Comfortable city break sandals

In search of comfortable sandals for a city break.

Last resort will be softbed birkenstocks as I've had them before but wanted something different this time round.

Size 4 normal width feet. Any suggestions please?

I'm not sure you're fussy OP, but I think the word 'comfortable' in your title has thrown the suggestions, ahem, in a specific direction. I'm mid 30s and also recommending Tevas. I have the midform Infinity sandals which look lovely on, very delicate, and are incredibly comfortable. They do make that flip flop sound when you're walking though. The Teva Universals look nice and comfortable. They come in a large range of colours and are fairly subtle looking for walking sandals. With regards to what I'm actually wearing, I've lived in my Tevas on a recent beach/city holiday and at home. I also have fisherman sandals and Hermes Oran dupes, but they're not good for walking. If I need to walk a distance I tend to wear trainers.

I have awful feet and every holiday I end up with blisters. I read lots of similar threads and bought salt water swimmers. Soaked them once and have worn them all week in Lanzarote and not a single blister!
I also have teva hurricanes - I can walk miles and miles in them and even climbed hills and canyons today but they have rubbed a little on my toes

Whoever recommended Air and Grace I hate you, I now have a really expensive wish list for sandals and bags! 😫😂

Edited

Me too, I have discovered 3 handbags that I want!

XxTigerlilyxx · 30/06/2025 08:05

I bought the air and graces. I wanted to love them, the leather is super soft, but they just didn't fit right and I couldn't get on with the leather sole. I might try buying the Tevas instead

do you wear them with bare feet? I often find I get blisters when no socks worn in hot places.

Just for an alternative view, I got rid of my Tevas (2 pairs) because of rubbing. It's the triangular bit by the outer ankle that rubbed, they didn't work for my narrow feet at all.

I've bought Saltwater Boardwalk in Latte.

They look nice (imo) and are stupidly comfy. I'm on my feet all day in work and walk there and back; they've been fine the whole time from the first day. And I have awkward feet, too, so you should definitely be comfy if you've normal ones!

Do you think these come up narrow

the site suggests they do

thanks

I have 2 pairs of Saltwater Boardwalk sandals and very wide feet - they fit me really well, have worn both pairs without any issues and no need to 'break them in'. They are like slippers. I don't think they are the daintiest, I think they're a bit granny to be honest, but people compliment them all the time so they can't be that bad! They are so comfortable that I don't care anyway.

Ariela · 30/06/2025 15:47

You won't like these because chunky but I got these out of the box and walked 20000+ steps. No blisters, very comfy, no road dust under the toes (because of the style). Should have got rose gold though, think classier than sage green which goes with most of my clothes.

I have teva, fitflop, hotter, ecco and merrell amongst others ! The merrells are the comfiest by far. I think it really is individual but suggestions do give you somewhere to start.

Yes it’s weird as they are marketed as narrow fitting, perhaps because they are adjustable

it’s not great not being able to try shoes on in shops anymore

maxybrown · 30/06/2025 19:28

I have loads of foot problems. Won't bore you and I am very weird when it comes to my body/feet but... I got these two years ago. Wore them from brand new all round new York with zero issues with my feet. Still wearing them all the time. So so comfy. I have the brown.

Really interesting that you wrote this as I finally ordered the Tiva thin (leather) and as soon as I put them on I could feel that exact part digging in/rubbing. I have narrow feet too.
Very sad as I'd coveted them for ages and my in-laws bought them as a birthday gift, but they need to be returned. The hunt continues...

ChaliceinWonderland · 06/07/2025 20:57

As a result of this thread am now the proud owner of two pairs of teva sandals.... so comfy!!!!!!

I've been a Saltwater fan for years. Wore the originals and then the swimmer thicker sole ones.
Bought some boardwalks and they ripped my feet to shreds.
I also bought my daughter some and the sole split after only a few wears. Needless to say I've fallen out with them a bit now. Haven't got any now.

You can have comfortable sandals and not look like a granny. I've got some from Clarks which aren't the most flattering but they're comfy, so I don't care really.

These Skechers Desert Kiss sandals are amazing!

I wore these in Florida recently- they are extremely comfortable and looked nice with loads of outfits

I love see all the very varied suggestions but only 10% of what's been suggested has actually appealed to me! Interesting seeing what other 30-something year olds are wearing though! I thought I was fussy and this thread has definitely confirmed that!

I work with a lot of 20 and 30 something's and about 30-50% wear Tevas.

The other half wear DM sandals (not comfortable) those Nike cloven hoof ones (too hot), Camper or the Birkenstock Bostons.
