puppies sandals are very comfy, with a cushioned sole. I have bunions and am prone to blisters, but they haven’t given me any. DD (16) also loves hers, and she has narrow feet - so at the very least they appeal to different generations ☺️. The leather is very soft and they don’t cost much on Amazon.

I bought these yesterday because the shop assistant was wearing them and she said she had them 3 years and they are still pristine. https://www.modainpelle.com/sandals-c29/flatform-sandals-c101/sh-shipshape-black-leather-p14702

Ooh i really like these in both colours 😍 even though they are opposite to the dainty sandal I was after 🤣

I bought a pair of Josef Seibel at JL. I’ve had the same style before and they are adjustable.

i will only buy leather

OrdinaryGirl · 29/06/2025 13:59

These ones are incredibly comfortable and have lasted well. I bought them last summer as a bit of a risk buy. Wore them yesterday walking a section of a coast path - 16,000 steps later and my feet were still fine, no blisters or chafing anywhere and the memory foam is great. When they wear out I will definitely be replacing them.

As kindly as possible, my 89 year old mother wouldn't wear those.

Got to admit I've been laughing at some of these suggestions.

OP: I'm in my 30s so would ideally like something vaguely fashionable and a bit daintier
Responses: I'm an OAP waiting for a hip replacement, these incredibly chunky and hideous ones are my favourites!

I'm 65 and about to enter semi-retirement. Severe osteoporosis and if I slip something will break. I still wouldn't wear them or anything like them 😀.

I read through the thread twice as I thought I'd missed your suggestions- but no you don't have any except laughing.

Because I'm not a huge fan of sandals so am not the best person to offer recommendations - but was hoping, giving OP's spec that someone would suggest some pairs that I would actually wear! A few people have, and others perhaps I/OP wouldn't go for but were obviously suggested in good faith. It's the ones that completely ignored everything OP said that I was referring to.

Giving utterly useless suggestions that are the complete opposite of what was requested isn't actually helpful at all, it just wastes everyone's time clicking multiple irrelevant links.
It's so egotistic, 'I WILL share MY view of what I like, regardless it being completely irrelevant, because my taste is clearly superior.'

I wouldn't come onto a thread where the OP asked, 'What's the best veggie burgers?' and suggested the Aberdeen Angus Steak ones because I like them!

So you had nothing to contribute beyond sneering at some of the posters who did? How helpful.

My mum won't wear Hotter either, but I do!

I did admit that they are not dainty - but they are comfortable! And I am not sure it is always possible to get both in one type of sandal.

RaspberryJungle · 29/06/2025 21:03

I've bought Saltwater Boardwalk in Latte.

They look nice (imo) and are stupidly comfy. I'm on my feet all day in work and walk there and back; they've been fine the whole time from the first day. And I have awkward feet, too, so you should definitely be comfy if you've normal ones!

I love see all the very varied suggestions but only 10% of what's been suggested has actually appealed to me! Interesting seeing what other 30-something year olds are wearing though! I thought I was fussy and this thread has definitely confirmed that!
