Hi,

Here’s a new thread!

@ShrankLastWinter Yes, I love winter clothes with a passion.

You’ve just made me realise why the new toast stuff isn’t appealing to me. There are too many florals and too much cotton utility wear, which always makes me feel cold.

I’ve already got a navy wool midi skirt, the Frankie coat in green and a grey boiled wool dress and trousers from previous seasons.

I don’t buy knitwear from toast after I had a couple of their Donegal jumpers that just fell apart after a few wears. I tried mending but the holes were appearing faster than I could darn. To be fair I am very hard on jumpers.

IlovePond · 15/09/2025 14:20

I wore my olive crinkle skirt today with a brown garment dyed t shirt and felt very autumnal. Someone at work said I looked nice, so that cheered me up too!

Looking forward to wearing my sample sale coat, (and hoping I still like it!)

The weather here is very changeable- one minute it’s windy, coldish and rainy, the next it’s sunny and quite warm!

I need more nice autumnal clothes - I have lots of non-Toast stuff but can’t fit into some of it 😿and have ‘gone off’ other bits.

Apologies btw for raising everyone’s hopes of a Kindred gift in September- still no sign of it!

@ToastCosILoveIt oh thanks very much! By the reviews, it looks like they are a very close fit. Also I can’t decide which one to get because I like all of them including the one that’s out of stock!

weareallcats · 15/09/2025 18:21

Still undecided on the apron dress…

New bits arrived today and all are keepers. Knew the macro gingham dress would stay as Freya is a staple for me. The sienna neat jumper is a perfect colour (love orange), green cord jacket very useful and lovely quality and donegal neck tie jumper is a really quirky and cool piece - lots of other colours in it that are not perceptible on the website. I must now stop. I really have bought way too much already 😬.

Look at the photos, they are close in size.

@ToastCosILoveIt amazing thanks very much. I think I’ll go in large!

This is really helpful, thank you. I've just bought the rollneck charcoal cashmere sweater and was stressing about caring for it.

Trip to London today so ducked into toast and ended up buying 2 pairs of trousers Blush

The Organic cotton Barrel leg cords in charcoal , I know -I had discounted these until I tried them on and they are such a good shape and the perfect length.
I went with medium as they are thin and I might want thermals.

I wasn't looking for another pair of trousers and certainly not a pair over £200 😬 but I spotted the Cotton pleat front trousers in Mocha brown .
They are a deep bitter chocolate and I have been after a pair in this colour for ages.
The fabric is lovely.
Thick but peachy soft cotton
Not too pleated, not too flared , not too land army
I tried the 10 and 12 -personally I think they are on the large side and the 10s fitted perfectly.
It doesn't look super exciting style wise in the shop but there are some gems tucked away.
Not keen on fabric of the Dianthus dresses and shirt though -shiny viscose.
The Herringbone trousers are lovely, I really liked some of the knitwear although one of the assistants was wearing a new cardigan which had pilled badly !
Gorgeous socks too.

I gave no idea why it's replied to you @VivienneDelacroix sorry
MN is very glitch atm

No worries. It's quite apt, as I also bought the charcoal barrel leg cords and agree with you. They're lovely.

ChelseaDetective · 16/09/2025 21:35

Thanks @Poplinskirt , I’ve been thinking about the Dianthus dress for a few days as I love the print, but shiny viscose would not be for me.

The other thing that put me off was the pocket drooped horribly on the shirt, this lessened when on but still not acceptable particularly given the price point.

@Poplinskirt and @VivienneDelacroix
How tall are you? I love the trousers but at 5'2" I think they will look weird...

ScottishMouse · 17/09/2025 19:07

I am also 5’2” @Brummumm and bought them. They are a little too long, but I like my trousers cropped. For now I have tacked them up one fold but I will do a more permanent job on them when I have time.

ScottishMouse · 17/09/2025 19:09

A non-Toast (but Toast adjacent perhaps) question. I am going to Stockholm tomorrow for the weekend and will have some time to myself on Friday. Anyone been and can recommend any good shops - clothes, accessories, homeware? I will do touristy stuff with my pal sat/sun. Thanks.

ChelseaDetective · 17/09/2025 19:55

I wish I were going to Stockholm! If I went I think I’d be looking out for Ewa I Walla, Arket and FjallRaven.

This might also be worth a look, but could be too ‘designer’ and a lot of it sounds like a business centre rather than shops.

Oooh, let us know if anything catches your eye @ScottishMouse . Hope you have a wonderful trip.

I’ve bought the pink corduroy jacket/shirt and I love it. It introduces a new colour into my quite earthy toned wardrobe and adds an element of fun that was lacking before. Tried it on as jacket layered with my charcoal cashmere cardigan underneath and it looked great. Can see it working through several seasons. Way more versatile than I thought possible. I’m a standard UK 12 and 5 ft 7 and the medium is perfect.

ScottishMouse · 17/09/2025 20:56

Thanks @ChelseaDetective , I’m going to have a look at these now.

PeonyBlush10 · 17/09/2025 21:06

In my quest to add more fun and colour to my wardrobe as an attempt to beat the winter doldrums, I also purchased the yellow moss bandana, which I also love. Really lifts charcoal, olive, navy and brown clothing on the days when I need a little more pizazz. Probably won’t style it with the pink jacket but who knows, I’m looking forward to experimenting.

PeonyBlush10 · 17/09/2025 21:18

@IlovePond you mentioned you have bits in your wardrobe you’ve ’gone off.’ I’ve just had a purge and sold similar items I’ve stored for years and which have funded these new purchases plus more. It feels great to have a clear out. I’m working towards a much smaller, more streamlined wardrobe.

I'm 5'7 and they are above my ankle bone.

IlovePond · 17/09/2025 22:07

@PeonyBlush10 - I have sold some - non-Toast stuff on eBay but I gave up with other bits. I ended up donating lots of beautiful skirts and dresses to the local charity shop recently. (This was stuff I could no longer fit into, unfortunately!)

Tbf, most of what still fits but I don’t feel like wearing is non-Toast stuff and - judging from the lack of interest in my other items, I don’t think it would sell.

My DSIS, however, has an extensive Toast collection. She sells lots and seems to get good money for her stuff.

I also get ridiculously upset when buyers complain about my items. It doesn’t happen often, but I am far too thin-skinned for eBay to be a pleasant experience 😿

I agree with you about having a clear out - I think I just need to chuck away half the contents of my house as I am feeling quite overwhelmed with ‘stuff’.

I am finding this autumn that I am really struggling with what to wear for work. The weather is so changeable and I don’t really have anything - except my olive skirt - that fits this time of year. It’s too warm for black tights and boots and too miserable for my linen trousers.

I was just now staring into my wardrobe wondering what to wear tomorrow!

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 18/09/2025 06:32

@IlovePond autumn is my favourite time of year, but until it gets properly autumnal where I can rely on needing some knitwear every day, this in between phase stresses me out. I never know what to put on in the morning. Yesterday it was chilly and grey so I wore a sweater, but by afternoon it was sunny and I was melting.

mizu · 18/09/2025 07:31

@IlovePond feel exactly the same. Don’t like wearing shoes or boots at all really. This week I had to face the fact my Birkenstocks (which I have lived in along with the flower mountain sandals) were not suitable to wear to work in this weather. Been wearing my yellow new balance trainers with longer TOAST dresses. A road closure here has forced me into deciding what to wear the night before 😁 as I have to leave the house earlier to avoid the hideousness.

weareallcats · 18/09/2025 09:39

Ewa i Walla is a bit of a revelation - I knew a few of the things I had from Plumo had a label that I couldn’t read, but realised when someone posted above that it was this brand. Spent some time swooning over the website this morning. I am not supposed to be buying anything else!

Re selling - I’ve had some luck on Vinted - both buying and selling Toast. Never tried Ebay - it feels more intimidating somehow.

I tend to wear layers at this time of year, so I can warm up/cool down as necessary, but agree it is frustrating. I have been wearing longish dresses with bare legs, nordic socks and ankle boots - that works well if it is wet, but it is difficult to carry multiple things in the wind whilst also attempting to avoid knicker flashing, as I discovered on Monday.

IlovePond · 18/09/2025 13:52

@weareallcats 😹🙀

I completely agree @mizu and @ScottishMouse - in the end I wore a long sleeved dress and ankle boots with my bargain men’s Uniqlo cord shirt that I use as a jacket.

It was miserable and nippy this morning and I almost went back to look for a scarf. By 11am I was boiling hot!

I have wondered if I could get away with wearing the Pond with a t shirt underneath or if that would be too summery…
